Marlon Mack RB | ARI
Colts' Marlon Mack: Held out of practice
Mack (concussion) didn't practice Wednesday, putting his availability for Sunday's game in Jacksonville in serious question, Kevin Bowen of 1070 The Fan Indianapolis reports.
The nature of the NFL's concussion protocol makes it difficult for a player to gain clearance by Sunday without logging some level of participation early in the week. Mack thus needs to practice in at least a limited capacity Thursday or Friday to have any realistic shot at avoiding a Week 13 absence. The Colts likely are preparing for Sunday's game under the assumption Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins will handle most of the backfield work.

Gus Edwards RB | LAC
Ravens' Gus Edwards: Held out of practice
Edwards didn't take part in Wednesday's practice but may have just been held out for maintenance purposes after handling 40 carries the past two weeks, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
Edwards didn't mention any injury while taking with the media prior to practice. It's still worth keeping an eye out for how the Ravens list Edwards' absence when they release their initial Week 13 injury report later Wednesday. Fellow running back Alex Collins (foot) also was held out of Wednesday's practice and is viewed as day-to-day ahead of Sunday's contest against Atlanta, so Edwards could be trending toward a third consecutive week as the Ravens' clear lead option out of the backfield, per Hensley.

Marlon Mack RB | ARI
Colts' Marlon Mack: Remains in protocol
Coach Frank Reich said Wednesday that Mack remains in the NFL's concussion protocol, Andrew Walker of the Colts' official site reports.
Reich didn't elaborate on whether Mack would take part in the Colts' first practice of the week Wednesday, but even limited involvement in that session would represent a sign of progress in the running back's recovery from the head injury, which forced him to exit in the fourth quarter of the Week 12 win over the Dolphins. If Mack is unable to pass through the five-step protocol in advance of Sunday's game against the Jaguars, Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins would likely share the Colts' backfield snaps.

Ameer Abdullah RB | JAC
Vikings' Ameer Abdullah: Targeted once in win
Abdullah was targeted once but did not record a catch during Sunday's 24-17 win over the Packers.
Abdullah has just one touch in two games in Minnesota and, after two kick returns in Week 11, did not bring the ball out on Sunday. The top of the Vikings' stable is pretty set with Latavius Murray and Dalvin Cook. Though Abdullah's speed could conceivably add another dimension to the attack, you should see it before you believe it. The Patriots' bottom-10 total defense looms Sunday, but Abdullah won't get many offensive chances to test it.

Detrez Newsome RB | LAC
Chargers' Detrez Newsome: Gains first yards of season
Newsome ran for 15 yards on four carries during Sunday's 45-10 win over Arizona.
Newsome had just one touch for no yardage heading into Sunday. All four of Newsome's carries came during the Chargers' final full drive of the game, with Melvin Gordon (knee) knocked out of action. With Gordon likely sidelined on a week-to-week basis moving forward, expect a modest role for Newsome. Sunday brings a Pittsburgh defense ranked in the top half of the league against the run, surrendering 4.2 yards per carry.

Godwin Igwebuike RB | PIT
49ers' Godwin Igwebuike: Claimed by San Fran
Igwebuike was claimed off waivers by the 49ers on Tuesday.
Igwebuike was waived by the Buccaneers on Monday after being promoted from the team's practice squad earlier this month. He recorded one tackle as he played in one of two games while on the team. The 24-year-old brings some much needed depth to the safety spot with Jimmie Ward (forearm) on injured reserve, and Jaquiski Tartt (shoulder) and D.J. Reed (heel) also nursing injuries.

C.J. Anderson RB | LAR
C.J. Anderson: Has workout with Lions
Anderson worked out for the Lions on Tuesday, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM Radio reports.
In Detroit's first game without Kerryon Johnson (knee) on Thanksgiving, the backfield fared well against a stout Bears defensive front, combining for 23 carries for 109 yards and two touchdowns. LeGarrette Blount took on the bulk of the work -- 19 runs for 88 yards and the pair of scores -- which was more than double his carry count (7.8 per game) from the first 10 contests of the season. While the Lions may be doing their due diligence with Anderson, he could take some of the burden off Blount if he lands a deal in Detroit.

D'Onta Foreman RB | CLE
Texans' D'Onta Foreman: Still not 100 percent
Coach Bill O'Brien revealed Tuesday that Foreman (Achilles) is not "all the way back" yet, Deepi Sidhu of the Texans' official site reports.
Foreman is in the midst of his 21-day evaluation period for a return from injured reserve and has reportedly been making some progress. O'Brien's comment suggests Foreman stands a slim chance of suiting up in Week 13 against the Browns, though the running back hasn't officially been ruled out yet. With Lamar Miller averaging 4.9 yards per carry after a huge Week 12 performance, Foreman isn't guaranteed to have a meaningful role in the offense if/when he is activated from IR.

Derrick Henry RB | BAL
Titans' Derrick Henry: Coughs it up late
Henry rushed eight times for 30 yards in Monday's 34-17 loss to the Texans. He also caught two of his three targets for 20 yards, but lost a fumble following one of the receptions.
Henry was stripped on Tennessee's final offensive play of the game, concluding a poor night for the team's tailbacks. Starter Dion Lewis managed just eight yards on his seven carries, leaving wideout Corey Davis as the Titans' leading rusher with one carry for 39 yards. While Lewis' recent ineffectiveness on the ground would theoretically stand to benefit Henry, the fact that Henry has topped 40 yards just twice in the last six games points to a more prolonged lack of production. Heading into a Week 13 matchup with the Jets, Henry's value mostly derives in his potential goal-line usage.

Godwin Igwebuike RB | PIT
Godwin Igwebuike: Let go by Tampa Bay
Igwebuike was waived by the Buccaneers on Monday, Eduardo A. Encina of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Igwebuike was initially promoted to the Buccaneers' active roster on Nov. 16, but he's now parted ways with the team. In his lone game with Tampa Bay, Igwebuike played 12 special teams snaps and recorded one assisted tackle. The undrafted rookie will now be subjected to league waivers and will be free to search for a depth role if he goes unclaimed.
