  • Najee Harris RB | LAC

Steelers' Najee Harris: Exits game with foot injury

Harris was forced out of Sunday's game against the Bengals with a foot injury, Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Prior to his exit from the contest, Harris had carried 10 times for 23 yards and caught two passes for three yards and a TD. Next up for the team's carries and thus a potential Week 2 waiver wire target is Jaylen Warren.

  • Panthers' Christian McCaffrey: Scores despite quiet day

McCaffrey rushed 10 times for 33 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 26-24 loss to the Browns. He also caught all four of his targets for 24 yards.

McCaffrey jumped over the pile for a one-yard touchdown during the second quarter, but his mere five touches in the first half was a surprisingly low total. With the Panthers offense getting going more in the second half, McCaffrey had a few nice gains. Overall, though, his output wasn't anything special to begin the campaign. He'll strive for an improved performance in Week 2 versus the Giants.

  • Falcons' Damien Williams: Back in Sunday's game

Williams (ribs) returned to Sunday's game against the Saints, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.

Williams left this Week 1 divisional clash after the first play of the Falcons' second drive and went to the locker room for a spell. He was spotted back on the sideline after halftime, but it took him until the fourth quarter to get back on the field. Still, Williams likely will be limited to situational work as Cordarrelle Patterson leads the team's backfield.

  • Cardinals' Keaontay Ingram: Sitting out Sunday

Ingram (coach's decision) is listed as inactive Sunday against the Chiefs, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.

The rest of Arizona's backfield is an experienced option, be it with the Cardinals or elsewhere in their respective careers. As such, Ingram, a 2022 sixth-round pick, will have to wait until at least Week 2 at Las Vegas for his first NFL action. In the meantime, James Conner will continue to be the team's primary running back, with Eno Benjamin, Darrel Williams and Jonathan Ward available in reserve.

  • Ty Chandler RB | NO

    Vikings' Ty Chandler: Healthy scratch

Chandler (coach's decision) will not play Sunday against the Packers.

Chandler is currently behind Dalvin Cook, Alexander Mattison and Kene Nwangwu on the team's running back positional depth chart, despite a strong preseason. The rookie will keep working to push his way up the Vikings' ranks, so he can make his NFL debut.

  • Brittain Brown RB | CHI

    Raiders' Brittain Brown: Sidelined Sunday

Brown (coach's decision) was ruled inactive ahead of Sunday's game against the Chargers.

It's unclear why Brown was listed inactive by Las Vegas' coaching staff as he was not dealing with any known injuries during practice this week. Nevertheless, the rookie seventh-round pick was not expected to play a significant role against the Chargers given the Raiders' loaded group of running backs, including Josh Jacobs, Zamir White, Brandon Bolden and Ameer Abdullah.

  • Chargers' Isaiah Spiller: Healthy scratch to start career

Spiller (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's Week 1 matchup against the Raiders, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.

The rookie overcame a preseason ankle injury by returning to practice as a full participant this past week, but the Chargers will still have Spiller in street clothes for the season-opening divisional clash. Recent veteran addition Sony Michel will serve as the No. 3 running back behind the top backfield duo of Austin Ekeler and Joshua Kelley against Las Vegas.

  • Ronald Jones RB | DAL

Chiefs' Ronald Jones: Inactive for opener

Jones (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's season opener against the Cardinals.

With Jones the odd man out Sunday, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Jerick McKinnon and Isiah Pacheco are in line to handle Kansas City's Week 1 backfield duties.

  • 49ers' Elijah Mitchell: Leaves with knee injury Sunday

Mitchell won't return to Sunday's game at Chicago due to a knee injury, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Mitchell may have been the victim of terrible field conditions on a soggy Soldier Field, but the second-year pro will finish Week 1 with six carries for 41 yards. With rookie third-round pick Tyrion Davis-Price a healthy scratch Sunday, the 49ers' healthy options at running back are Jeff Wilson and Jordan Mason.

  • Falcons' Damien Williams: Injures ribs Sunday

Williams suffered a rib injury during Sunday's game against the Saints, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.

Williams remained on the turf after a run of no gain on the first play of Atlanta's second offensive possession. He eventually made his way off the field with team trainers and went to the locker room. Considering rookie fifth-rounder Tyler Allgeier was a healthy scratch Week 1, Cordarrelle Patterson may be in store for a significant workload if Williams isn't able to return.
