Kenneth Walker III RB | KC
Seahawks' Kenneth Walker: Expanded role likely
Walker carried eight times for 88 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 39-32 loss to the Saints.
Walker made his mark Sunday with a 69-yard scoring jaunt in the fourth quarter, and with fellow back Rashaad Penny having suffered what head coach Pete Carroll described as a "serious" ankle injury, accordingGregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune, the rookie second-round pick looks set to see an expanded role in Seattle's offense, beginning with the Seahawks' Week 6 game against the Cardinals. Look for more context regarding Penny's injury to surface no later than Monday, but Walker could be on track for a multi-game run as Seattle's clear-cut lead back. The Seahawks also have DeeJay Dallas on hand and Travis Homer (ribs) perhaps on track to return from injured reserve later this month, but both profile more as change-of-pace backs than true challengers to Walker for the top spot on the depth chart.

Chase Edmonds RB | WAS
Dolphins' Chase Edmonds: Phased out as drops continue
Edmonds rushed once for one yard and failed to catch either of his two targets in Sunday's 40-17 loss to the Jets.
Raheem Mostert mustered 122 scrimmage yards and a touchdown as Miami's clear lead back, while Alain Poupart of Sports Illustrated Fan Nation points out that Myles Gaskin supplanted Edmonds as Miami's change-of-pace back following a pair of dropped passes by Edmonds. Gaskin turned four carries and five targets into 33 scrimmage yards. It's too early to tell whether Edmonds' benching will carry over into Week 6 against the Vikings, but he'll be tough to trust regardless after generating fewer than 30 yards in each of his last three games.

Raheem Mostert RB | LV
Dolphins' Raheem Mostert: Tops 100 yards with a TD
Mostert rushed 18 times for 113 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 40-17 loss to the Jets. He also caught one of three targets for nine yards.
Miami went with a run-heavy approach after Teddy Bridgewater (head) got injured in the first quarter. Mostert was the beneficiary of that strategy, notching his first 100-yard rushing performance in a Dolphins uniform, as well as his first touchdown since Week 12 of the 2020 campaign. With drops plaguing receiving back Chase Edmonds, Mostert has pulled away as the leading option in Miami's backfield and should remain busy in Week 6 against the Vikings regardless of who starts under center for the Dolphins.

Jamaal Williams RB | NO
Lions' Jamaal Williams: Held in check
Williams rushed 15 times for 56 yards during Sunday's 29-0 loss to New England.
The return of Pro Bowl guard Jonah Jackson seemingly gave Williams one of the more formidable offensive lines across the league to work with, but he wasn't able to do much despite getting another hefty workload. However, he didn't get much help from the passing game on a day that Detroit was largely held out of scoring position. Now with D'Andre Swift (shoulder) targeting a return for after Detroit's Week 6 bye, Williams may have to share the backfield a little more than he has been lately in Week 7 against Dallas.

Rhamondre Stevenson RB | NE
Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Career-best effort in win
Stevenson rushed 25 times for 161 yards and secured both targets for 14 yards in the Patriots' 29-0 win over the Lions on Sunday. He also recovered a fumble.
Stevenson didn't get into the end zone, but that was about the only blemish on his otherwise stellar afternoon. The second-year back's career day was partly made possible by the early exit of backfield mate Damien Harris, who left the game with a hamstring injury in the first half. Stevenson proved more than capable of carrying the load, with a 49-yard run in the first quarter serving as his longest play of the day. Stevenson only got stronger as the game went on, accruing 92 of his yards after halftime. If Harris' soft-tissue injury sidelines him for a Week 6 road matchup against the Browns, Stevenson should be in line for another true lead-back workload.

Dameon Pierce RB | PHI
Texans' Dameon Pierce: Powers way to big day
Pierce rushed 26 times for 99 yards and a touchdown while catching three of five targets for 14 yards in Sunday's 13-6 win over Jacksonville.
Pierce dominated the backfield touches (26 of 29) and plodded his way to a third straight game with at least 80 rushing yards and a score. The red-hot rookie is averaging 94.8 rushing yards since taking over as the Texans' lead back in Week 2. With a combination of results and touches, Pierce should be considered a must-start asset when Houston returns from its bye and takes on Las Vegas in Week 7.

Nick Chubb RB | HOU
Browns' Nick Chubb: Another stellar performance in loss
Chubb rushed 17 times for 134 yards and two touchdowns and failed to secure his only target in the Browns' 30-28 loss to the Chargers on Sunday.
Chubb had an elite matchup on paper against a porous Chargers run defense, one that very much bore out on the field. The star back ripped off a 41-yard touchdown run to kickstart his afternoon and cap off the opening possession of the game, and he went on to add a two-yard score late in the third quarter. Along the way, Chubb averaged 7.9 yards per carry while authoring his fourth 100-yard tally in the last five games. He'll next take aim at the Patriots in Week 6 home clash.

Tyler Allgeier RB | ARI
Falcons' Tyler Allgeier: Stifled by Tampa Bay
Allgeier rushed 13 times for 45 yards during Sunday's 21-15 loss to Tampa Bay.
Allgeier led the backfield in rushing attempts during the first game without Cordarrelle Patterson, who's set to miss at least four contests while on IR with a knee injury. However, the rookie fifth-round pick struggled to find any running room against Tampa Bay's strong run defense. Caleb Huntley was a little more efficient on the ground, rushing eight times for 34 yards, but Avery Williams syphoned the only rushing touchdown. Allgeier figures to be the No. 1 option with Patterson sidelined, but Atlanta certainly won't shy away from getting other players involved, though the Falcons' running backs face another stiff test against the 49ers in Week 6.

Rashaad Penny RB | CAR
Seahawks' Rashaad Penny: Injury considered severe
Coach Pete Carroll said Penny sustained a "serious" injury to his lower left leg during Sunday's loss at New Orleans and may be out awhile, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
Penny left the contest during the Seahawks' first drive after halftime and needed a cart to get to the locker room. According to Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic, Penny was seen with a walking boot on his left foot and on crutches in the locker room afterward. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network provided more insight into the injury, calling it a broken tibia, and Penny will undergo more tests to determine the extent of the damage. Penny likely is in store for a lengthy absence, which would allow rookie second-round pick Kenneth Walker to take on a majority share of the touches among Seahawks running backs with Travis Homer (ribs) already on injured reserve. DeeJay Dallas is the other healthy running back on the team's active roster.

Ty Chandler RB | NO
Vikings' Ty Chandler: Expected to miss some time
Chandler will likely sit out for a few weeks after suffering a fractured thumb during Sunday's 29-22 win over the Bears, Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com reports.
Chandler suited up for just his second game of the season Sunday before being forced to exit with what was initially labeled as a hand injury. Now, the rookie running back figures to be sidelined for multiple weeks after it was revealed he suffered a broken thumb, though his exact recovery timeline is still unknown. Chandler was a healthy scratch through the first three games of the season and did not play an offensive snap during his NFL debut in Week 4.
