  • Hassan Haskins RB | LAC

Titans' Hassan Haskins: Gets arrested, charged Thursday

Haskins was arrested Thursday following a pair of domestic incidents in Nashville, Tenn., Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports.

Officially, Haskins was charged with aggravated assault for the alleged altercations with his girlfriend. Per Wayne Steen of Scoop: Nashville, the Titans have acknowledged the situation and are obtaining more information on the matter. The NFL is unlikely to levy any sort of punishment until the legal process plays itself out.

  • De'Von Achane RB | MIA

Dolphins' Devon Achane: Early offseason standout

Achane has impressed early throughout Miami's offseason activities, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN reports.

Achane has stood out as one of the most explosive players in early offseason drills for the Dolphins, particularly in terms of pass-catching and his big-play ability. Of course, non-padded drills are exactly where the undersized speedster ought to dominate, but taking Achane's success with a grain of salt doesn't mean it should be ignored entirely. The rookie third-round pick is competing for touches in a crowded backfield, with veterans Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson presumably holding the fort atop the depth chart, so it's encouraging to see him already gaining momentum. If Achane manages to earn a significant role on offense, his 4.32-second 40-yard dash speed combined with head coach Mike McDaniel's scheme could be a recipe high-upside fantasy production.

  • Zonovan Knight RB | ARI

Jets' Zonovan Knight: Battling injury in OTAs

Knight (undisclosed) has been banged up at OTAs and has mostly been working off to the side, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.

The exact nature of Knight's injury hasn't been revealed, but he can ill afford to miss extensive time once training camp kicks off, as Knight will be battling for one of the final roster spots on the team. Heading into his second NFL season, Knight currently looks like the fourth running back on the Jets' depth chart behind Breece Hall (knee), Michael Carter and rookie fifth-round pick Israel Abanikanda.

  • Trestan Ebner RB | CHI

Bears' Trestan Ebner: May be on roster bubble

Ebner is expected to compete with Travis Homer for the final running back spot on the Bears' roster, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports.

Ebner was drafted in the sixth round in 2022, but he rushed for just 2.3 yards per carry on 24 attempts. When David Montgomery missed time in Weeks 3 and 4, Ebner did little with his opportunity by rushing 13 times for 43 yards and catching two passes for eight yards. In the offseason, the Bears signed Homer to a two-year deal. Homer was a receiving back and special teams contributor in his four years with the Seahawks. With the fourth running back role in a backfield that also includes D'Onta Foreman, Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson likely requiring the player to contribute on special teams, Ebner may have a difficult time holding off Homer for a roster spot.

  • Travis Homer RB | PIT

Bears' Travis Homer: Could be on roster bubble

Homer is expected to compete with Trestan Ebner for the final running back spot on the Bears' roster, Kevin Fishbain of the Athletic reports.

Homer was signed in the offseason to a two-year $4 million deal with $1.75 million guaranteed while Ebner was a 2022 sixth-round draft pick. As a rookie, Ebner averaged 2.3 yards per carry on 24 attempts and did little to earn added playing time. Homer was used as a receiving back and on special teams during his time in Seattle, but he failed to top 37 touches in any of his four seasons. With this camp battle being for the fourth running back spot behind D'Onta Foreman, Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson, special teams work could be the deciding factor, and Homer has an edge in experience in that capacity.

  • Saquon Barkley RB | PHI

Giants' Saquon Barkley: Resumes contract negotiations

Barkley and the Giants have restarted discussions about a contract extension, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Barkley has been seeking a long-term deal with New York since he was given the franchise tag in early March, but talks between the two sides appeared to have stalled based on the running back's description of the negotiations as "untruthful" and "misleading" at his youth camp earlier this month. However, discussions on an extension seem to have since moved forward with less than a month to go until the July 17 deadline to reach an agreement. Barkley is widely expected to play this season even if he has to do so under the franchise tag, though he has hinted at the option of holding out if he and the Giants aren't able to get a deal done.

  • Jerome Ford RB | WAS

Browns' Jerome Ford: Will remain top returner

Ford will remain the Browns' top kick returner in 2023, Anthony Poisal of the Browns' official site reports.

Ford, who was Cleveland's primary returner on kickoffs last year, will retain those duties even though his role on offense will expand as the No. 2 running back behind Nick Chubb. Cleveland running backs coach Stump Mitchell is confident Ford can step in as the top backup, a role handled by Kareem Hunt the last four seasons, noting Ford's strong work this spring on pass protection.

  • Kene Nwangwu RB | NYJ

Vikings' Kene Nwangwu: Battling for backup RB role

Nwangwu was frequently was used alongside quarterback Kirk Cousins in 11-on-11 snaps during Wednesday's minicamp workout, The Athletic reports.

Nwangwu is a dynamic kickoff returne but will compete for a larger role as a running back after the release of Dalvin Cook. Nwangwu enters camp battling Ty Chandler and DeWayne McBride for snaps behind starter Alexander Mattison. It's possible the backfield could be more of a committee, one in which Nwangwu's speed could afford him a significant role.

  • Avery Williams RB | NYJ

Falcons' Avery Williams: Lands on injured reserve

The Falcons placed Williams (knee) on injured reserve Friday, Scott Bair of the team's official site reports.

This move was expected after head coach Arthur Smith said Williams had torn his ACL during an offseason workout. The return man recently underwent season-ending surgery and will attempt to get heathy for the 2024 campaign. In his absence, Cordarrelle Patterson will presumably take over as the primary kick returner, while Mike Hughes and Josh Ali will compete for punt-return opportunities.

  • Cam Akers RB | SEA

Rams' Cam Akers: Having strong offseason

Akers, per coach Sean McVay, is "going to be a central figure in this offense," Cameron DaSilva of TheRamsWire reports.

The end of the 2022 season saw the one-time second-round pick finally flash some of his tantalizing potential with back-to-back-to-back 100-yard rushing games, three touchdowns and an impressive 5.5 YPC over the Rams' final three contests. Akers has been putting in the work in the offseason with new running backs coach Ron Gould to protect what turned into a three-down role as the lead back, and while coach Sean McVay also complimented Kyren Williams on his progress this offseason, McVay noted that Akers is "going to be a huge part of what we're doing moving forward." Between McVay's comments and Akers' performance down the stretch last year, it seems much more likely the Rams will utilize the fourth-year veteran as the primary ball carrier rather than lumping him into the mostly ineffective committee approach the team used for the first half of last season.
