Richardson (eye) has been cleared to fully participate in practice at voluntary workouts this week, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan reports. Richardson initially opted against reporting for the start of the team's voluntary offseason workout program after he requested a trade back in February but has since had a change of heart, as he reported to the team earlier this week. Coming off a fractured orbital that ended his 2025 season last October, Richardson is back to 100 percent health. There's still a decent chance he's not part of the Colts' roster later this summer after Indy declined the quarterback's 2027 option. Richardson is competing with Riley Leonard for the QB2 gig behind Daniel Jones and figures to draw interest as a one-time first-round pick with theoretical upside when healthy.

Richardson (eye) reported for voluntary offseason workouts Monday, Stephen Holder of ESPN reports. Richardson requested a trade from the Colts in February and didn't attend workouts over the previous two weeks, but he has seemingly decided that staying home will do him no good for the time being and will join his teammates in practice. It remains to be seen if Richardson is able to participate without limitations after finishing the previous campaign on IR due to an eye injury. If Richardson and the Colts manage to mend fences, he has a chance of being the team's Week 1 starter, as Daniel Jones is recovering from a Dec. 7 Achilles tear, while the other QBs on the roster are Richardson, 2025 sixth-round pick Riley Leonard and Seth Henigan.

Indianapolis GM Chris Ballard said Monday at the NFL owners' meeting that "[t]here's definitely a scenario" in which Richardson (eye) remains with the Colts in 2026, Stephen Holder of ESPN reports. Richardson requested and received permission to seek a trade in late February, and Indianapolis has since re-signed Daniel Jones (Achilles) to a two-year extension that solidifies him as the team's starter. Meanwhile, 2025 sixth-round pick Riley Leonard looked capable of locking down the No. 2 job during the lone start of his rookie campaign, leaving Richardson's status unclear. Ballard also said he remains open to adding another QB due to Jones' uncertainty for Week 1, which could indicate that the team is still looking to move on from Richardson. Richardson ended last season on IR after fracturing the orbital bone of his right eye in October.

Richardson (eye) will not be activated from injured reserve this week and is out for Sunday's regular-season finale against the Texans. Richardson is still having vision impairments after suffering a fractured orbital bone Oct. 12. He had his 21-day practice window opened Dec. 18 but has only been a limited participant in practice the past couple weeks. After making 11 starts in 2024, Richardson lost his starting job to Daniel Jones over the summer, and the Colts then turned to 44-year-old Philip Rivers in Week 15 in an attempt to save the season. Richardson made just two appearances in 2025, completing one of two passes for nine yards. He "rushed" four times for negative-one yard via kneel-downs. Richardson's future in Indianapolis will be a discussion point this upcoming offseason.

Coach Shane Steichen noted Wednesday that Richardson (orbital) won't be activated from IR ahead of Sunday's game against the Jaguars, James Boyd of The Athletic reports. Steichen previously confirmed that Philip Rivers will draw the start at QB for the 8-7 Colts on Sunday. With Richardson not slated to come off IR in advance of Week 17 action, Riley Leonard will continue to back up Rivers this weekend.
