  • Dalvin Cook RB | DAL

Vikings' Dalvin Cook: Sitting out Sunday

Cook is unlikely to play in Sunday's preseason matchup with the Seahawks, Andrew Krammer of the Star Tibune reports.

Krammer notes that Cook has a sweatshirt on under his jersey, which obviously isn't the type of attire one would wear in-game. It wouldn't be surprising to see Cook sit out the entirety of preseason to preserve his health for the games that matter.

  • Colts' Jonathan Williams: Breaks rib Saturday

Williams suffered a broken rib during Saturday's preseason game against the Browns, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

The injury forced Williams out of the game and he was unable to return. Even though it ended his night early, the injury isn't expected to be serious per Rapoport. As long as Williams is sidelined, the door should be open for more reps for newly acquired D'Onta Foreman.

  • Packers' Jamaal Williams: Makes healthy return

Williams (hamstring) returned for Sunday's practice, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.

Williams had been nursing a hamstring injury and finally practiced for the first time since the second day of camp. His return might warrant a tiny downgrade for Aaron Jones, who could've been headed for a huge workload if Williams didn't make it back before Week 1. Williams' return at the very least will leave fewer practice reps for rookie Dexter Williams as the season draws closer.

  • Jordan Wilkins RB | CLE

Colts' Jordan Wilkins: Held out with foot injury

Wilkins (foot) didn't play in Saturday's preseason game against Cleveland.

Starting running back Marlon Mack managed just 10 yards on six carries before giving way to Jonathan Williams (three carries for 15 yards) and eventually D'Onta Foreman (two touches for zero yards). With Nyheim Hines locked in for passing downs, Wilkins seems to be competing with Foreman, Williams and Aca'Cedric Ware for one or two roster spots. The continued absences from practices and preseason games are problematic for a player in Wilkins' position.

  • Falcons' Kenjon Barner: Back at practice

Barner (undisclosed) was back in full pads for Sunday's practice, Kelsey Conway of the Falcons' official site reports.

Barner was forced to sit out Thursday's preseason game against the Jets and had been dealing with an undisclosed injury for the past week. Now that he's back for practice, expect him to see a bulk of the work on punt- and kick-return units.

  • Bengals' Trayveon Williams: Out for remainder of preseason

Williams (foot) will not play in either of the team's final two preseason games, Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site reports.

Williams suffered the injury during Thursday's game against the Redskins, and was unable to return. Head coach Zac Taylor continued on to say that the Texas A&M product could return for Week 2 of the regular season at the earliest. With Williams sidelined, Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard will receive the bulk of work during Thursday's preseason game against the Giants as they prepare for the regular season.

  • Chiefs' Damien Williams: Makes brief appearance as starter

Williams got the start and drew one target on five snaps in Saturday's preseason loss to Pittsburgh.

Williams played one drive before giving way to Carlos Hyde, who took five carries for 23 yards but also lost a fumble and didn't draw any targets. Rookie sixth-round pick Darwin Thompson had another strong showing with 30 yards on four carries, working third through the rotation after the two veterans. No longer bothered by a hamstring injury, Williams is on track for the Week 1 start, though it isn't quite clear how much playing time he'll relinquish to Hyde and/or Thompson. Williams doesn't need huge snap counts to put up strong fantasy numbers in the Kansas City offense -- he averaged 100.4 scrimmage yards and 1.7 touchdowns on 43.3 snaps (65 percent) over the final six games (including playoffs) last season.

  • Tony Pollard RB | TEN

Cowboys' Tony Pollard: Carries load on lone drive

Pollard carried five times for 42 yards and a touchdown while catching his lone target for a nine-yard gain during Saturday's 14-10 preseason win over the Rams.

Pollard got the start but only participated on one drive, a 97-yard march by the Dallas offense. He was especially impressive on his 14-yard touchdown run, exploding through the hole and lowering his shoulder to punch his way in. Pollard has drawn rave reviews during camp and finally showed what he's capable of after a solid, albeit unspectacular, preseason debut. Ezekiel Elliott's contract holdout continues to dominate the headlines, so at the very least, Pollard makes for a nice contingency plan. He should play deeper into next Saturday's preseason game against the Texans.

  • Alex Barnes RB | TEN

Titans' Alex Barnes: Leads team in rushing

Barnes carried the ball seven times for 42 yards in the Titans' second preseason game against the Patriots.

Barnes led the team in rush attempts for the second preseason contest, but this time managed more efficiency with his work. On the team's first offensive possession of the second half, Barnes received five consecutive carries and rushed for a solid 31 yards. This was a vast improvement over his first preseason performance and could keep him in the running to make the roster, especially if Dalyn Dawkins (undisclosed) is held out for any considerable amount of time.

  • Titans' Jeremy McNichols: Contributes in passing game

McNichols ran for 13 yards on six attempts, adding three receptions for 24 yards and a touchdown during Saturday's 22-17 preseason loss to the Patriots.

The former Boise State Bronco continues to pop in the preseason, supplying one of Tennessee's two receiving touchdowns Saturday after leading the team in rushing in the opener against Philadelphia. He was listed as the Titans' fourth-string running back on the initial unofficial depth chart, but he could elevate over David Fluellen with continued production against the Steelers and Bears in the Titans' third and fourth preseason installments.
