  • Matt McGloin QB | KC

    Chiefs' Matt McGloin: Joins Chiefs

McGloin signed a contract with the Chiefs on Friday.

McGloin was briefly on the Texans 53-man roster in November after spending training camp with the Eagles. The 28-year-old projects to slot in as the No. 3 quarterback behind Patrick Mahomes and Chad Henne in 2018.

  • Geno Smith QB | NYJ

Geno Smith: Taking meeting with Seahawks

Smith has a visit scheduled with the Seahawks on Friday, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.

Smith started 29 combined games in his first two seasons with the Jets, but he yielded the floor to Ryan Fitzpatrick in 2015 and 2016, appearing in just three more games with the club. Signing on with the Giants last March, Smith proceeded to win the backup job to Eli Manning and even took over under center when former coach Ben McAdoo decided to end Manning's streak of 210 consecutive regular-season starts in Week 13. Prior to his meeting in Seattle, Smith connected with the Chargers on Thursday, so the veteran QB appears to be closing in on his next gig. Both locales have openings, but at least Philip Rivers has another quarterback (Cardale Jones) on the depth chart. The same cannot be said for Russell Wilson after the Seahawks waived Trevone Boykin earlier this week due to an impending legal issue.

  • Mitch Trubisky QB | TEN

Bears' Mitchell Trubisky: Set to run attacking offense

Bears head coach Matt Nagy expects to run an aggressive offense in 2018 that promises lots of downfield attacking, an aspect that should enhance Trubisky's production, Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

After functioning as a game manager and surpassing 193 passing yards just three times over 12 starts as a rookie, Trubisky looks poised to become a focal point of the offense under Nagy. Not only did the Bears bring in plenty of receiving weapons (Allen Robinson, Trey Burton and Taylor Gabriel) this offseason, but the new coach wants his offense to consistently challenge defenses vertically while employing a fast pace. Assuming that plan holds once the season arrives, it would make the second-year quarterback a popular sleeper, but it may not be wise to reach for him in fantasy drafts until he delivers results on the field.

  • Deshaun Watson QB | CLE

Texans' Deshaun Watson: Continues to progress well

Watson continues to progress well in his recovery from a torn right ACL, ESPN's Mike Reiss reports. "Deshaun's ahead of schedule, but there's still a lot of work," coach Bill O'Brien said Tuesday. "He has a great idea how he feels and how his knee is. He knows the stages he needs to get back on the field."

Per the report, Watson, who injured his knee back on Nov. 2, is expected to be ready for the start of training camp. What the QB will be able to do during the Texans' offseason program remains to be seen, however, with incremental steps in order. With that in mind, it appears as though Watson will probably do some throwing as OTAs progress, possibly in 7-on-7 situations, but probably not in team drills. Once training camp rolls around, we'll have a better handle on Watson's recovery, but once fully healthy, the 2017 first-rounder will look to build on his promising rookie effort, highlighted by the 19:8 TD:INT ratio that he compiled over the course of the seven games he played in prior to suffering the second torn ACL of his football career. Previously, Watson tore his left ACL during his freshman year at Clemson in 2014.

  • Ryan Tannehill QB | TEN

Dolphins' Ryan Tannehill: Should be available for OTAs

Dolphins coach Adam Gase said Tannehill (knee) will be ready for Organized Team Activities in May, Adam H. Beasley of the Miami Herald reports.

Bouncing back from mid-August surgery to repair a partial ACL tear, Tannehill restructured his contract a couple weeks ago to help free up cap room for the signings of Albert Wilson and Danny Amendola. The restructure converted his 2018 base salary into a guaranteed signing bonus, providing yet another hint that the Dolphins are confident moving forward with Tannehill as their starter. He figures to take part in offseason workouts and OTAs in some capacity, with eyes toward full participation when training camp begins in late July. Despite the recent display of confidence, it won't come as a major surprise if the Dolphins use an early draft pick on a quarterback to develop behind Tannehill.

  • Blaine Gabbert: Signing with Tennessee

Gabbert reached an agreement to sign with the Titans on Tuesday, ESPN.com reports.

The Titans were searching for an upgrade for their No. 2 quarterback spot after releasing Matt Cassel earlier in March. While not exactly reliable, Gabbert is at least closer to Marcus Mariota in terms of playing style, having run for 440 yards on 94 carries (4.7 average) in 19 appearances for the 49ers and Cardinals the past three seasons. The 2011 first-round pick went 2-3 in five starts for Arizona last year, completing 95 of 171 passes (55.6 percent) for 1,086 yards (6.4 per attempt), with six touchdowns, six interceptions, 23 sacks and seven fumbles (two lost). Gabbert may have to fend off Alex Tanney or another veteran in a competition for Tennessee's backup job.

  • Jets' Teddy Bridgewater: May not participate in offseason workouts

General manager Mike Maccagnan confirmed Monday that Bridgewater (knee) may not be a participant in the offseason program, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports. "That injury may take some time to fully recover from," Maccagnan said. "If all things go well, you guys will have a chance to see him out there to throw this spring."

Maccagnan referenced the "risk-reward" of a signing like Bridgewater, who has taken just nine in-game snaps since tearing the ACL and dislocating the kneecap in his left knee on Aug. 30, 2016. The Jets are hopeful that the program set up by their training staff will help Bridgewater return to the level of play he exhibited in 2014 and 2015, when he averaged 7.24 yards per attempt, posted 28 touchdowns versus 21 interceptions and averaged 4.4 yards per carry in 29 appearances. As the offseason continues, the team will trust in veteran Josh McCown under center, with the potential addition of a QB in the draft threatening the roster spots of Bridgewater, who is guaranteed just $500,000 on his one-year deal, as well as 2015 fourth-round pick Bryce Petty and 2016 second-round selection Christian Hackenberg.

  • Paxton Lynch QB | PIT

Broncos' Paxton Lynch: Offense tailored to strengths

The Broncos plan to adjust their offensive scheme this season to complement the skill sets of both Lynch and new starter Case Keenum.

Broncos head coach Vance Joseph proclaimed a similar sentiment last offseason, noting that the offense under his first year on the sideline would suit Lynch and Trevor Siemian, who has since been shipped to Minnesota. As for this year's quarterback duo, Keenum and Lynch deliver their best work when extending plays with their feet, so roll-out plays should become staples in Denver's offense under coordinator Bill Musgrave. At the same time, that scheme could also be adaptable for Baker Mayfield, Josh Rosen, Josh Allen and other quarterbacks with decent mobility available near the top of the draft. Denver may be able to spin the Keenum signing and playbook adjustment as positives for Lynch's development, but the team could also be looking at developing another signal caller come April as the front office makes its way through the pro-day circuit.

  • Jets' Teddy Bridgewater: Offseason workouts in question

Bridgewater wouldn't commit to taking part in the Jets' offseason program, Jeremy Bergman of NFL.com reports. "That's not something I'm comfortable talking about right now," Bridgewater said in a conference call Wednesday. "I'm pretty sure that will be a discussion I have with the training staff and we'll come up with a plan moving forward."

Bridgewater has played just nine snaps -- all in Week 15 of last season -- since tearing up his left knee in an Aug. 30, 2016 training-camp practice. If his comments reveal anything, his recovery appears to be ongoing, and any upcoming participation in OTAs and/or minicamp will be determined by the health of his surgically-repaired knee. Bridgewater's incentive-laden contract with the Jets contains only $500,000 guaranteed, signifying he could be at risk of becoming a roster casualty this summer if it appears a rookie quarterback is ready to back up incumbent starter Josh McCown, who is presumably past the hand injury that ended his 2017 season.

  • Josh Johnson QB | CIN

    Josh Johnson: Signing with Raiders

Johnson signed with the Raiders on Monday, Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

A 2008 fifth-round pick, Johnson has bounced around the league as a third-string quarterback for most of his career, last attempting a pass in a regular-season game in 2011. He lost out to Geno Smith in a battle for the Giants' No. 2 job last preseason, and then caught on with the Texans for part of November and December. Johnson may get the chance to compete with 2016 fourth-round pick Connor Cook for the backup job in Oakland, though the team also figures to add another veteran and/or draft pick. Johnson is an Oakland native and cousin of Marshawn Lynch.
