Riley Patterson K | MIA
Lions' Riley Patterson: General manager confident in him
Patterson has earned the starting kicker role for the Lions in 2023, Justin Rogers of The Detroit News reports.
Patterson beat out Michael Badgley for the first shot at being Detroit's kicker this season, and general manager Brad Holmes said Friday that the 23-year-old has "been pretty good" and that he "feels good" about the team's decision. Patterson went 30-for-35 on field-goal attempts over 17 games as the Jaguars' kicker in 2022.

Parker Romo has joined the Bears' practice squad, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Nick Folk K | NYJ
Titans' Nick Folk: Will kick for Titans
Folk will be the Titans' kicker heading into the season, Terry McCormick of TitanInsider.com reports.
Tennessee had a kicking void to fill after the recent release of Michael Badgley. They subsequently obtained Folk in a trade with the Patriots and signed Cade York to their practice squad to address the vacancy. The former will be the team's exclusive kicker going forward, while the latter is viewed as a developmental project. Folk drilled 32 of his 37 field-goal attempts in 2022 while also nailing 32 of his 35 extra-point tries.

Brett Maher K | LAR
Brett Maher: Signing to Rams' practice squad
Maher is signing to the Rams' practice squad, not their active roster, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
It nonetheless makes him a favorite to kick Week 1 at Seattle, as the Rams recently waived rookie Tanner Brown and don't have any other kickers under contract. Maher spent the summer in Denver, where he and Elliott Fry battled for a job before ultimately both getting cut in favor of trade acquisition Wil Lutz. The 33-year-old Maher missed only six kicks in 17 games for Dallas during the 2022 regular season, but he then went 1-for-6 on PATs in two playoff games and earned a ticket out of town.

Mike Badgley K | IND
Michael Badgley: Joins Detroit's practice squad
Badgley signed with the Lions' practice squad Wednesday, Tim Twentyman of the team's official site reports.
Badgley was cut by the Titans on Sunday after converting three of four field goal attempts in Tennessee's preseason finale against the Patriots. prior to his brief stint in Tennessee, Badgley began training camp with the Commanders, but was waived Aug. 20 when Washington opted to go with Joey Slye as their kicker. Badgley, who kicked in 12 games for the Lions in 2022, will now spend the beginning of the 2023 season on the practice squad and could be a candidate for elevation if Riley Patterson struggles early on during the campaign.

Lucas Havrisik K | GB
Lucas Havrisik: Lands with Browns practice squad
Havrisik is set to join the Browns' practice squad.
Days after getting cut by the Colts, Havrisik has found a new home in Cleveland. He will now continue to kick for them at practice and await the opportunity to get called up should anything happen to Dustin Hopkins on the active roster. The 23-year-old kicker spent just one week of his rookie campaign on Indianapolis' practice squad.

Jake Moody K | WAS
49ers' Jake Moody: Could be ready for Week 1
San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan said Wednesday that he expects Moody (quadriceps) will be healthy soon, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Moody is at least healthier than fellow 49ers kicker Zane Gonzalez, who was placed on injured reserve Tuesday with a calf injury. Gonzalez will now miss the entire season or else reach an injury settlement with San Francisco, whereas Moody still has hope to suit up Week 1 and handle the placekicking duties. Shanahan acknowledged that the 49ers plan to add a kicker to the practice squad, giving them a backup plan in case Moody's quad injury lingers heading into the Sept. 10 season opener at Pittsburgh. If healthy, Moody won't make for the most inspiring fantasy option in Week 1 with the 49ers facing a tough defense in a difficult stadium for kicking. However, Moody's favorable team context could eventually allow for Year 1 fantasy value even if he misses some kicks along the way.

Cade York K | CIN
Cade York: Joins Tennessee's practice squad
York is signing with the Titans' practice squad Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
York was waived by the Browns on Tuesday after the team acquired Dustin Hopkins from the Chargers. The Titans also made a trade for a kicker by acquiring Nick Folk from the Patriots, but York will also be part of the organization on the practice squad.

Brett Maher K | LAR
Rams' Brett Maher: Joining Rams
Maher is set to finalize a contract with the Rams on Wednesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
The Rams didn't have a kicker on their roster after cutting Tanner Brown on Tuesday. Maher had attended training camp with the Broncos, but he ended up losing out on kicker duties in Denver after the team acquired Wil Lutz in a trade. The strong-legged but occasionally inaccurate Maher now looks like the favorite to handle kicking duties for the Rams in Week 1, barring the team bringing aboard additional competition.

Zane Gonzalez K | ATL
49ers' Zane Gonzalez: Placed on injured reserve
The 49ers placed Gonzalez (calf) on injured reserve Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Gonzalez sustained a calf injury ahead of Friday's preseason game against the Chargers, and coach Kyle Shanahan recently said the kicker would be sidelined for a few weeks. However, unless Gonzalez is waived with an injury settlement at some point, he'll be forced to miss the 2023 season.
