McGloin is listed as the Raiders' No. 2 quarterback heading into their first preseason game against the Cardinals, Eddie Paskal of Raiders.com reports.

McGloin is currently edging out rookie quarterback Connor Cook for the primary back-up spot behind starter Derek Carr. McGloin has served in this role for the past couple of seasons, but Cook could prove himself worthy throughout the rest of training camp.

Goff was one player who clearly stood out in Saturday's team scrimmage, ESPN.com reports.

Goff continues to work with the Rams' second-team offense, but certainly displayed his upside Saturday with consistently on-target throws and a successful two-minute drill. While veteran Case Keenum has already been named Los Angeles' starter for Saturday's preseason opener, if Goff can continue to impress going forward, the team's first-string gig should be his before long.

Sunday night's Hall of Fame game, which was slated to feature Rodgers and the Packers against the Colts, has been canceled due to "concern about the condition of the field" at Canton's Tom Benson Stadium, ESPN.com reports.

With potentially unsafe playing conditions at hand, reportedly the result of issues with the paint used to mark the field, the league wisely elected to cancel the contest, thus eliminating the risk of players unnecessarily being exposed to injury in an exhibition game.

Taylor finished 8 of 11 for 89 yards and one touchdown during the Bills' team scrimmage Saturday night, The Buffalo News reports.

Unlike last offseason, Taylor is the unquestioned Day 1 starter. He also seems to have good command of the team in the leadership category and has started to develop a good rapport with guys like Robert Woods and Sammy Watkins. Taylor has also gotten a reputation as an extremely hard worker with excellent study habits. After a very surprising 2015 where Taylor threw for 20 touchdowns and just six interceptions, while logging 568 yards on the ground, things continue to trend up for the former Raven. The Bills might be wise to lock him up to a long-term contract soon. His fantasy value continues to climb as well, though he'll always be limited by the Bills' run-heavy approach, while he remains an injury risk given his propensity to take off on the run.

Rodgers isn't expected to play in Sunday's Hall of Fame Game against the Colts, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

The Packers will be donning the pads in one additional preseason contest due to their presence in the yearly exhibition. As a result, head coach Mike McCarthy wants to avoid any risk with his franchise quarterback. With Brett Hundley (ankle) slated to sit out as well, McCarthy will entrust Joe Callahan with the start Sunday, while Marquise Williams receives the remaining snaps under center.

With starting QB Tom Brady set to sit out the first four games of the regular season, Brissett is on track to serve as Jimmy Garoppolo's backup out of the gate, the Boston Globe reports.

Once Brady returns in Week 5, Brissett is in line to return to third-string duties, but the rookie's training camp reps have taken on added importance, given the his elevated status he'll gain come Week 1. It's still possible that the Patriots could add a veteran signal-caller before then, but the fact that they haven't done so hints at the team's confidence in Brissett, who the team took in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft, 91st overall.

Rodgers was held out of Thursday's practice in order to rest, which is also an indication that he will be held out of Sunday's preseason opener, according to Jason Wilde of ESPN.com

Rodgers is not dealing with any sort of injury, but the Packers will play five preseason games compared to the four that 30 others team will play, and it appears the team will avoid taking any chances with Rodgers' health early on. A final call on Rodgers' status for Sunday's game will likely be made and announced Friday.

With Kellen Moore (ankle) out of action potentially until December, Prescott is currently listed as Tony Romo's backup on the QB depth chart.

There's almost zero chance the Cowboys will head into the season with a raw rookie backing up the fragile Romo, so expect them to explore the trade market for a signal-caller with more experience. Until that happens though, Prescott will get valuable extra reps in camp which can only help in his development. He's still a long shot to see meaningful snaps as a rookie, however.

Goff has worked with the second-team offense in the early days of training camp, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Head coach Jeff Fisher has so far entrusted first-string reps in the hands of Case Keenum, but as Goff builds up his knowledge of the offense, the first selection in the 2016 NFL Draft is sure to surpass the veteran in the quarterback pecking order. Whether it occurs in the preseason or regular season remains to be seen, but Goff represents the future of the Rams' second stint in Los Angeles.

The notion of allowing 2016 No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff to earn the top quarterback job in Los Angeles isn't ill-advised, but it's likely only a matter of time, whether during the preseason or regular season, before Keenum is supplanted from his current perch. For the time being, though, Keenum will serve as the top signal-caller in advance of the Rams' first season in southern California since 1994.
