The Chargers will likely place Henry (right ACL) on IR during final roster cuts, ESPN's Eric D. Williams reports.

Per the report, Henry, who suffered his knee injury May 22 and then underwent surgery two weeks later, "is moving pretty well on the field and has been very engaged during practice." While the tight end hasn't officially been ruled out for the rest of the season, we suspect that will eventually be the case, with his long-term future in mind.

Reese signed a contract with the Panthers on Sunday.

Reese spent the past few months with Tampa Bay after signing as an undrafted free agent. The Missouri product will look to catch on as a depth tight end and special teams player with Carolina in 2018, and he'll have a chance at the practice squad in the event he doesn't make the Week 1 roster.

Gathers caught two of three targets for 32 yards during Saturday's 21-13 preseason loss to the Bengals.

Gathers led the team in receiving on the night, thanks in large part to a 25-yard reception on his team's last possession of the game. The likes of Dalton Schultz, Geoff Swaim and Blake Jarwin combined for 13 targets, though the trio only managed a total of 45 receiving yards. Gathers seemingly still has the opportunity to claim a roster spot, and he'll look to build off a respectable showing next week against the Cardinals.

Allen (abdomen) was waived/injured by the Browns on Saturday, Daryl Ruiter of 923thefan.com reports.

Allen and the Browns could reach an injury settlement agreement if the tight end clears waivers, while the team was able to sign fellow tight end Stephen Baggett after waiving Allen.

Fumagalli (sports hernia) has been ruled out for Saturday's preseason contest against the Bears, Mike Klis of 9News.com reports.

Fumagalli will miss his second consecutive preseason contest as he continues to recover from sports hernia surgery, while the rookie hasn't had a chance to challenge Austin Traylor (shoulder) and Jake Butt for positioning on the depth chart at tight end behind starter Jeff Heuerman (knee). Fumagalli's next opportunity to make his debut will come in Week 3 of the preseason Friday versus the Redskins.

Seals-Jones finished without a catch on one target in Friday's preseason game against the Saints.

Gabe Holmes started at tight end for a second straight week, but Seals-Jones came in for the next snap and got regular work throughout the first half, albeit with his lone target getting batted down by a defensive lineman. The second-year pro did play a part in David Johnson's nine-yard touchdown run, pushing a defender off the line with an impressive block and then helping Johnson push the pile into the end zone. With Jermaine Gresham (Achilles) unlikely to be available early in the season, Seals-Jones has an open path to a role as the Cardinals' top pass catcher at tight end, even if Holmes takes away some snaps and targets.

Njoku was unable to corral his lone target in Friday's preseason game against Buffalo.

Reportedly plagued by drops throughout training camp, Njoku responded with 46 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the first week of the preseason. He had a six-yard catch wiped out by a penalty on the opening drive Friday, but he was otherwise awfully quiet despite playing 26 snaps. To be fair, the Browns had an 18:9 rush:pass ratio in the first half, with Tyrod Taylor and Baker Mayfield combining for six completions and 22 passing yards. Njoku should get more opportunities in the third week of the preseason, and it can't hurt that his competition for pass-catching work, Seth DeValve, has missed the first two weeks of the exhibition slate with a quadriceps injury. Njoku is well on his way to a starting job, with potential for an every-down role.

Thomas hauled in both of his targets for 35 yards and a touchdown in Friday's preseason game against Miami.

The Panthers opened the game with two tight ends on the field, starting both Thomas and Greg Olsen. The rookie took a short throw from Cam Newton for a 27 yard-touchdown in the second quarter, then caught another pass from Taylor Heinicke in the third quarter. With Chris Manhertz (foot) still on the PUP list, Thomas seems to be on track for the No. 2 tight end job. It's a role that probably won't entail more than two or three targets per week, but there is potential for useful fantasy production if Olsen misses any time.

Gesicki didn't draw any targets in Friday's preseason game against Carolina.

Gesicki failed to make any noise despite getting a start, with Albert Wilson, Danny Amendola, Jakeem Grant and Kenyan Drake dominating Ryan Tannehill's attention. The rookie second-round pick faces soft competition for playing time, but there's no guarantee of snaps translating to production in Miami.

Hooper caught both of his targets for 33 yards and a touchdown in Friday's preseason game against the Chiefs.

Hooper picked up 29 yards to convert a 3rd-and-11 on Atlanta's third snap, then hurdled over a defender for a four-yard touchdown to finish the opening drive. His talent, age and pedigree make him a reasonable candidate for a Year 3 leap, but he may struggle for volume when the Falcons have all their weapons healthy.
