  • Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott: Little room to run in Week 2

Elliott carried the ball 15 times for 53 yards in Sunday's 20-17 win over the Bengals.

He also caught one of two targets but lost four yards on the reception. Zeke led Dallas in rushing yards but was less effective than Tony Pollard, who gained 98 scrimmage yards and a TD on 13 touches. Elliott has yet to have a breakout performance in 2022, but he could get his chance in Week 3 against a Giants defense that just got gashed for 102 yards and a 6.8 YPC by Christian McCaffrey.

  • Joe Mixon RB | HOU

Bengals' Joe Mixon: Tough yards in Week 2 loss

Mixon carried the ball 19 times for 57 yards and caught three of four targets for 26 yards in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Cowboys.

The Bengals have had major issues along the offensive line to open the season, and while Joe Burrow being sacked 13 times in two games is the most glaring symptom, Mixon's 3.0 yards per carry is also a problem. The veteran back has at least stayed involved as a pass-catcher to bolster his raw numbers, but he could find more success on the ground in Week 3 against a Jets defense that just got gashed for three TDs by Nick Chubb.

  • Broncos' Javonte Williams: Leads Denver in rushing

Williams rushed 15 times for 75 yards and caught one of four targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 16-9 win over the Texans.

On a day when the Denver offense struggled to get much of anything going, Williams didn't do much in the box score to win the week for fantasy managers. However, he did operate as Denver's lead back once again, seeing five more attempts on the ground and three more targets through the air than fellow running back Melvin Gordon. Though Gordon is still involved, it's clear the Broncos are comfortable with giving Williams the opportunity to establish himself as the leader of the Denver backfield. As the offense continues to get things figured out, Williams is likely to continue to see a solid share of touches each week. The 22-year-old will look to make the most of his opportunities in Week 3 when the Broncos host the 49ers.

  • 49ers' Tyrion Davis-Price: Big volume in Week 2 win

Davis-Price carried the ball 14 times for 33 yards in Sunday's 27-7 win over the Seahawks.

The rookie was inactive last week, but Davis-Price worked as the 49ers' No. 2 back behind Jeff Wilson in this one after Elijah Mitchell (knee) landed on the IR. He saw most of his touches in the second half after San Francisco took a 20-0 lead into intermission and did little with his opportunities, but fellow rookie Jordan Mason didn't see any touches at all. The team's overall offensive scheme could see some big changes with Jimmy Garoppolo taking over for Trey Lance (ankle) under center, but Davis-Price's poor numbers in his NFL debut don't guarantee him any sort of significant role in Week 3 against the Broncos.

  • Jeff Wilson RB | MIA

49ers' Jeff Wilson: Leading rusher in Week 2 win

Wilson carried the ball 18 times for 84 yards and caught both his targets for 19 yards in Sunday's 27-7 win over the Seahawks.

He ceded some touches to rookie Tyrion Davis-Price in the second half of the comfortable win, but as expected, Wilson was the 49ers' backfield leader in the wake of Elijah Mitchell's knee injury. The team's overall offensive scheme could see some big changes with Jimmy Garoppolo taking over for Trey Lance (ankle) under center, but Wilson figures to retain a significant role in Week 3 against a Broncos defense that just gave up 69 rushing yards and a 4.6 YPC to Texans rookie Dameon Pierce.

  • Colts' Nyheim Hines: Tallies four catches

Hines recorded four receptions on five targets for 37 yards in Sunday's 24-0 loss to the Jaguars.

Hines started the game hot, as he tallied two receptions on three targets for 23 yards on the opening drive. However, his production -- as well as the Colts' entire offense -- sputtered from there and his lack of involvement as a rusher cost him the chance for a more productive performance. Hines played just 15 snaps on offense which is puzzling since the Colts were missing their top two receivers and the Colts fell behind early. For a second consecutive season the coaching staff's proclamation that Hines will get more involved in the offense hasn't produced results.

  • Eno Benjamin RB | NO

Cardinals' Eno Benjamin: Busy off the bench

Benjamin ran for 31 yards on eight carries against Las Vegas on Sunday, adding three catches for 20 yards on four targets.

Benjamin saw his playing time increase following the ankle injury to starter James Conner. It's not clear how much time Conner might miss, but if he is sidelined for some time, then some combination of Benjamin and Darrel Williams (eight carries for 59 yards and one touchdown Sunday) should pick up the slack at running back for Arizona.

  • Dameon Pierce RB | PHI

Texans' Dameon Pierce: Garners 77 total yards in loss

Pierce rushed 15 times for 69 yards and brought in his only target for eight yards in the Texans' 16-9 loss to the Broncos on Sunday.

The rookie back was explosive while seeing his volume bump up by four total touches over Week 1, and Pierce was much more efficient with them as well. Head coach Lovie Smith had noted earlier in the week how Pierce needed to be much more involved in the offense moving forward, and in Week 2, the extra workload did come to pass as the fourth-round pick was the only Texans running back to log any carries. Pierce will next take aim at the Bears' questionable rush defense in a Week 3 road matchup next Sunday.

  • Seahawks' Kenneth Walker: Quiet debut in Sunday's loss

Walker gained 10 yards on four carries and caught two of three targets for five yards in Sunday's 27-7 loss to the 49ers.

Making his debut for Seattle after missing Week 1 while completing his recovery from a hernia procedure in August, the second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft struggled along with the rest of the team's offense, and the Seahawks' only points on the day came on a blocked field goal that got returned to the end zone by Mike Jackson. More encouragingly, Walker tied Rashaad Penny in touches with six, and the rookie could find himself in a backfield timeshare now that he's healthy -- albeit a timeshare in an offense that has looked far from dangerous so far. Up next in Week 3 is a Falcons defense that has yet to allow a RB to reach 50 rushing yards against them.

  • Rashaad Penny RB | CAR

Seahawks' Rashaad Penny: Held in check in Week 2

Penny gained 15 yards on six carries in Sunday's 27-7 loss to the 49ers.

The entire Seattle running game got shut down, managing only 36 rushing yards total and 2.6 yards per carry, so Penny's poor performance wasn't out of place. Rookie Kenneth Walker also saw six touches (four carries and two catches) in his NFL debut, and the potential for a true timeshare between the two should be concerning for fantasy GMs with Penny stock, but it's hard to draw many conclusions from a game script that forced the Seahawks away from their preferred ground-heavy approach. Up next in Week 3 is a Falcons defense that has yet to allow a RB to reach 50 rushing yards against them.
