Steelers' James Conner: Believes he will play in Week 3

Conner (knee) expressed confidence Monday that he'll be able to suit up for Week 3's game against the 49ers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Per the report, the running back avoided a serious injury in Sunday's loss to the Seahawks, and it now looks like he may not miss any action. That's a huge break for the Steelers, who will be without QB Ben Roethlisberger (elbow) for the rest of the season. Looking ahead, the team figures to lean heavily on Conner, as well as wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster, who profile as the team's top two playmakers in an offense now helmed by Mason Rudolph.

  • Josh Jacobs RB | GB

Raiders' Josh Jacobs: Dealing with groin issue

Head coach Jon Gruden said Monday that Jacobs is nursing a groin issue, Scott Bair of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

The news is certainly a little worrisome for fantasy owners, who have enjoyed Jacobs' 35 carries for 184 yards (5.3 YPC) and two touchdowns through his first two games in the league. It's unclear how serious the issue is, although the rookie's degree of participation in practice this week will help shine a light on his status for Sunday's matchup with Minnesota.

  • Bills' Devin Singletary: Still awaiting injury feedback

Coach Sean McDermott said Monday the team is still gathering information regarding Singletary's hamstring injury and that the running back is day-to-day for now, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.

At least it's not the "he's out for several months" news we're seeing throughout the league on a dark Monday. Singletary has made the most out of limited opportunities behind Frank Gore, carrying 10 times for 127 yards and his first NFL touchdown run Sunday, as well as a 5-28-0 line on six targets in the passing game. His arrow is trending upward if the hamstring injury isn't significant, something we'll likely know more about when the Bills resume practicing Wednesday.

  • Justice Hill RB | BAL

Ravens' Justice Hill: Minimal involvement in Week 2

Hill had one carry for four yards and added one catch for 10 yards in Sunday's win over the Cardinals.

Mark Ingram was on the field for 46 of the Ravens' 79 plays, while Hill and Edwards each saw 16 snaps. Hill came just shy of scoring his first career touchdown on his 10-yard reception but was otherwise uninvolved in the offense for the most part. His ability as a pass catcher should get him on the field over Gus Edwards in passing down situations when Mark Ingram needs a breather, but Hill doesn't seem to have a projectable and consistent role at this stage.

  • Gus Edwards RB | LAC

Ravens' Gus Edwards: Sees reduced role in Week 2

Edwards had three carries for 11 yards in Sunday's win over the Cardinals.

The Ravens didn't have the luxury of pulling their starters against the Cardinals, which led to Mark Ingram taking the majority of the running back snaps. Edwards, who saw 17 carries in the opener, played just 16 snaps against Arizona, and his production was modest yet again as he was held under 4.0 yards per carry. It's also worth noting that rookie Justice Hill matched Edwards' play count, although he had two touches for 14 yards. It appears that Baltimore will continue to lean on Ingram in competitive situations, so Edwards could be in for a limited role again in Week 3 when the Ravens go to Arrowhead Stadium to face the Chiefs.

  • Vikings' Alexander Mattison: Four carries Sunday

Mattison had four carries for 25 yards in Sunday's loss at Green Bay.

Mattison played just eight snaps on offense. He continues to be productive when in the game (nine carries for 49 yards Week 1) but is going to have a limited backup role unless Dalvin Cook gets hurt. It's still possible that Mattison could emerge with a goal-line role.

  • James Conner RB | ARI

Steelers' James Conner: Optimism with regard to knee injury

Per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com, "multiple teammates" believe that Conner's knee issue is not serious.

Fowler adds that "the overall sentiment in the locker room is (that Conner's) issue is manageable," while noting that the running back walked through the Steelers' locker room and seemed to be moving fine. While this encouraging context doesn't preclude Conner from missing some time, it appears as though the team won't lose him for long, which is a welcome bit of good news on a day in which it was revealed that QB Ben Roethlisberger will miss the rest of the season with an elbow injury.

  • Chase Edmonds RB | WAS

Cardinals' Chase Edmonds: Manages 17 yards from scrimmage

Edmonds notched one carry for two yards and reeled in both targets for 15 yards during Sunday's 23-17 loss in Baltimore.

Edmonds' usage increased significantly from the season opener to this contest, primarily due to a left wrist injury suffered by David Johnson. Johnson missed one series entirely in the first half and shared reps with Edmonds upon his return, resulting in the latter boosting his offensive snap share from 11 percent Week 1 to 40 percent Sunday. Edmonds has yet to show much in 18 games as a pro, but a larger workload could be on the horizon if Johnson's wrist issue lingers.

  • Colts' Nyheim Hines: Just 14 total yards Sunday

Hines had two carries for nine yards one one reception for five yards on two targets in Sunday's win over Tennessee.

Hines didn't get much work behind Marlon Mack, though he got more snaps on offense (13) than No. 3 running back Jordan Wilkins (10 snaps). However, Wilkins had 82 yards rushing on five carries. Hines is still the No. 2 running back, but his production will be volatile based on when he's needed in the passing game. Still, it's concerning that he has just six carries and six targets combined in the first two games with Jacoby Brissett under center.

  • Samaje Perine RB | CIN

Bengals' Samaje Perine: Special teams only

Perine once again was limited to special teams duty only in the Bengals' Week 2 loss to the Niners.

Perine's roster spot could be in jeopardy once Trayveon Williams (foot) is ready to suit up - it's pretty clear he's not in the Bengals' offensive plans.
