Corey Clement RB | ARI
Eagles' Corey Clement: Totals 32 yards in preseason opener
Clement gained 30 yards on five rushing attempts and caught both of his targets for a total of two yards in Thursday's 31-14 preseason loss to Pittsburgh.
Clement showed why he has a firm spot in the Philadelphia backfield when he rushed for at least five yards on each of his first four carries and also flashed his pass-catching chops. The former undrafted rookie's emergence began late last season and continued in the postseason, and he's in line for a possible breakout this year behind starter Jay Ajayi.

Matt Breida RB | SF
49ers' Matt Breida: Won't be available until Week 1
Breida (shoulder) will miss the rest of the preseason, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
After an MRI didn't reveal any structural damage in Breida's separated shoulder, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said he expects the second-year running back to be ready for Week 1. However, the injury is still a small ding to Breida's fantasy prospects, as additional preseason work might have helped him make a case to take a large chunk out of Jerick McKinnon's workload. The Niners will turn to Joe Williams, Jeremy McNichols or Raheem Mostert for the No. 2 RB job if Breida isn't available Week 1.

Dalvin Cook RB | DAL
Vikings' Dalvin Cook: May see the field Saturday
Cook (knee) may play in Saturday's preseason game at Denver, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Previously, it was the running back himself that was "hopeful" of a preseason appearance, which was substantiated by coach Mike Zimmer, per Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Now, it appears Cook has a real shot to suit up a little more than 10 months removed from a torn left ACL. Even so, Cook is unlikely to see more than a series or two per game until the regular season.

Dalton Crossan RB | IND
Dalton Crossan: Reaches injury agreement
Crossan (undisclosed) and the Buccaneers have reached an agreement on an injury settlement, per NFL Communications.
Crossan's 2018 run with the Buccaneers will end the exact same way as it did with the Colts a season ago -- the fullback collecting an injury settlement and hitting the open market. He was vying for a roster spot prior to the injury in 2018, so there's still a chance he could do so when back on the field next season.

Ray Lawry RB | CIN
Ray Lawry: Dropped by Bengals
The Bengals cut ties with Lawry on Friday.
The undrafted rookie attempted to make a name for himself, but he faced an uphill battle with Joe Mixon, Giovani Bernard and Mark Walton all seemingly locked into a job. He's now free to explore the open market for another opportunity.

Samaje Perine RB | CIN
Redskins' Samaje Perine: Moving up depth chart
Perine's workload for the upcoming season is expected to increase following Derrius Guice's ACL tear, Peter Hailey of NBC Sports Washington reports.
Injury struck the 2018 second-round pick during Thursday's preseason game in New England, ending the rookie's campaign before it even started. The rest of the backfield will benefit, barring a free-agent signing before Week 1. While Chris Thompson (leg) is the pass-catching back, Perine and Rob Kelley are on pace for an increase in their respective workloads. Perine got far more work than Kelley a season ago -- 197 touches versus 66 -- but the split was actually pretty even before the latter was placed on injured reserve.
-
Rob Kelley RB | NO
Redskins' Rob Kelley: Workload bump expected
Kelley's workload for the upcoming season is expected to increase following Derrius Guice's ACL tear, Peter Hailey of NBC Sports Washington reports.
Guice suffered the unfortunate injury during Thursday's preseason game at New England, wiping out his rookie campaign in the process. The rest of the backfield will benefit, barring a free-agent signing before Week 1. While Chris Thompson (leg) will handle pass-catching duties, Kelley and Samaje Perine are in line for a bump in their respective workloads. Perine received far more work than Kelley a season ago -- 197 touches versus 66 -- and the responsibility of production on early downs will fall in the laps of the duo.

Marlon Mack RB | ARI
Colts' Marlon Mack: Out a few weeks
Mack is expected to miss a few weeks due to a hamstring strain, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports.
Mack limped off the field during Thursday's exhibition at Seattle, but the injury isn't considered to be serious. With the Colts' expected No. 1 back out of commission, Jordan Wilkins, Nyheim Hines and Robert Turbin (suspension) will work with the first-team offense for the rest of the preseason.

Matt Breida RB | SF
49ers' Matt Breida: MRI reveals no structural damage
An MRI revealed that Breida's shoulder has no structural damage, and the running back is hopeful to be ready in time for the regular season, Tom Pelissero of NFL.com reports.
Most 49ers fans can breathe a sigh of relief, as this outcome was one of the team's preferred scenarios after Breida exited Thursday's preseason opener favoring one of his shoulders. San Francisco is now hoping Breida can return to full health prior to Week 1 behind nothing more than a prescription of rest and rehab. In fact, since the running back didn't sustain any structural damage, there's a possibility Breida could be back in practice on a non-contact basis long before the start of the regular season.

Gus Edwards RB | LAC
Ravens' Gus Edwards: Churns out 58 yards against Rams
Edwards ran for 58 yards on 12 carries in Thursday's preseason game against the Rams.
It was much smoother sailing for Edwards than his preseason debut against the Bears as he carved the Rams for nearly five yards per carry. As it stands, the Ravens have two locks at running back in Alex Collins and Javorius Allen, with Kenneth Dixon likely slotting in as the third running back. However, Edwards will be tough for the coaching staff to leave off the roster, or at least the practice squad, if he has more outings like Thursday's.
