  • Tony Pollard RB | TEN

Cowboys' Tony Pollard: Questionable for Sunday

Pollard (foot) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Washington, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.

Pollard missed practice Wednesday through Friday, after tearing the plantar fascia of his left foot in last Thursday's win over the Saints. Both Pollard and coach Mike McCarthy have suggested the running back will be a game-time decision ahead of Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff, with Corey Clement likely in line to handle the No. 2 RB role if Pollard is inactive. The Cowboys may also consider other options, including reducing Pollard's workload on special teams (he returns kicks) but not offense. It'll be tough to know for sure beforehand, making him a risky Week 14 start even if he's active, while teammate Ezekiel Elliott (knee) gets a modest boost.

  • Bears' Damien Williams: Making return in Week 14

Williams (calf) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Packers.

A full practice Friday has earned Williams clearance to return to game action for the first time since Week 8. He'll compete with rookie Khalil Herbert for the limited touches left behind workhorse David Montgomery, who was also cleared Friday after battling shoulder, groin and glute injuries during the week.

  • Bears' David Montgomery: Cleared to face Packers

Montgomery (shoulder/groin/glute) has been removed from the injury report and will play in Sunday's game against the Packers.

It's no surprise he's nicked up after taking 29 touches for 141 total yards and a TD in the loss to Arizona on Sunday, but Montgomery closed out the week with a full practice and thus figures to be ready for another large workload this Sunday with the Bears desperately hanging on at the bottom of the NFC wild-card race. That said, Montgomery is unlikely to approach last week's total of nine targets with Justin Fields sliding back in for Andy Dalton (doubtful/wrist) under center.

  • Jets' Austin Walter: Should play more with Coleman out

Walter is expected to play a significant role Sunday against the Saints, as Ethan B. Greenberg of the Jets' official site reports that Tevin Coleman (concussion) won't play.

Walter and Ty Johnson are New York's top two healthy running backs, with La'Mical Perine also on hand. Though Walter probably is the team's preferred option on the ground out of the three, finding running room won't be easy against a stout Saints front that's allowing just 96.4 rushing yards per game.

  • Joe Mixon RB | HOU

    Bengals' Joe Mixon: Remains sidelined

Though Mixon (illness) was present for practice Friday, he was not a participant, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Mixon, who has been dealing with an unspecified illness all week, figures to be listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the 49ers. That said, coach Zac Taylor anticipates the running back being able to play, with Ben Baby of ESPN.com noting that the team should have a better idea of where Mixon's Week 14 status stands after he's evaluated Saturday.

  • D'Andre Swift RB | CHI

Lions' D'Andre Swift: Not expected to play Sunday

Coach Dan Campbell said Swift (shoulder) is "unlikely" to play Sunday against the Broncos, Eric Woodyard of ESPN.com reports.

Swift was unable to practice Wednesday and Thursday as he continues to manage a sprained AC joint in his shoulder, and it appears he'll be sidelined for his second straight game Sunday. If the 2020 second-round pick is unavailable, Jamaal Williams is poised for another start in the backfield, with Godwin Igwebuike and Jermar Jefferson (illness) set to serve as the secondary options.

  • Vikings' Alexander Mattison: Back to complementary role

Mattison rushed six times for 27 yards and failed to bring in his only target during the Vikings' 36-28 win over the Steelers on Thursday night.

The talented backup running back returned to his usual spot on the depth chart because Dalvin Cook was able to overcome his shoulder injury and suit up Thursday. Cook went on to deliver the second-best rushing yardage tally of his career (205) on 20 carries, leaving Mattison with only a handful of touches in the Vikings' high-scoring win. As capable as Mattison has proven to be when given extended opportunity, Thursday's results served as a tangible reminder of why Mattison will remain a clear No. 2 behind his teammate as long as Cook is healthy.

  • Najee Harris RB | LAC

Steelers' Najee Harris: Pair of touchdowns in loss

Harris rushed 20 times for 94 yards and a touchdown and brought in all three targets for 10 yards and another score in the Steelers' 36-28 loss to the Vikings on Thursday night.

Harris, like the rest of the Steelers offense, got off to a completely forgettable start over the first two quarters. However, the rookie turned it around during a second half in which Pittsburgh nearly pulled off an improbable comeback, with Harris playing a key role by finding the end zone on a three-yard scoring grab and one-yard touchdown run in the third and fourth quarter, respectively. Harris has now exceeded 100 scrimmage yards in back-to-back contests, and his rushing yardage Thursday served as the third-highest of his career thus far. The 2021 first-round pick's next chance to enhance his impressive resume comes versus the Titans in a Week 15 battle a week from Sunday.

  • Dalvin Cook RB | DAL

Vikings' Dalvin Cook: Spectacular showing in return

Cook (shoulder) rushed 27 times for 205 yards and two touchdowns and brought in one of three targets for 17 yards in the Vikings' 36-28 win over the Steelers on Thursday night.

Cook set the tone for his prolific night with a 20-yard run on his first carry, and he went on to add 29- and seven-yard touchdown scampers before halftime. The fifth-year back looked completely unhampered by the shoulder injury that had caused his Week 13 absence, and his yardage tally was just a yard short of the career-best 206 he accumulated against the Lions back in Week 9 of last season. Cook will now have some extra days to rest and heal up further before a Week 15 NFC North clash against the Bears a week from Monday night.

  • Jeff Wilson RB | MIA

49ers' Jeff Wilson: Logs full practice Thursday

Wilson (knee) practiced in full Thursday.

Wilson hurt his knee this past Sunday at Seattle, but after logging a limited session Wednesday he managed every practice rep one day later. He's put himself in a position to be utilized out of the 49ers backfield this Sunday at Cincinnati in the event Elijah Mitchell needs time off due to a concussion and a knee issue. If Mitchell doesn't make it through the protocol for head injuries, San Francisco will turn to Wilson and JaMycal Hasty as its main running backs Week 14. On the season, Wilson has averaged just 2.7 yards on his 31 carries and hauled in two of three targets for 10 yards in four appearances.
