  • 49ers' Tyrion Davis-Price: Disappointing rookie season

Davis-Price rushed for 99 yards and no touchdowns on 34 attempts across six regular-season games in his rookie season.

Davis-Price failed to earn a significant role on offense at any point of the season, despite the 49ers needing running back depth. The 2022 third-round pick struggled in limited opportunities, averaging a mediocre 2.9 yards per carry while being limited to a healthy scratch most weeks. Davis-Price will have to prove himself in training camp in order to earn a roster spot next season, as he currently sits fourth on San Francisco's depth chart prior to the draft and free agency.

  • Jordan Mason RB | MIN

49ers' Jordan Mason: Solid rookie showing

Mason finished the 2022 season with 43 carries for 258 yards and a touchdown across 16 regular-season games with San Francisco.

Mason was a surprise addition to the active roster out of training camp, and he parlayed that opportunity into a special-teams role to begin the year. The undrafted rookie eventually was called upon to replace injured backups, and he averaged 6.0 yards per carry in his limited action on offense. Mason is signed through the 2024 season, so he figures to operate as the 49ers' third back to open camp behind Christian McCaffrey and Elijah Mitchell (groin).

  • 49ers' Elijah Mitchell: Injury-riddled 2022 campaign

Mitchell (groin) finished the regular season with 45 rushing attempts for 279 yards and two touchdowns across five healthy games.

Mitchell suffered injuries to both of his knees at different points of the season, resulting in a loss of 12 games in addition to his starting role. The 24-year-old remained productive backing up Christian McCaffrey with a healthy 6.2 yards-per-carry average when healthy. Mitchell did suffer a groin injury during the 49ers' playoff run, but it was considered minor at the time. The standout 2021 sixth-round pick remains under contract for the 2023 campaign, putting him in position to spell McCaffrey if health permits.

  • Joe Mixon RB | HOU

Bengals' Joe Mixon: Has charge dismissed

Mixon's charge of aggravated menacing was dismissed by the Hamilton County (Ohio) Municipal Court on Friday, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports

An arrest warrant was issued for Mixon on Thursday, after which the Bengals released a statement: "The club is aware misdemeanor charges have been raised against Joe Mixon. The club is investigating the situation and will not comment further at this time." While the initial charge now isn't actionable, the presiding judge of the court said it could be refiled after further investigation. As such, Mixon doesn't appear to be out of the woods yet on the legal front, meaning punishment from the NFL remains a possibility.

  • Joe Mixon RB | HOU

Bengals' Joe Mixon: Issued warrant for arrest

Mixon has been issued an arrest warrant on a count of aggravated menacing, per Hamilton County (Ohio) Court records, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

The Bengals released a statement Thursday in the wake of the news: "The club is aware misdemeanor charges have been raised against Joe Mixon. The club is investigating the situation and will not comment further at this time." With the entire offseason ahead of him, the NFL will allow the legal process to play itself out before determining if any sort of punishment will be levied upon Mixon under the personal conduct policy.

  • Jerrion Ealy WR | KC

Jerrion Ealy: Back with Kansas City

The Chiefs signed Ealy to their practice squad Monday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

Ealy, an undrafted rookie out of Mississippi, has bounced on and off the Chiefs' practice squad during the 2022 campaign, but the wideout, who played running back in college, still is looking to make his NFL debut. In a corresponding move, Kansas City cut Matthew Wright from its practice squad.

  • Samaje Perine RB | CIN

Bengals' Samaje Perine: Scores in possible Cincy finale

Perine rushed five times for 22 yards and a touchdown while catching three of four targets for four yards in Sunday's 23-20 AFC Championship Game loss to the Chiefs.

Joe Burrow led the Bengals with 30 rushing yards on four attempts, but Perine was more effective than Joe Mixon, who mustered only 19 yards on eight carries. Perine tied the score at 20-20 with a two-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter. That touchdown could prove to be his last with the Bengals, as Perine will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

  • Chiefs' Jerick McKinnon: Minor role in AFC title win

McKinnon rushed four times for one yard and brought in two of four targets for 17 yards during the Chiefs' 23-20 win over the Bengals in Sunday's AFC Championship Game. He also recovered a fumble.

The veteran running back didn't see much of an uptick in pass-catching opportunity even as the Chiefs lost receivers JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee), Kadarius Toney (ankle) and Mecole Hardman (pelvis) as the evening unfolded. McKinnon also filled his frequently modest role on the ground, although his recovery of a Travis Kelce fumble at the Bengals' 22-yard line late in the first quarter preserved a drive that subsequently culminated in a 24-yard Harrison Butker field goal. If backfield mate Clyde Edwards-Helaire (ankle, IR) is activated for the Super Bowl LVII matchup versus the Eagles in two weeks' time, McKinnon could see his touches reduce further in that contest.

  • Isiah Pacheco RB | DET

Chiefs' Isiah Pacheco: Contributes as pass catcher in win

Pacheco rushed 10 times for 26 yards and secured five of six targets for 59 yards during the Chiefs' 23-20 win over the Bengals in Sunday's AFC Championship Game. He also returned two kickoffs for 45 yards.

Pacheco, who did an excellent job breaking tackles and getting to the second level throughout his rookie season, somewhat surprisingly found running room at a premium throughout Sunday's game, although he did have a 10-yard first-quarter touchdown run nullified due to offensive holding. However, with the Chiefs' wideout depth chart suffering some serious in-game attrition thanks to injuries to JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee), Mecole Hardman (pelvis) and Kadarius Toney (ankle), Pacheco recorded his highest reception, receiving yardage and target totals as a pro yet. The Rutgers product showed off some of the same penchant for getting past first contact as a pass catcher, and depending on the health of the aforementioned wideouts and backfield mate Clyde Edwards-Helaire (ankle, IR), Pacheco could be in for another busy day in the Super Bowl LVII matchup against the Eagles on Sunday, Feb. 12.

  • Joe Mixon RB | HOU

Bengals' Joe Mixon: Struggles in season-ending loss

Mixon rushed eight times for 19 yards and caught all three of his targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 23-20 AFC Championship Game loss to the Chiefs.

With Cincinnati's offensive line needing all the blocking help it could get against Kansas City's pass rush, Mixon ceded significant playing time to superior blocker Samaje Perine, who had 26 yards from scrimmage on eight touches, including a two-yard rushing score in the fourth quarter. It was a disappointing ending to an up-and-down season for Mixon, who had five total touchdowns in Week 9 against the Panthers but only five TDs in 16 other appearances between the regular season and playoffs. Mixon has two years remaining on his deal with the Bengals, while Perine is set to be an unrestricted free agent.
