  • Cardinals add RB Kerwynn Williams to practice squad

Running back Kerwynn Williams was added to the Cardinals' practice squad Wednesday, the team's official site reports.

Promoted to the Cardinals' active roster in advance of Week 2 to serve as running back depth with Andre Ellington (knee) out of commission, Williams garnered only eight of 59 offensive snaps, which he translated into one carry for three yards.

If Ellington sits out again Sunday versus the 49ers, Williams could again be bumped up to the 53-man roster.

  • Ravens RB Lorenzo Taliaferro (foot) misses practice Wednesday

Ravens running back Lorenzo Taliaferro (foot) missed practice Wednesday, the Baltimore Sun reports.

Given that a foot injury ended Taliaferro's rookie season last December, this is a situation to monitor, though as long as Justin Forsett is healthy, Taliaferro's fantasy upside is capped in his role as the Ravens' No. 2 back. Currently behind Taliaferro in the team's RB pecking order is Javorius Allen.

  • Cardinals RB Andre Ellington (knee) didn't practice Wednesday

Cardinals running back Andre Ellington (knee) didn't participate in practice Wednesday, Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports.

Ellington's sprained PCL continues to keep him sidelined, which supports the notion that he won't play in Week 3. As long as he remains out, Chris Johnson will act as the primary running back, with David Johnson serving in a change-of-pace capacity.

  • Texans RB Jonathan Grimes has minor knee issue

Texans running back Jonathan Grimes is dealing with 'a relatively minor knee injury,' according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle

Just the same, with Arian Foster iffy, at best, for this week's action and Grimes ailing, the Texans added fellow running back Daryl Richardson to their practice squad.

  • Cardinals part ways with RB Kerwynn Williams

The Cardinals have waived running back Kerwynn Williams. The move creates a roster spot for the reinstatement of tackle Bobby Massie, with the Cards having bolstered their backfield depth by adding Mike Gillislee to their practice squad.

  • Texans RB Jonathan Grimes not at Wednesday's practice

Texans running back Jonathan Grimes (undisclosed issue) did not practice Wednesday, the Houston Chronicle's Aaron Wilson reports.

With Arian Foster still bouncing back from a groin injury and Grimes banged up, the Texans have added running back Daryl Richardson to their practice squad.

  • Cardinals RB Andre Ellington expected to be out for Week 3

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said he expects running back Andre Ellington (knee) to miss this Sunday's game against the 49ers, Alex Marvez of FOX Sports 1 reports.

On a more positive note, Arians seemed more hopeful that Ellington would be back for the following week's game against the Rams. Ellington has since resumed running, but figures to be little more than a limited participant in practices this week.

  • Terrence Magee RB | ATL

    Ravens release RB Terrence Magee

Running back Terrence Magee has been released by the Ravens, the Baltimore Sun's Jeff Zrebiec reports.

An undrafted rookie out of LSU, Magee became expendable due to the return of Lorenzo Taliaferro, who missed Week 1 with a knee injury. Magee could land on the Baltimore practice squad.

  • Bears RB Jacquizz Rodgers receives two carries in Week 2

Bears running back Jacquizz Rodgers had two running attempts and gained eight yards in Sunday's 48-23 loss to the Cardinals. He wasn't targeted in the passing game.

After ranking second in running-back snaps for the Bears in the season opener, Rodgers seemed to be bypassed in favor of rookie Jeremy Langford on Sunday. Langford finished the afternoon with six carries to Rodgers' two, and was on the field for the entirety of the Bears' 11-play touchdown drive in the second quarter while starter Matt Forte rested.

Forte remains in line to receive the bulk of the snaps at the position, but look for Langford to take on an increased role in the weeks to come, especially if the 0-2 Bears fall out of playoff contention early. Such a development would likely result in Rodgers seeing his snap count plunge even further from here.

  • Alfred Morris RB | NYG

    Matt Jones RB | WAS

Redskins RB Alfred Morris OK with playing second-fiddle Sunday

Redskins featured back Alfred Morris was not really the featured back Sunday in a defeat of St. Louis. But he is at least claiming indifference that Matt Jones wound up with more carries than him.

Jones finished with 19 rushes for 123 yards and two touchdowns while Morris had 18 attempts for 59 yards. The latter managed just seven yards on 10 tries in the second half.

"We don't care," Morris told the Washington Post. "The only thing that matters around here is winning. The last two years we've had seven wins. That's not going to get it done. That's tough. I don't care who gets the stats or who is making the plays. As long as we're winning, that's all that matters. That's what we did today. ... I'm super happy."

Morris rushed for 121 yards on 25 carries in the opener, but has yet to score this season.
