JJ Wetherholt 2B | STL
Cardinals' JJ Wetherholt: Officially added to 40-man roster
The Cardinals selected Wetherholt's contract from Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday.
St. Louis freed up a spot on the 40-man roster for their top prospect by placing outfielder Lars Nootbaar (heels) on the 60-day injured list. Following a dazzling 2025 campaign that included stops at Memphis and Double-A Springfield, Wetherholt continued to impress throughout spring training, posting a .386 on-base percentage in the Grapefruit League while contributing two home runs and two stolen bases. He's projected to serve as the Cardinals' everyday second baseman and is expected to bat leadoff in Thursday's season opener versus Rays right-hander Drew Rasmussen.

Justin Crawford CF | PHI
Phillies' Justin Crawford: Contract selected from minors
The Phillies selected Crawford's contract from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Wednesday.
The Phillies informed Crawford last week that he would be on the Opening Day roster, though there was never much doubt. He will operate as the club's primary center fielder and is poised to bat ninth in the lineup. Crawford slashed .334/.411/.452 with seven home runs and 46 stolen bases at Triple-A Lehigh Valley in 2025 and should be an immediate fantasy contributor in the steals department, at the very least.

TJ Rumfield 1B | COL
Rockies' T.J. Rumfield: Contract officially selected
The Rockies selected Rumfield's contract from Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday.
Manager Warren Schaeffer announced Sunday that Rumfield made Colorado's Opening Day roster, and the first baseman has now officially been added to the big-league club. The 25-year-old is now on the cusp of his MLB debut and is expected to see regular action at first base after posting a .913 OPS with five homers in 23 spring training games. He spent last season at the Triple-A level with the Yankees, where he had a .285/.378/.447 slash line in 138 contests.

Lars Nootbaar CF | STL
Cardinals' Lars Nootbaar: Goes to 60-day IL
The Cardinals placed Nootbaar (heels) on the 60-day injured list Wednesday.
Nootbaar began a running progression last week and took live batting practice Tuesday, but the Cardinals are planning to proceed cautiously with the outfielder, who underwent surgery in October to address Haglund's deformities on both of his heels. A firmer target date for Nootbaar's season debut should become available in the weeks to come once he ramps up the intensity and frequency of his on-field work, but he won't be eligible to debut until late May after landing on the 60-day IL. The transaction will free up a spot on the 40-man roster for top prospect JJ Wetherholt, who will be part of the Cardinals' Opening Day squad.

Jared Oliva RF | SF
Giants' Jared Oliva: Makes Opening Day roster
The Giants selected Oliva's contract from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.
Oliva was in camp as a non-roster invitee and earned a spot after slashing .375/.444/.550 with one home run and 14 steals in Cactus League action. The 30-year-old has not played in the majors since 2021 and is poised to back up at all three outfield spots.

Kyle Teel C | CHW
White Sox's Kyle Teel: Moved to 10-day injured list
The White Sox placed Teel (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday.
Teel went down with a Grade 2 right hamstring strain in mid-March while playing for Team Italy during the World Baseball Classic. The young catcher was given a 4-to-6 week timeline for recovery, and his progress so far suggests he has a chance to return closer to the front end of that timetable. While Teel is shelved, Edgar Quero and Reese McGuire will form Chicago's catching tandem.

Anthony Nunez RP | BAL
Orioles' Anthony Nunez: Clinches roster spot
The Orioles recalled Nunez from Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday.
Despite being optioned to the minors back on March 8, Nunez will end up joining the Orioles ahead of Opening Day after a spot opened up with Keegan Akin (groin) landing on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move. Nunez has yet to make his MLB debut but pitched effectively out of the Norfolk bullpen last season after he was acquired in a trade with the Mets last July. Over 16 appearances for Norfolk, Nunez posted a 3.45 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 21:7 K:BB across 15.2 innings.

Jackson Holliday 2B | BAL
Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Hitting shelf to begin season
The Orioles placed Holliday (hand) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday.
Holliday was unable to play in any Grapefruit League games after requiring a procedure Feb. 12 to remove the fractured hamate bone from his right hand, so his move to the IL was fully expected. The 22-year-old appears to be making solid progress in his recovery, as he was able to take live batting practice last week without incident. He's likely trending toward a mid-April return from the IL.

Brooks Baldwin SS | CHW
White Sox's Brooks Baldwin: Out with sprained elbow
The White Sox placed Baldwin (elbow) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday.
After Baldwin's right elbow injury was previously described as soreness, the White Sox are officially listing him with a right elbow sprain, suggesting that he's dealing with ligament damage. Even if Baldwin doesn't wind up requiring surgery, the utility player might be looking at an extended absence.
