Ellington (quadriceps) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Kyle Odegard of the Cardinals' official site reports.

Ellington was also limited during the Cardinals' first practice of the week Wednesday, but the expectation remains that he'll be able to suit up Sunday against San Francisco with Arizona coming off a bye. Even if that's the case, Ellington isn't expected to see much work outside of obvious passing downs, as Cardinals offensive coordinator Harold Goodwin implied that the team intends to lean heavily on an Adrian Peterson-led ground game in Week 9 with quarterback Drew Stanton set to make his first start of season in place of the injured Carson Palmer (arm).

McFadden could be inactive for Sunday's game against the Chiefs after starting running back Ezekiel Elliott was granted a temporary stay of his six-game suspension Friday, Dan Graziano of ESPN.com reports.

A healthy scratch all season, McFadden was expected to play in Sunday's game, though he would have still been behind Alfred Morris and likely Rod Smith in the pecking order. Since the Cowboys aren't likely to keep four running backs active with Elliott now eligible to play in the contest, McFadden will likely be left as the odd man out.

The United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit granted Elliott a temporary stay of his suspension Friday, making him eligible to play in Sunday's game against the Chiefs, Dan Graziano of ESPN.com reports.

The Cowboys had been preparing for Elliott to miss Sunday's contest, as it seemed he was finally set to begin serving his six-game suspension, which the NFL first handed down in August. It turns out he'll be available for at least one more week, with Elliott aiming to build off a 150-yard, two-score performance in the Cowboys' 33-19 win over the Redskins in Week 8. Per Graziano, Elliott could begin serving the suspension as early as Week 10, with Second Circuit Court judges scheduled to convene next week to hear his request for an injunction that overturns judge Katherine Failla's ruling to deny the running back's request for a stay. Friday's ruling stems from the emergency motion the NFLPA filed Wednesday.

Elliott will be able to play against the Chiefs on Sunday after the Court of Appeals 2nd Circuit granted him an administrative stay Friday morning, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

The back and forth continues, as it previously seemed that Elliott would finally begin his six-game suspension this Sunday against the Chiefs, but yet another procedural workaround will allow him to continue playing.

Kelley (ankle) was a limited participant during Thursday's practice.

Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said earlier Thursday that Kelley is "close to being ready" for Sunday's game against the Seahawks, according to JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington, and the running back's consecutive limited practices would seem to add credence to that notion. Kelley could log a more extensive workout Friday, but if he remains limited again, he'll likely carry a questionable designation heading into the Week 9 matchup.

Washington (concussion) was listed as a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.

Washington's involvement in any capacity for the Lions' first practice of the week implies that he's made some progress through the concussion protocol after the head injury resulted in his early removal during the Week 8 loss to the Steelers. He'll still need to receive clearance from an independent neurologist in order to play Monday against the Packers, but Washington has a few more days to prove he's healthy.

Jones missed practice Thursday due to an ankle injury.

The lack of practice participation represents a step back for Jones, who was limited during the Colts' first session of the week. The running back will have one more chance to prove he's reasonably healthy during Friday's practice, but in any case, Jones won't be in line for many snaps behind Frank Gore and Marlon Mack.

West (calf) wasn't present for practice Thursday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun reports.

With two straight absences from practice on the heels of missing three consecutive games with the left calf issue, West looks bound to sit out again Sunday against the Titans. Once he's back to full health, West could find himself behind Alex Collins, Javorius Allen and potentially Danny Woodhead (hamstring) in the Ravens' backfield pecking order, which would severely limit his fantasy appeal.

McFadden will be the Cowboys' No. 3 running back behind Alfred Morris and Rod Smith on Sunday versus the Chiefs, Jane Slater of NFL Network reports.

Morris has been confirmed as the starter in Dallas' first game without Ezekiel Elliott, who will start his six-game suspension this weekend. After Morris, the depth chart reads Smith and McFadden. Smith may have earned the role due to his special-teams prowess, which has ensured active status in all seven outings this season. As for McFadden, he's been a regular deactivation on game day. With his first touch of the campaign imminent, though, he'll have a chance to commence his push up the roster.

Breida was limited at Wednesday's practice due to a knee injury, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Per Matt Barrows of The Sacramento Bee, Breida wore a blue no-contact jersey at Wednesday's practice but nonetheless looked like he was on track to play in Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Should Breida end up missing time, Raheem Mostert likely would step in as Carlos Hyde's top backup. Assuming this knee injury isn't serious, it will be interesting to see if Breida gets more work as the 49ers shift their focus toward talent evaluation in the second half of the season. Hyde is a known commodity who can hit unrestricted free agency in the offseason.
