Pfaadt didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Red Sox, allowing five runs on seven hits over 5.2 innings. He struck out eight.

Pfaadt's eight strikeouts marked a new season high, though he was hurt by the home-run ball Wednesday -- the righty gave up solo shots to Nick Sogard and Jarren Duran before Mickey Gasper added a three-run blast in the sixth inning. Prior to Wednesday, Pfaadt had gone four straight outings without allowing an earned run, posting a 0.69 WHIP across 27.2 innings in that span. His ERA now sits at 3.39 across 98.1 innings this season with a 1.14 WHIP and 69:24 K:BB. Pfaadt's currently in line to face the Cubs at home his next time out.

Smith earned the save in Wednesday's 1-0 win over the Guardians, allowing one hit and no walks while striking out five over two scoreless innings.

Smith entered with a one-run lead in the eighth inning and was dominant, throwing 22 of 30 pitches for strikes to earn his third save of the campaign. The 26-year-old has now converted two of three save chances since taking over as the Giants' closer and has posted a 3.24 ERA through eight August appearances. On the season, he owns three saves and six holds while posting a 2.73 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 33:12 K:BB across 26.1 innings.

Reilly (elbow) has posted a 5.50 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 27:5 K:BB in 18 innings over four starts for Double-A Chesapeake since being reinstated from the 60-day injured list July 21.

Just over 14 months after undergoing Tommy John surgery and after completing five rehab starts, Reilly received the green light to join the Chesapeake rotation. The right-hander's ERA and WHIP have been inflated by five home runs allowed and a .476 BABIP at Chesapeake, but his stellar 27.5 K-BB% paints a more encouraging picture of his performance coming off a major arm operation.

Caglianone was removed from Wednesday's game against the Athletics with right ankle soreness.

Caglianone was hit in the ribs by a pitch in the third inning, but his ankle turned out to be the reason for his removal a couple frames later. It's unclear whether the 23-year-old's injury will be enough to keep him out of Thursday's series finale, but the Royals may provide more information in the near future. John Rave would be next in line to start in right field if Caglianone has to sit.

Pena was removed from Wednesday's game against the Angels due to a right hand contusion, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Pena initially remained in the game after taking a pitch off his hand in the first inning, but he was eventually lifted for a pinch hitter in the third. The Astros are officially calling his injury a bruise, which suggests he avoided a fracture, but he may still sit out a game or two while he manages lingering soreness.

Mendez was reinstated from High-A Eugene's 7-day injured list Tuesday and assigned to Double-A Richmond.

Mendez had resided on the 7-day injured list at Double-A San Antonio in the Padres organization before he was dealt to the Giants on Aug. 3 as part of the deal that sent lefty Robbie Ray to San Francisco. Prior to being traded, Mendez had already made one rehab start with the Padres' High-A affiliate, and he made another 2.1-inning appearance with the Giants' California League affiliate in San Jose last weekend before getting cleared to move up to Double-A. Mendez possesses a spot on the Giants' 40-man roster, but he's not under consideration to make his big-league debut in 2026.

Bateman was removed from Wednesday's game against the Rays due to right hamstring tightness.

Bateman went 0-for-2 before his hamstring forced him out of the game in the fifth inning. The severity of his injury remains unknown, but Myles Straw could be in line to start in center field if Bateman needs to miss any amount of time.

Natera said Wednesday that he's managing a tight back and is day-to-day, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Natera hasn't made an appearance out of the Angels bullpen since Aug. 11, though he was available for most of last week before he tweaked his back Saturday. He noted prior to Wednesday's game against the Astros that he hadn't done any throwing before the contest to test out his back, so the Angels may look to stay away from him for another day or two. Natera has emerged as one of the Angels' top relievers since being called up from Triple-A Salt Lake on June 5, gathering three saves, four holds and one win over 23 appearances while turning in a 2.00 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 42:10 K:BB across 27 innings.

The Phillies designated Keller for assignment Wednesday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Keller gave up one run in three innings during his MLB debut July 25 but has coughed up 12 runs in just 9.2 frames since returning to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The 32-year-old righty will now lose his place on the 40-man roster to make room for Nestor Cortes, who signed a major-league deal with the Phillies on Wednesday.

Lee went 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Pirates.

Hitting ninth Wednesday, Lee had a good afternoon, and he's now batting .438 with six runs scored across his last eight games. The rookie started at third base in this one, and his ability to move between the hot corner and second gives him a little extra versatility. If Lee keeps swinging a hot bat, the Tigers will likely keep finding ways to get him in the lineup at either position, making him someone to keep an eye on in fantasy leagues over the last month of the season.
