Javonte Williams RB | DAL
Broncos' Javonte Williams: Commands 30 touches in win
Williams rushed 27 times for 85 yards and caught all three of his targets for 13 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-9 upset win over the Chiefs.
Williams finally delivered his first touchdown of the fantasy season after being held out of the end zone in his previous six appearances. The 23-year-old struggled to break through Kansas City's beefy front, resulting in a 3.1 yard average on his 27 rushing attempts Sunday. Despite the subpar efficiency, Williams finished near the century mark in yardage for the second consecutive week after injuries limited his production earlier this season. Williams' improved health and ballooning touch count point toward a strong second half when the Broncos return from the upcoming bye week to face the Bills on Nov. 13.

Kenneth Walker III RB | KC
Seahawks' Kenneth Walker: Only eight carries
Walker rushed the ball eight times for 66 yards in Sunday's 24-20 win over the Browns. He added one catch for four yards.
Walker battled a calf injury coming out of a Week 7 matchup against the Cardinals and was unable to practice Wednesday or Thursday. While he entered Sunday's game without an injury designation, it's possible the issue nagged him as he was held to a season-low in carries. Though it was a disappointing result, Walker was in a particularly tough matchup and still has at least 60 rushing yards in six of his seven games this season.

Justice Hill RB | BAL
Ravens' Justice Hill: Ties for team receiving lead
Hill rushed four times for 15 yards and caught all four of his targets for 40 yards in Sunday's 31-21 win over Arizona.
Hill watched Gus Edwards rumble for three touchdowns but contributed out of the backfield in passing situations, tying Mark Andrews for the team lead in receiving yards as Lamar Jackson threw for only 157 yards. Hill has topped 30 scrimmage yards in each of his last six games played, and he set a new season high in that category here, topping his Week 2 total by two yards.

Joe Mixon RB | HOU
Bengals' Joe Mixon: Solves 49ers defense in win
Mixon rushed 16 times for 87 yards and a touchdown and secured all three targets for 23 yards in the Bengals' 31-17 win over the 49ers on Sunday.
Mixon enjoyed rare rushing success against the 49ers' normally stout front seven, with the veteran looking explosive on multiple runs throughout the afternoon. Mixon came into the contest averaging just 3.8 yards per carry for the season, but his yardage total Sunday was his highest yet in 2023. The seven-year pro also recorded his second touchdown of the season on a five-yard rush with 2:54 remaining that sealed the victory for Cincinnati, and he'll head into a Week 9 home matchup against the Bills next Sunday night with multiple receptions in three straight contests as well.

Darrell Henderson Jr. RB | LAR
Rams' Darrell Henderson: Gets it done as pass catcher
Henderson rushed the ball 12 times for 31 yards in Sunday's 43-20 loss to Dallas. He added three catches for 54 yards.
Henderson was out-produced on the ground by Royce Freeman, though he still had 15 touches compared to Freeman's nine. In particular, his work in the passing game stood out as he led the team in receiving yards. While that's unlikely to repeat itself, Henderson has shown multiple paths to fantasy value in two games since taking over as the lead back in the absence of Kyren Williams (ankle) and Ronnie Rivers (knee).

Gus Edwards RB | LAC
Ravens' Gus Edwards: Three TDs in Week 8 win
Edwards rushed 19 times for 80 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday's 31-24 win over the Cardinals. He also caught both of his targets for 14 yards.
Edwards had just one touchdown through six games, but he found the end zone last week while posting a season-high 144 scrimmage yards before this three-touchdown performance. He powered in a one-yard touchdown in the final minute of the first half, then scored from seven yards out in the third quarter and added another one-yard touchdown in the fourth. Edwards also set season highs in carries and rushing yards while tying his season high in catches for good measure. He's the clear lead back in Baltimore heading into a Week 9 home game against the Seahawks.
-
Derrick Henry RB | BAL
Titans' Derrick Henry: Totals 122 yards
Henry rushed the ball 22 times for 101 yards in Sunday's 28-23 win over the Falcons. He added four catches for 21 yards.
The Titans built a two-score lead before halftime with a surprisingly efficient passing attack, leaving Henry with only 39 yards on the ground. As the team tried to control time of possession in the second half, his volume increased, which allowed him to top 100 yards on the ground for the second time this season despite his longest gain going for only 14 yards. Henry's production on the ground has taken a significant downturn through seven games, though he's still averaging over four yards per carry and has added 15 receptions to supplement his fantasy value.
-
Christian McCaffrey RB | SF
49ers' Christian McCaffrey: Two touchdowns in loss
McCaffrey rushed 12 times for 54 yards and a touchdown and brought in six of seven targets for 64 yards and another score in the 49ers' 31-17 loss to the Bengals on Sunday.
McCaffrey still bulled his way to a solid fantasy afternoon thanks to his nose for the end zone, but he saw a modest amount of rushing opportunities for the third straight game. The explosive back crossed the goal line on a two-yard rush and four-yard reception in the second and fourth quarters, respectively, yet his rushing yardage total was his fourth consecutive sub-60-yard tally. Nevertheless, McCaffrey has scored at least once in all eight contests thus far and will next face a tough Jaguars run defense in a Week 10 road matchup following a Week 9 bye.

AJ Dillon RB | CAR
Packers' AJ Dillon: Busy as pass catcher Sunday
Dillon carried the ball six times for 11 yards and caught all five of his targets for 41 yards in Sunday's 24-10 loss to the Vikings.
Neither Dillon nor Aaron Jones found much success on the ground, as quarterback Jordan Love led the Packers in rushing yards on the afternoon, but the two RBs did combine for a 9-59-0 receiving line on 10 targets. Dillon's never been a consistent asset through the air, but with Green Bay scrambling to find something that works, short, high-percentage passes to the running backs might become a bigger element of the game plan as the coaching staff tries to build Love's confidence back up.
-
Aaron Jones RB | MIN
Packers' Aaron Jones: Stifled in Week 8 loss
Jones carried the ball seven times for 29 yards and caught four of five targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 24-10 loss to the Vikings.
Green Bay fell behind early and never mounted a serious challenge, forcing the game plan to move away from the run, but Jones still saw a paltry 11 touches on the afternoon -- matching AJ Dillon's total, and with similar results. Jones hasn't topped even 60 scrimmage yards in a game since Week 1 as he's had trouble staying healthy and has been ineffective when he has been in the lineup. He'll try to build some momentum in Week 9 against the Rams.
