  • Akeem Hunt RB | KC

Chiefs' Akeem Hunt: Suffers shoulder injury

Hunt hurt his shoulder and is considered questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Chiefs.

Hunt was having himself a nice day on special teams before exiting, logging 76 yards on three kickoff returns. If he can't return Sunday, De'Anthony Thomas would presumably take over kickoff-return responsibilities.

  • Samaje Perine RB | CIN

    Redskins' Samaje Perine: Returns Sunday

Perine (Achilles) returned to Sunday's game versus the Broncos.

After sitting out a portion of the fourth quarter to have his Achilles examined, Perine was made available for the rest of the contest. If the injury persists into Week 17 prep, the hype surrounding reserve running back Kapri Bibbs could finally yield fruit in Washington.

  • Samaje Perine RB | CIN

Redskins' Samaje Perine: Injures Achilles on Sunday

Perine is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Broncos due to an Achilles injury.

Perine has been befallen by one of the few dreaded injuries, at least before the final diagnosis is known. Clearly, the Redskins are leaving the door open for reentry to the contest, but if he doesn't make another appearance, he'll finish Week 16 with 15 carries for 53 yards and three receptions (on as many targets) for 21 yards. In his stead, the Redskins will turn to Kapri Bibbs out of the backfield.

  • Thomas Rawls RB | JAC

Seahawks' Thomas Rawls: Back in uniform Sunday

Rawls is active for Sunday's game against the Cowboys, the Seattle Times reports.

Rawls was inactive last weekend against the Rams, but he's back in uniform in Week 16 to serve as the Seahawks' No. 3 running back behind Mike Davis and J.D. McKissic. Meanwhile, the team made veteran Eddie Lacy a healthy scratch Sunday.

  • Cardinals' Kerwynn Williams: Active Sunday

Williams (quadriceps) is active for Sunday's game against the Giants, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.

Williams sustained cracked ribs Week 12, but Adrian Peterson's placement on IR with a neck injury allowed the understudy to get another extended crack with the first-team offense. Over the last three games, Williams has settled in as the No. 1 running back, averaging 17.7 carries for 77 yards, but his first touchdown since the regular-season opener awaits.

  • Joe Mixon RB | HOU

Bengals' Joe Mixon: Exits with ankle injury

Mixon injured his left ankle and is considered questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Lions.

Mixon went down midway through the first quarter after gaining 32 yards of total offense. In his absence, the Bengals will presumably turn to Giovani Bernard as their featured runner.

  • Lions' Dwayne Washington: Inactive in Week 16

Washington (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's Week 16 tilt against the Bengals.

Washington's most recent game action came in Week 10 against Cleveland, and with the trio of Ameer Abdullah, Theo Riddick and Tion Green all suiting up Sunday, he and fellow back Zach Zenner are the odd men out. Washington has been limited to five games in 2017, rushing for 44 yards on 20 carries and adding a pair of receptions for 14 yards.

  • Zach Zenner RB | NO

Lions' Zach Zenner: Inactive in Week 16

Zenner (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's Week 16 tilt against the Bengals.

The third-year back will thus be a healthy scratch for the second consecutive week, as Ameer Abdullah, Theo Riddick and Tion Green will once again helm the Lions backfield. Zenner has seen action in only eight games this season and primarily has been limited to short-yardage and goal-line work, as evidenced by his scant 14 carries for 26 yards and one touchdown on the campaign.

  • Patriots' Mike Gillislee: Returns to the mix Sunday

Gillislee is active for Sunday's game against the Bills.

With both Rex Burkhead (knee) and James White (ankle) out this week, Gillislee -- who was last active Oct. 29 -- is in line to work in tandem with Dion Lewis, who has emerged as the Patriots' lead back of late. It was presumably Gillislee's nose for the end zone that prompted the Patriots to sign the running back away from Buffalo, and it's not hard to imagine him seeing some goal-line opportunities in his return to the mix in Week 16, against his former team.

  • Austin Ekeler RB | WAS

Chargers' Austin Ekeler: Active in Week 16

Ekeler (hand) is active for Sunday's Week 16 tilt against the Jets.

As expected, Ekeler will take the field, but the broken ring finger on his left hand will reportedly limit him exclusively to special teams work. Ekeler's expected absence from the ground game bodes well for Melvin Gordon owners heading into their championship games and should also afford Branden Oliver some touches as the change-of-pace back.
