  • Joe Mixon RB | HOU

    Bengals' Joe Mixon: Making progress

Mixon will need to go through a full-contact practice before he can be cleared from the NFL's concussion protocol, though head coach Zac Taylor said Wednesday that "everything is positive right now" in terms of the running back's status ahead of Sunday's game against the Browns, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports.

Mixon was limited at practice last week before landing on the inactive list ahead of the Bengals' eventual 27-24 win over the Chiefs, but Cincinnati looks as though it's on track to get its top back in the lineup this weekend. In Mixon's absence for the previous two games, Samaje Perine has been handling the bulk of the team's backfield touches.

  • D'Onta Foreman RB | CLE

Panthers' D'Onta Foreman: Not spotted at Wednesday's practice

Foreman isn't present for the open portion of Wednesday's practice due to foot and rib injuries, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.

The foot injury is one that Foreman sustained during the Panthers' Week 12 win over the Broncos and is something he's apparently still nursing coming out of Carolina's bye week. Person adds that Foreman noted Monday that he's also dealing with a rib injury, but he expects neither that issue nor the foot concern to prevent him from taking the field Sunday in Seattle. Over his last six appearances, Foreman has logged four 100-yard rushing performances, though in both of the other two contests he failed to eclipse 25 yards on the ground.

  • Ty Chandler RB | NO

Vikings' Ty Chandler: Designated to return from IR

Chandler (thumb) was designated to return from injured reserve Wednesday.

Chandler has been out since Week 5 after he suffered a broken thumb in the Vikings' win over the Bears and the team will now have 21 days to either activate him or leave him on IR for the rest of the year. The running back has appeared in two games this season, playing 28 snaps on special teams.

  • Michael Carter RB | TEN

Jets' Michael Carter: Set to practice fully

Carter (ankle) is slated to practice fully Wednesday, Ethan B. Greenberg of the Jets' official site reports.

Carter is thus poised to return to action this Sunday against the Bills following a one-game absence. The second-year is expected to reclaim a solid share of the Jets' backfield touches, though head coach Robert Saleh said Wednesday that Zonovan Knight is in line to remain part of the rotation, according to Al Iannazzone of Newsday. Ty Johnson and James Robinson round out the Jets' backfield ranks, with one of the two likely to be a healthy inactive this weekend.

  • Master Teague: Cut from Steelers' practice squad

Teague was cut from the Steelers' practice squad Wednesday, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports.

Teague will look for his next opportunity after being let go by the Steelers for the second time this year and is still looking to make his NFL debut after wrapping up his collegiate career with Ohio State in 2021. The running back will likely catch on with another team's practice unit in the near future or even return to Pittsburgh at some point.

  • Buccaneers' Ke'Shawn Vaughn: Limited to special teams in win

Vaughn logged 12 special-teams snaps but none on offense during the Buccaneers' 17-16 win over the Saints on Monday night.

The reserve running back was relegated to a non-existent role on offense with Leonard Fournette returning from his hip injury. Vaughn had logged eight carries and drawn a pair of targets over the previous three games, but Fournette and Rachaad White were the only Buccaneers backs to record any touches Monday night.

  • Commanders' Jonathan Williams: Plays limited role

Williams had one carry for one yard in Sunday's 20-20 tie against the Giants.

Williams saw just two snaps on offense while contributing 17 on special teams. The veteran running back has had a limited role this year, compiling a total of 77 yards on 11 carries in nine games. Firmly behind Antonio Gibson and Brian Robinson, Williams will likely need an injury to occur to see his role increase.

  • Josh Jacobs RB | GB

    Raiders' Josh Jacobs: Limited again

Jacobs (quadriceps) was again listed as a limited participant on Tuesday's estimated practice-report, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.

The Raiders again held a walk-through in favor of an actual practice, so his limited participation is just an estimate. Given Jacobs' heavy workload over the past four games and the short week ahead of Thursday's game against the Rams, it is not surprising that Las Vegas is opting to err on the side of caution here. While there is no real worry at this point to think his Week 14 status is in any danger, it will be worth monitoring his status on the team's final injury report Wednesday.

  • Ameer Abdullah RB | JAC

Raiders' Ameer Abdullah: Logs limited estimate

The Raiders listed Abdullah (hamstring) as limited on Tuesday's practice estimate, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.

Abdullah's limted estimate was his second straight in as many days, as the Raiders prep for a matchup with the Rams on Thursday. The veteran running back recorded one carry for four yards and failed to haul in his only target during Sunday's 27-20 victory over the Chargers, but with Josh Jacobs playing through some nagging injuries, the rest of Las Vegas' backfield options -- including Abdullah -- could see additional work if at any point Jacobs needs some extra rest.

  • Jonathan Ward: Loses roster spot

Ward was cut from the Jets' practice squad Tuesday, Ethan Greenberg of the team's official site reports.

Ward joined the team last Tuesday after being waived by the Cardinals. His departure could be a sign that Michael Carter (ankle) will be ready to return Week 14 against the Bills.
