Lock completed five of his seven pass attempts for 151 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's preseason game against the Vikings.

Lock drew the start in the Broncos' first preseason game and didn't waste his opportunity to impress the coaching staff. He completed an 80-yard touchdown down the middle of the field to KJ Hamler on the first play of the second drive. On the next possession, Lock led a 10-play, 85 yard touchdown drive that was highlighted by a 33-yard completion to Jerry Jeudy and a four-yard touchdown toss to Trinity Benson. Though he remains in a quarterback competition, Lock impressed in his opening chance this preseason.

Mariota (leg) is in uniform and warming up in advance of Saturday's preseason opener against the Seahawks, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.

It's not yet clear if Mariota will see any action Saturday, but his odds of doing so appear far better than they did Thursday, when it was reported he could be held out of Saturday's contest. Even if Mariota does see action, it seems unlikely the veteran will see significant snaps in the Raiders' exhibition opener.

Rodgers will not play in Saturday's preseason opener against the Texans, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.

Head coach Matt LaFleur said earlier in the week that Rodgers is unlikely to play during the preseason, so it comes as no surprise that he is being held out. Rodgers remains on track to be under center for the Packers in Week 1.

Trace McSorley appears to be replacing Jackson as the starting quarterback for Saturday's preseason game against New Orleans, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.

Jackson went through pregame warmups in uniform, but McSorley was under center when the first-team offense lined up. The Ravens' star quarterback returned from the reserve/COVID-19 list Aug. 6, and while he seems to be healthy, the team seemingly plans to keep Jackson on the sideline Saturday night. Offensive line injuries may be a factor, and the Ravens also are banged up at wide receiver.

McSorley is leading the first-team offense through warmups ahead of Saturday's preseason game against New Orleans, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.

QB Lamar Jackson is in uniform but presumably won't play, allowing McSorley to lead a "first-team offense" that will be missing more than half the starters. Both McSorley and Tyler Huntley are sensible DFS plays, as the Ravens are down to two QBs if Jackson is just an observer Saturday night.

Prescott underwent an MRI on his shoulder Saturday, which confirmed the quarterback is progressing well in his recovery, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.

This follows Prescott's third throwing session since injuring his shoulder. With the positive prognosis, Prescott is expected to get some action against the Texans in the team's second preseason contest next week, although how much work remains to be seen.

Fromm completed eight of 13 passes for 65 yards without a touchdown or interception in Friday's preseason win over the Lions, good for a 74.2 rating.

Fromm's highlight was leading the team on its final drive to a game-winning field goal after initially struggling by taking two drive-ending sacks on previous possessions. Even though this is Fromm's second season, this was actually his first NFL action, as there was no preseason in 2020 and the Bills purposely kept him isolated from the team in case they ran into a COVID situation with the rest of the QB room. Fromm is competing with Davis Webb for the No. 3 role behind Josh Allen and Mitchell Trubisky.

Fields completed 14 of 20 passes for 142 yards and a touchdown and took five carries for 33 yards and another touchdown in Saturday's preseason game against Miami.

Chicago opened the game with five straight three-and-outs, first from Andy Dalton (two drives) and then Fields (three), before the rookie ripped off 17 points over a span of three drives between the end of the second quarter and late in the third. He had a near-interception and a fumble out of bounds early on, but Fields ultimately recovered to finish the afternoon without a sack or turnover, using his speed to elude pressure on multiple occasions, including a 21-yard gain on a scramble. Coach Matt Nagy has said Dalton is the Week 1 starter, but Fields is already starting to apply pressure, albeit with the advantage of facing third-string defenders for much of Saturday's game. It's possible the rookie faces tougher competition in the second week of the preseason, facing Buffalo on Aug. 21.

Dalton completed two of four passes for 18 yards in Saturday's preseason game against Miami.

Dalton played two drives, both three-and-outs. Rookie QB Justin Fields then went three-and-out on his first three series before putting up 17 points (with an eight-yard rushing TD and 30-yard passing TD) over his final four drives. Coach Matt Nagy has been clear about viewing Dalton as his Week 1 starter, but Fields hasn't wasted any time building his case to take over sooner than later. Both quarterbacks figure to take snaps in Chicago's second preseason game Aug. 21 against the Bills.

Cousins won't play in Saturday's preseason game against the Broncos, Chad Graff of The Athletic reports.

The Vikings will hold out 30 players, including Cousins, RB Dalvin Cook and WRs Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson. Coach Mike Zimmer likely will give his starters some run in the second and/or third preseason game, but it may be just a few drives.
