  • Emanuel Wilson RB | SEA

Packers' Emanuel Wilson: Remains in bit role

Wilson had two carries for six yards and one reception for six yards in Sunday's 18-17 victory over the Saints.

Wilson saw work for the second time in as many weeks with top running back Aaron Jones (hamstring) unavailable, but he was still a distant third option in the backfield, as both AJ Dillon and Patrick Taylor easily outpaced the rookie in both touches and snaps played. The Packers liked Wilson enough to add him to the 53-man roster ahead of Taylor at the end of training camp, but the latter now needs to be added in order to play again, and Wilson could be removed in order to make space.

  • Packers' Patrick Taylor: Plays key role in Week 3

Taylor had three carries for six yards and three receptions for 23 yards in Sunday's 18-17 victory over the Saints.

Taylor did not produce big numbers, but his 29 offensive snaps were roughly five times as many as Emanuel Wilson's six and just a handful fewer than the 37 that AJ Dillon saw as Green Bay's starting running back. The front office could have some tough decisions to make soon, as having already been elevated from the practice squad three times, Taylor can no longer suit up without being added to the 53-man roster -- and he could be needed again in Week 4 if top running back Aaron Jones (hamstring) isn't able to take the field Thursday against the Lions.

  • Mike Boone RB | MIA

Texans' Mike Boone: Minimal impact in win

Boone did not log a carry in four offensive snaps and returned one kickoff for 14 yards in Sunday's 37-17 win over the Jaguars in Week 3.

Boone returned to the active roster in Week 3 while Dare Ogunbowale was a healthy scratch. The two have alternated as the third back through the first three weeks. Boone was used as a receiving back in Week 1, when he had 22 snaps on offense.

  • Dolphins' Chris Brooks: Efficient in reserve role

Brooks carried nine times for 66 yards during Sunday's 70-20 blowout win over the Broncos.

Brooks got a chance to operate as the No. 3 back behind Raheem Mostert (142 scrimmage yards, four total TDs) and De'Von Achane (233 scrimmage yards, four total TDs) with Salvon Ahmed (groin) sidelined. Though he couldn't match the otherworldly production of Achane and Mostert, Brooks recorded an efficient 7.3 YPC against an outmatched and gassed Broncos defense, an impressive showing in his debut handling offensive work at the NFL level. Even if Ahmed misses more time, though, Brooks will likely revert back to a true reserve role Week 4 versus the Bills.

  • Browns' Pierre Strong: No. 3 back in win

Strong carried six times for 27 yards and returned one kickoff for 26 yards in Sunday's 27-3 win over Tennessee.

In Cleveland's first game without Nick Chubb (knee), Strong (eight snaps) operated as the No. 3 back behind Jerome Ford (40) and the newly re-signed Kareem Hunt (14). Strong had one carry on the first series, then five more on the Browns' final drive of the game. The kickoff return was his first of the season, and it appears he will take those duties from Ford, who is now atop the running back depth chart. Head coach Kevin Stefanski does not want to risk injury to another lead RB by having them returning kickoffs.

  • Jaylen Warren RB | PIT

Steelers' Jaylen Warren: Receives 11 touches Sunday

Warren rushed eight times for 29 yards and caught three of four targets for 23 receiving yards in Sunday's 23-18 win over the Raiders.

Warren saw his workload increase against Las Vegas as Mike Tomlin alluded to earlier in the week, but the added touches did not come at the expense of starter Najee Harris (19-65-0). Pittsburgh's coaching staff wound up increasing both backs' overall usage with a balanced offensive strategy that resulted in a win. Neither player stood out in the box score Sunday, so the backfield picture figures to remain the same for the 2-1 Steelers. Warren should still sniff double-digit touches in an expanded backup role against the Texans next Sunday.

  • Najee Harris RB | LAC

Steelers' Najee Harris: Modest output in win

Harris took 19 carries for 65 yards while failing to bring in his lone target in Sunday's 23-18 win over the Raiders.

Harris' 19 rushing attempts Sunday surpassed the total from his first two games combined. This was due in large part to the Steelers' more balanced offensive gameplan that featured 28 passes and 31 rushing attempts. Backup Jaylen Warren remained involved with 43 combined yards on 11 touches, but Harris ate up most of the early down work amid rumors of possibly losing touches following a slow start. Pittsburgh's starter struggled to find running room with the increased workload, but no player on either team averaged more than 3.7 yards per carry in what turned out to be a physical battle. Harris and his fantasy managers will be looking for carries closer to the end zone as he seeks his first touchdown of the season against the Texans next Sunday.

  • Josh Jacobs RB | GB

Raiders' Josh Jacobs: Sluggish start continues

Jacobs rushed 17 times for 62 yards and caught three of five targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 23-18 loss to Pittsburgh.

Jacobs' early struggles continue with his third inefficient, scoreless outing in three weeks to begin the 2023 campaign. The 25-year-old still maintained his every-down role, commanding 100 percent of Las Vegas' running back carries Sunday. Jacobs got off to a similarly sluggish start in 2022, averaging just 83.7 total yards with no scores in three games before going off for 175 yards and two touchdowns in Week 4. That's not to say he will suddenly turn things around against the Chargers next Sunday, rather a reminder for fantasy managers to remain patient early in the season. That said, if there was ever an ideal opponent to get right against, it would likely be this iteration of the Chargers' defense that has allowed 450.7 yards per game this year.

  • James Conner RB | ARI

Cardinals' James Conner: Finds end zone in Week 3 win

Conner carried the ball 14 times for 98 yards and a touchdown and caught both his targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 28-16 win over the Cowboys.

The former Steeler led a Cardinals rushing attack that piled up 222 yards and two scores, including Conner's own five-yard TD dash in the first quarter that kick-started the upset victory. The veteran back has produced 204 rushing yards and two touchdowns over the last two games, but that TD streak could come to an abrupt end in Week 4 against a tough 49ers defense.

  • Kenyan Drake RB | GB

Ravens' Kenyan Drake: Sees one carry

Drake rushed the ball once for zero yards in Sunday's 22-19 overtime loss to the Colts. He added two receptions for 31 yards.

Drake was elevated from the practice squad after signing with the team Wednesday. That likely explains his lack of involvement in the offense, even after Gus Edwards (concussion) was forced from the game in the fourth quarter. It's possible that Drake is back in the mix in Week 4 against the Browns, pending the availability of Edwards and Justice Hill (toe).
