    Todd Gurley RB | ATL

Report: Rams' Todd Gurley expected to make NFL debut Sunday

Rams running back Todd Gurley (knee) is expected to play Sunday against the Steelers, NFL.com reports.

Gurley is officially listed as questionable for the game, but he was taking first-team reps with Tre Mason during Friday's full practice, indicating he's ready to go. He will apparently have a pregame warmup for the coaches to ensure he's ready, but it's looking very promising for the rookie to make his return after tearing his ACL last November when he was at the University of Georgia.

While he is expected to take over the starting job at some point, it wouldn't be surprising if he shares reps with Mason and Benny Cunningham early on.

  • Report: Cardinals RB Andre Ellington out Sunday

Cardinals running back Andre Ellington (knee) will not play this week against San Francisco, reports Josina Anderson of ESPN.

The team designated Ellington as doubtful for on the injury report Friday, so Fantasy owners should already have put him on the bench this week. Chris Johnson will likely be the top option with David Johnson also getting plenty of looks out of the backfield.

  • Cardinals RB Andre Ellington now listed as doubtful for Week 3

Cardinals running back Andre Ellington (knee) is officially listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the 49ers.

Although Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said Friday that Ellington will be a game-time decision, the running back's injury designation suggests he'll have to wait another week. Chris Johnson will likely get the start, with David Johnson serving as the top backup. In the unlikely event he does suit up, Ellington would probably have a limited role.

  • Coach: Cardinals RB Andre Ellington game-time decision

Bruce Arians has announced that Cardinals running back Andre Ellington (knee) will be a game-time decision for Sunday against San Francisco, per Mike Jurecki of FOX Sports 910.

The comment suggests that Ellington at least returned to a limited practice Friday, He still seems unlikely to play, but this is a good sign for his Week 4 status, at the very least.

  • Ravens RB Lorenzo Taliaferro back in action Friday

Ravens running back Lorenzo Taliaferro (foot) took part in practice Friday, per Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com.

Taliaferro did not suit up the previous two days, but with him back on the field, he will still have a chance to play in Week 3 against Cincinnati.

  • Texans RB Jonathan Grimes (knee) a game-time decision

Texans running back Jonathan Grimes (knee) will be an "end-of-the-week, game-time decision," according to Houston head coach Bill O'Brien.

Grimes has yet to practice this week leading up to the encounter with Tampa Bay. If he's unable to go, both Alfred Blue and Chris Polk will get more snaps.

  • Matt Jones RB | WAS

Redskins RB Matt Jones has rough game in Week 3 loss to Giants

Redskins running back Matt Jones started Thursday's game against the Giants, but he only managed 38 yards on 11 carries, and he lost a fumble for the second straight week.

Alfred Morris only had six carries for 19 yards, with Chris Thompson contributing 10 touches (eight receptions) for 86 yards and a touchdown. Thompson actually led the team's running back with 39 snaps, compared to 26 for Jones and 12 for Morris, according to Pro Football Focus. Jones appears to have overtaken Morris as the team's lead back, but all three players figure to have significant roles, with Thompson getting most of the passing-down snaps. Jones started Thursday's game with a few nice runs, but he largely disappeared from the second-half gameplan until he lost a back-breaking fumble at the Giants' goal line in the fourth quarter. Despite his early issues with ball security, Jones will likely get more touches than Morris in Week 4 against the Eagles.

  • Cardinals RB Andre Ellington doesn't practice Thursday

Cardinals running back Andre Ellington (knee) was listed as a non-participant at Thursday's practice.

Ellington did some individual work on the side, but he didn't participate in any drills with teammates. He's not expected to return for Sunday's game against the 49ers, leaving Chris Johnson as the likely starter, with David Johnson serving as the top backup.

  • Cardinals RB Andre Ellington toils on the side in Thursday's session

Cardinals running back Andre Ellington (knee) worked on the side at Thursday's practice, Mike Jurecki of FOX Sports 910 Phoenix reports.

Typically, such a workload is accompanied by a designation of "did not practice," but the Cardinals will clear up Ellington's activity level in short order.

While he's expected to sit out Sunday against San Francisco, any deviation from a DNP would be an encouraging sign and throw a wrench into the running back pecking order, which currently places Chris Johnson in a workhorse role with David Johnson spelling the veteran.

  • Texans RB Jonathan Grimes (knee) sidelined Thursday

Texans running back Jonathan Grimes (knee) will not practice Thursday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

What had been described as a relatively minor issue will now keep Grimes out of practice for a second consecutive day.

With Arian Foster still working his way back from a groin injury and iffy to play Sunday, Alfred Blue and Chris Polk could be leaned on more if Grimes is unable to go.
