Diggs is expected to make his preseason debut Saturday against Detroit, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Diggs, Terry McLaurin and Jayden Daniels are all lined up to play Saturday after all three sat out of the Commanders' preseason opener against the Dolphins on Friday, Aug. 14. Diggs joined the Commanders in early August on a one-year, $12 million contract after playing for the Patriots in 2025. He's slated to serve as the team's WR2 behind McLaurin, with Luke McCaffrey, Treylon Burks and rookie third-rounder Antonio Williams all competing for the No. 3 role.

Diggs isn't in line to play in Friday's preseason contest versus the Dolphins. After the Patriots released Diggs in March, he finally found in a landing spot in the early stages of training camp, inking a one-year, $12 million contract to join the Commanders. While he has a week of practice under his belt with his new squad, he'll have to wait until at least Saturday, Aug. 22 at Detroit to get some in-game preseason reps with new QB Jayden Daniels and top WR Terry McLaurin. In 17 regular-season games for New England last season, Diggs put together an 85-1,013-4 line on 102 targets.

Diggs is slated to sign a one-year, $12 million contract with the Commanders, John Keim of ESPN.com reports. Diggs helped pace the Patriots' fourth-ranked pass offense in 2025, reeling in 85 of 102 targets for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns in 17 regular-season contests. New England released him at the start of the new league year in March, and after legal issues were settled in May and the NFL closed its review of potential violations of the personal conduct policy in June, wide receiver-needy teams like the Commanders have been tied to him. With Washington finally coming to terms with Diggs, he'll join Terry McLaurin at the top of the WR corps for QB Jayden Daniels.

The Commanders and Diggs agreed to a contract Wednesday, NFL reporter Jordan Schultz reports. Per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com, the two sides have been circling the wagons, and now Diggs will join his fourth different team in as many seasons. Diggs is coming off an 85-1,013-4 line on 102 targets in 17 regular-season games with the Patriots last season en route to an appearance in Super Bowl LX. In Washington, he'll create a top WR pairing with Terry McLaurin and be on the receiving end of passes from third-year QB Jayden Daniels.

Diggs is reportedly on the Commanders' radar, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com. Per Fowler, the Commanders are in wait-and-see mode in terms of their wide receiver corps, but the team is monitoring the situation with Diggs, who the report suggests is intrigued by the chance to play for Washington. For now, Terry McLaurin is the team's clear-cut top WR, with all of Antonio Williams, Luke McCaffrey, Treylon Burks, Dyami Brown, Jaylin Lane and Van Jefferson competing for slotting behind McLaurin.
