  • Bryce Pierre TE | CAR

Bryce Pierre: Joins Carolina's practice squad

The Panthers signed Pierre to their practice squad Thursday, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports.

Pierre wasn't claimed by another club after Carolina waived him Tuesday, so he was free to come back as a member of the practice squad. It will almost certainly take an injury to one of the tight ends on the Panthers' active roster for Pierre to be elevated in 2025.

  • Josh Whyle TE | GB

Josh Whyle: Signed to Packers' practice squad

Green Bay signed Whyle to the practice squad Thursday.

Whyle was cut by the Titans on Tuesday after failing to beat out David Martin-Robinson for the TE3 spot on the 53-man roster behind Chig Okonkwo and Gunnar Helm. Rather than stay in Tennessee, Whyle will head to Green Bay to be a member of the team's practice squad, and he would be a top candidate to be elevated to the Packers' active roster if Tucker Kraft, Luke Musgrave, Ben Sims or John FitzPatrick miss any time.

  • Gee Scott: Let go by New England

The Patriots cut Scott from the practice squad Thursday.

Scott was initially brought back by New England on the practice squad after failing to make the 53-man roster at the end of training camp. He's been let go by the Patriots again, and the undrafted rookie out of Ohio State will look to catch on with a team in need of tight-end depth on its practice squad.

  • Chris Myarick TE | MIA

    Chris Myarick: Released by Dolphins

Myarick was released by the Dolphins on Tuesday.

Myarick signed with the Dolphins in early August to provide depth in the team's tight end room. However, he was unable to carve out a role and will hope to land with a practice squad around the league.

  • Joshua Simon TE | ATL

Joshua Simon: Sticking around in Atlanta

The Falcons signed Simon to the practice squad Wednesday, Terrin Waack of the team's official site reports.

Simon entered training camp as a longshot to make the 53-man roster, but he impressed the coaching staff enough to stick around on the practice squad. The undrafted rookie out of South Carolina will provide the Falcons depth at tight end and could be elevated to the active roster if Kyle Pitts, Charlie Woerner, Teagan Quitoriano or Feleipe Franks were to miss time.

  • Stephen Carlson: Back with Bears

Carlson signed to Chicago's practice squad Wednesday.

The tight end was released Tuesday after falling short of the Bears' 53-man roster, though he stuck with the team after clearing waivers. Carlson missed the whole 2024 regular season with a collarbone injury and appeared on just one special-teams snap during the 2023 campaign. He last saw extended action in 2019 and '20 with Cleveland, though he only has six career catches for 62 yards.

  • Nick Vannett TE | MIN

Nick Vannett: Joins practice squad in Minnesota

Vannett was signed to the Vikings' practice squad Wednesday, Craig Peters of the team's official website reports.

Vannett has decided to stick around Minnesota after the team released him Tuesday. The tight end has played in 111 regular-season contests over his nine-year NFL career, and he will provide the Vikings with a rather experienced depth option on their practice unit ahead of the 2025 campaign.

  • Bryson Nesbit TE | MIN

Bryson Nesbit: Joins Vikings' practice squad

Nesbit was signed to the Vikings' practice squad Wednesday, Craig Peters of the team's official website reports.

Nesbit cleared waivers after being let go by Minnesota on Tuesday, and he will now open the 2025 season as a member of the team's practice squad. The tight end will look to earn an elevation to the active roster at some point this season and make his NFL debut.

  • Thomas Odukoya: Staying in Tennessee

The Titans signed Odukoya to the practice squad Wednesday, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports.

Odukoya ended last season on the Titans' practice squad, and he'll reprise that role for the 2025 campaign. He'll provide organizational depth at tight end and could be elevated to the active roster if Chig Okonkwo, Gunnar Helm or David Martin-Robinson are unable to play.

  • Treyton Welch: Stays put on practice squad

Welch signed with the Saints' practice squad Wednesday, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

Welch spent the 2024 season on the Saints' practice squad and will stick around for another campaign. An undrafted free agent out of Wyoming, Welch wasn't super productive at college, and he caught six of seven targets for 65 yards during this preseason.
