  • Titans' Anthony Firkser: Secures roster spot

Firkser secured his spot on the Titans' 53-man roster, Erik Bacharach of the Nashville Tennessean reports.

Firkser's preseason was highlighted by a five-catch, 68-yard performance during the Titans' third preseason tilt against the Steelers. Tennessee elected to keep four tight ends on the roster, so Firkser could be primarily limited to snaps on special teams during the early stages of the regular season.

  • Bucky Hodges: Let go by Steelers

Hodges was waived by the Steelers on Saturday.

The 2017 sixth-rounder went unclaimed on waivers and joined the Steelers' practice squad. He'll be a candidate for a promotion to the active roster if Vance McDonald (foot), Jesse James (back), or Xavier Grimble (wrist) suffer any setbacks.

  • Evan Engram TE | DEN

Giants' Evan Engram: Sports non-contact jersey

Engram (concussion) sported a red (non-contact) jersey during Monday's practice, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.

On the plus side, Engram participated in individual drills Monday, which is a positive indicator, but the non-contact jersey suggests that the tight end remains in the NFL's concussion protocol. Added clarity regarding his Week 1 status should arrive no later than Wednesday upon the release of the Giants' first regular-season injury report.

  • Sean McGrath TE | DET

Sean McGrath: Let go by Lions

McGrath has been released by the Lions.

McGrath, who signed with the Lions this spring, was unable to separate himself as either a blocking specialist or pass catcher this summer. The tight end will immediately become an unrestricted free agent.

  • Paul Butler TE | LV

    Paul Butler: Waived by Raiders

Butler was waived by the Raiders on Saturday, the Associated Press reports.

There wasn't room for Butler on the Raiders' 53-man roster with Jared Cook, Lee Smith and Derek Carrier handling the duties at tight end.

  • Pharaoh Brown TE | IND

    Pharaoh Brown: Waived by Oakland

Brown was waived by the Raiders on Friday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Brown failed to make the 53-man roster as the Raiders elected to keep Jared Cook, Lee Smith and Derek Carrier at tight end. The University of Oregon product played 39 offensive snaps in two games with Oakland as a rookie in 2017.

  • Evan Engram TE | DEN

    Giants' Evan Engram: Making progress

Engram (concussion) appeared to be participating in individual drills Monday, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.

This represents another good sign with regard to the tight end's availability for Sunday's season opener against the Jaguars. Added clarity on that front should arrive no later than Wednesday, when the Giants are required to submit an official practice participation/injury report.

  • Je'Ron Hamm TE | IND

    Je'Ron Hamm: Waived by LAC

Hamm was waived by the Chargers on Saturday, Ricky Henne of the team's official site reports.

Hamm was originally claimed off waivers by the Chargers in mid-August, but he was essentially a preseason body for a team thin at tight end. He hasn't seen regular-season action since appearing in five games with the 49ers during the 2016 campaign.

  • Chargers' Braedon Bowman: Waived by Chargers

Bowman was waived by the Chargers on Saturday, Ricky Henne of the team's official site reports.

Bowman's brief NFL career has included just one target in three games, so his lack of experience didn't help in his quest for a roster spot. The Chargers re-signed veteran Antonio Gates on Sunday to provide additional depth behind Virgil Green.

  • Texans' Jevoni Robinson: Clears waivers, placed on IR

Robinson (undisclosed) cleared waivers after being waived-injured and is now on Houston's injured reserve list, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Robinson was activated from the PUP list during preseason but had fallen behind others and had no shot of sticking with the Texans.
