O'Connell completed 15 of 18 pass attempts for 141 yards, one touchdown and no turnovers in Sunday's 34-7 preseason win over San Francisco.

O'Connell got the starting nod with the veterans atop Las Vegas' QB depth chart -- Jimmy Garoppolo and Brian Hoyer -- sitting out this exhibition game. The fourth-round selection did not look like a rookie in a tough matchup, albeit against the 49ers' B-squad of defenders. The 25-year-old played four years at Purdue, so he has more seasoning than most rookie quarterbacks. O'Connell should get plenty of run in the Raiders' next preseason tilt against the Rams on Saturday.

Darnold completed five of his eight pass attempts for 84 yards with no touchdowns or turnovers while playing the third quarter of Sunday's 34-7 preseason loss to Las Vegas.

Darnold started the second half behind Trey Lance as promised by head coach Kyle Shanahan, but he gave the former just one quarter of playing time compared to Lance's full half. Darnold, the veteran of this young QB room, performed well in his brief appearance, firing several crisp passes on a nine-play drive to open the second half that ended with Darnold being stuffed on a sneak attempt on fourth down. With both quarterbacks performing well Sunday, the competition for whom will back up Brock Purdy (elbow) continues with a matchup against the Rams on Saturday.

Lance completed 10 of 15 pass attempts for 112 yards and a touchdown while rushing once for two yards in Sunday's 34-7 preseason loss to the Raiders.

Lance's stat line looks great in the box score, but he benefited from a couple of fortunate bounces while starting in place of Brock Purdy (elbow) on Sunday. The notable play happened in the red zone on the 49ers' fourth drive when Lance threw an ill-advised pass across his body that should have been intercepted in the end zone, but the defender bobbled it into the hands of a diving Ross Dwelley for a score. The second happened when the 2021 first-round pick simply threw the ball to a Raiders defender, who might have been so startled that he dropped it. Lance did have a couple nice moments to hang his hat on, but most of his playing time in the first half was spent under duress due to poor offensive line play. The 49ers will attempt to get its entire offense going in an upcoming exhibition against Denver on Saturday.

Rypien completed three of six passes for 11 yards and rushed once for six yards during Saturday's 34-17 preseason loss to the Chargers.

It was a forgettable day for Rypien, as he ate a sack to end the first Rams' drive of the day, then overthrew Puka Nacua and had two more incompletions to finish the game with three punts on three possessions. Stetson Bennett shook off some jitters in relief to put up a solid day at the helm, completing 17 of 29 passes for 191 yards and a touchdown, and while the Rams would prefer the veteran Rypien as the backup for Matthew Stafford after the rotating door of ineffective backup quarterbacks last season, the job is likely closer to a toss-up after one preseason game.

Corral completed 15 of 22 passes for 126 yards and an interception in Saturday's 27-0 preseason loss to the Jets. He also was sacked four times and lost a fumble.

Corral saw rookie No. 1 pick Bryce Young play Carolina's first three drives before he took over for the remainder of the game. After missing his entire rookie season with a foot injury, Corral committed a pair of turnovers while failing to lead the Panthers to any points. With veteran Andy Dalton slated to back up Young, Corral is striving to convince the team to keep a third quarterback ahead of the regular season.

Carr completed six of eight passes for 70 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 26-24 preseason win over the Chiefs.

Carr impressed in his first action as a Saint, leading the team on a 12-play, 80-yard touchdown drive to begin the game. The signal-caller connected with Juwan Johnson, Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas prior to finding Keith Kirkwood on a four-yard score to cap that series. With that serving as Carr's only involvement of the day, Jameis Winston and Jake Haener split quarterback duties afterward.

Mahomes played only the opening drive of Sunday's 26-24 preseason loss to the Saints, completing both of his pass attempts for 15 total yards. He also rushed once for five yards.

Mahomes was expected to play the first quarter, which spanned two offensive series, but he came out slightly earlier than anticipated, allowing Blaine Gabbert to take the field. With a pair of preseason games left, it remains to be seen how much the reigning Super Bowl MVP will feature prior to Week 1.

Garoppolo won't play in Sunday's preseason opener versus San Francisco, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.

Garoppolo was suited up for warmups, but he'll ultimately watch the exhibition from the sidelines, along with WRs Davante Adams and Hunter Renfrow and TE Michael Mayer. The veteran quarterback's next chance to make his Raiders debut will come Saturday versus the Rams.

Wolford completed 10 of 17 passes for 111 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions and rushed once for two yards in the Buccaneers' 27-17 preseason loss to the Steelers on Friday night.

Wolford was the third quarterback into the contest after Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask played out the first installment of their intriguing preseason job battle, and it was the third-string signal-caller that actually posted the best numbers among the trio. While plenty of attention is rightfully heaped on the Mayfield-Trask competition, it's worth noting Wolford isn't exactly the average No. 3 quarterback -- he had a spring-league starting stint during his days in the AAF and also has postseason NFL experience in addition to seven regular-season appearances with the Rams from 2020 through 2022. Consequently, it wouldn't be entirely out of the question if Wolford finds his way onto the field at some point during the 2023 campaign, given Mayfield and Trask are far from locks to play effectively over an entire season.

Grier completed 22 of 31 passes for 199 yards and two touchdowns with one interception in Saturday's 28-23 preseason loss to the Jaguars. He added 14 rushing yards on his lone carry.

The 28-year-old replaced Cooper Rush on the Cowboys' first possession of the second quarter and played the rest of the game, guiding the team to all its points in a 28-23 loss. Grier hit Jalen Tolbert for a 17-yard score just before halftime, then led a successful no-huddle drive late in the fourth that resulted in a 15-yard TD for John Stephens. Rush still holds down the No. 2 spot on the QB depth chart behind Dak Prescott, but Grier's impressive effort Saturday opens the door for a real battle between the two for the backup job.
