  • Ryan Weathers SP | NYY

Yankees' Ryan Weathers: Heads to paternity list

The Yankees placed Weathers on the paternity list Wednesday.

Weathers will be away from the Yankees for the next 1-to-3 days while he welcomes a new addition to his family. After tossing 7.1 scoreless innings in a win over the Royals his last time out Sunday, Weathers wasn't scheduled to make his next turn until Saturday in Houston. As such, the Yankees shouldn't have to adjust their rotation to accommodate for Weathers' move to the paternity list.

  • Graham Pauley 3B | MIA

Marlins' Graham Pauley: Sitting against righty

Pauley is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.

The left-handed-hitting Pauley often sits versus southpaws, but he'll be heading to the bench Wednesday while right-hander Kyle Leahy starts for the Cardinals. Though Javier Sanoja will fill in at third base in the series finale, Pauley could face a greater threat from Connor Norby for reps at the hot corner once Christopher Morel (oblique) returns from the injured list. Morel had been in line to serve as the Marlins' primary first baseman before straining his oblique prior to Opening Day, but Norby has been handling those duties through the first four weeks of the season and has produced a .738 OPS. Pauley, meanwhile, has struggled to a .492 OPS and has struck out at a 27.3 percent clip over 55 plate appearances.

  • Connor Norby 2B | MIA

Marlins' Connor Norby: Receiving breather Wednesday

Norby is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.

Liam Hicks will fill in at first base for Norby, who will receive a rest for the matinee game after starting in each of the Marlins' previous 11 contests while slashing .282/.326/.436 with one home run, five RBI and three runs. Christopher Morel (oblique) could soon return from the injured list and unseat Norby as the Marlins' primary first baseman, though Norby might still have a path to receiving steady reps at either third base or designated hitter.

  • Kyle Stowers RF | MIA

Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Taking seat for day game

Stowers is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.

Stowers missed the first three weeks of the season due to a right hamstring strain before coming off the injured list Sunday and starting in each of the Marlins' subsequent three games while going 3-for-10 with a double, two walks and two runs. The 28-year-old hasn't suffered any reported setbacks since returning, so his absence Wednesday looks to be the result of him getting rest for a day game after a night game.

  • Jakob Marsee OF | MIA

Marlins' Jakob Marsee: Swats first homer of 2026

Marsee went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Cardinals.

The center fielder launched his first homer of the season, taking Dustin May deep to lead off the bottom of the first inning, but it was the only extra-base hit Miami batters managed to produce all night. Marsee has struggled to find much consistency to begin the year but he may be heating up, slashing .242/.390/.394 over the last nine games with two steals, two RBI, seven runs and a 7:6 BB:K.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Guardians' Rhys Hoskins: Out of lineup again

Hoskins is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Astros.

After starting four straight contests, Hoskins has now been out of the lineup for two straight. Jose Ramirez will receive a start at designated hitter, while Daniel Schneemann will occupy third base for the Guardians in Wednesday's rubber match.

  • Chris Paddack SP | MIA

Marlins' Chris Paddack: Fans seven in Tuesday's loss

Paddack (0-4) took the loss Tuesday as the Marlins fell 5-3 to the Cardinals, surrendering five runs on eight hits and a walk over 4.2 innings. He struck out seven.

The seven Ks were a season high, but it was otherwise another shaky performance from Paddack, who failed to last five innings for the fourth time in five outings. The veteran right-hander has served up five homers in 24 innings, leaving him with a 6.38 ERA and 1.54 WHIP despite a seemingly strong 25:6 K:BB, and Paddack may be running out of time to turn things around before he gets bumped from the rotation by younger arms like Robby Snelling. Paddack's unlikely to collect his first win of 2026 in his next start, which is set to come on the road early next week against the Dodgers.

  • Nathan Church OF | STL

Cardinals' Nathan Church: Flashes skills in Tuesday's win

Church went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a stolen base in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Marlins.

The fourth-inning long ball off Chris Paddack was Church's second homer of the season, while the steal was his third. The 25-year-old outfielder has yet to get a start against a left-handed pitcher this season, muting his fantasy appeal in shallower formats, but Church may break out of a strong-side platoon role if he continues to heat up. Over his last five games, he's gone 7-for-17 (.412) with a double, a homer, three RBI, four runs and all three of his stolen bases on the year.

  • Riley O'Brien RP | STL

Cardinals' Riley O'Brien: Notches seventh save

O'Brien gave up a hit and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Tuesday to record his seventh save of the season in a 5-3 win over the Marlins.

The right-hander topped 100 mph three times in 17 pitches (11 strikes) as he converted his seventh save in eight chances to begin the season. O'Brien also has three wins and two holds in his 13 appearances, but he's seized control of the closer job for the Cardinals with a dominant start to 2026, posting a 0.00 ERA, 0.45 WHIP and 15:0 K:BB over 13.1 innings.

  • Martin Perez SP | ATL

Braves' Martin Perez: Drawing another start Thursday

Perez is slated to start Thursday's game against the Nationals in Washington, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

After being re-signed last week, Perez slotted back into the Atlanta rotation for his third start of the season and delivered a gem in last Friday's 9-0 win over the Phillies, tossing six scoreless frames. The veteran lefty is now holding down a 2.21 ERA and 0.93 WHIP over 20.1 innings on the season, but he could soon be moved out of the rotation with Spencer Strider (oblique) trending toward a potential return from the injured list next weekend. How Perez fares Thursday could decide whether he receives another start before Strider returns or shifts into a long-relief role.
