Sean Murphy C | ATL
Braves' Sean Murphy: Behind plate to begin rehab stint
Murphy (hip) played four innings at catcher for High-A Rome on Tuesday, going 0-for-2 at the plate.
The veteran backstop had to delay the start of his rehab assignment while he attended to a family situation, but Murphy finally got back onto the field Tuesday. He underwent hip surgery in September, and while Murphy will be ramped up slowly as he completes the final stages of his recovery, he's still on track to make his season debut with Atlanta before the end of the month.

Samuel Basallo C | BAL
Orioles' Samuel Basallo: Receiving afternoon off
Basallo is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.
The Orioles are facing a left-handed starter (Eduardo Rodriguez) and are wrapping up their series with a day game after a night game, so the left-handed-hitting Basallo will get a breather following a stretch of five straight starts. Sam Huff will draw the start at catcher in his Orioles debut after being called up from Triple-A Norfolk earlier Wednesday.

Ketel Marte 2B | ARI
Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Returns to Arizona lineup
Marte (back) will start at designated hitter and bat leadoff in Wednesday's game versus the Orioles.
Lower-back tightness led to Marte being a late scratch from Tuesday's lineup, but he's feeling well enough to be the Diamondbacks' DH for Wednesday's series finale. Ildemaro Vargas will play second base for Arizona.

Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE
Guardians' Rhys Hoskins: Remaining on bench Wednesday
Hoskins is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.
Since the calendar flipped to April, Hoskins has slashed just .152/.222/.333 with a 27.8 percent strikeout rate over nine games. As a result of his ongoing struggles, Hoskins will be left out of the lineup for the second straight day, with both of his absences coming against right-handed starting pitchers. Hoskins should still be a mainstay in the starting nine versus southpaws, but Guardians manager Stephen Vogt may prefer to use Kyle Manzardo at first base and a rotation of players at the designated-hitter spot against righties.

Wilyer Abreu CF | BOS
Red Sox's Wilyer Abreu: Getting first day off Wednesday
Abreu is out of the lineup for Wednesday's contest in Minnesota.
Abreu will receive his first breather of the season in a planned day off. Roman Anthony will occupy right field, Jarren Duran will play left field, and Masataka Yoshida will serve as the designated hitter as the Red Sox try to avoid the sweep.

Willson Contreras C | BOS
Red Sox's Willson Contreras: Out of Wednesday's lineup
Contreras (back) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Minnesota.
Contreras exited Tuesday's 6-0 loss after his lower back tightened up on him. With a team off day looming Thursday before the Red Sox begin a homestand Friday, it's sensible to rest Contreras for the series finale Wednesday. Andruw Monasterio will handle first base and bat sixth for Boston. Per Ian Browne of MLB.com, manager Alex Cora believes Contreras has a good chance to be ready to play Friday versus the Tigers.

Jayvien Sandridge RP | BAL
Orioles' Jayvien Sandridge: Cut from 40-man roster
The Orioles designated Sandridge for assignment Wednesday.
His spot on the 40-man roster will be absorbed by Sam Huff, who has been added as a third catcher to Baltimore's active roster. It's the third time since January that Sandridge has been designated for assignment. He's tossed 1.2 scoreless frames with a 2:3 K:BB at Triple-A Norfolk.
