Rangers' Corey Seager: Ropes homer in loss

Seager went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 8-3 loss to the Orioles.

Seager's eighth-inning shot, which traveled 422 feet to right center, was his second homer in as many days and and third of the season. He's also walked five times (.429 OBP) and reached base safely in all six games played.

  • Josh Jung 3B | TEX

Rangers' Josh Jung: Logs first hits

Jung went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Wednesday's 8-3 loss to Baltimore.

Jung, who returned to the lineup after a getting a day off Tuesday, logged his first hits of the season and drove in his first run. He was hitless over his first 18 at-bats before a run-scoring single in the fourth inning. Tuesday's rest day may have been the ticket for Jung, who registered three hard-hit batted-ball events, per Statcast.

  • Cade Smith P | CLE

Guardians' Cade Smith: Allows runs in non-save situation

Smith allowed one run on one hit over one inning in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Dodgers.

Smith entered a non-save situation -- Cleveland was leading 4-0 at the time -- and was touched for a solo home run by Freddie Freeman. It was the first homer allowed by the Guardians' closer, who has now given up runs in three consecutive outings, including a blown save last Saturday.

  • George Valera CF | CLE

Guardians' George Valera: Rehab assignment begins

Valera (calf) started in right field for Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday and went 0-for-4 with a walk.

Valera had been scheduled to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday, but it was pushed back a day. He last appeared in a game for the Guardians during spring training on March 9 and likely will need a few more plate appearances while on rehab. Once ready to go, Valera is expected to rejoin the Guardians.

  • Shane Smith RP | CHW

White Sox's Shane Smith: Lasts three innings Wednesday

Smith (0-2) was tagged with the loss Wednesday against the Marlins after allowing eight runs (seven earned) on eight hits and two walks across three innings. He fanned one.

Smith allowed four runs (three earned) and didn't even finish the second inning in his season debut against the Brewers on Thursday, and while he at least completed three frames this time around, the results were even worse. The White Sox don't have a lot of depth in their rotation, so Smith isn't at risk of losing his spot any time soon; however, the results have been pretty disappointing. Through two starts, he has allowed 12 runs (10 earned) on 11 hits and four walks while fanning three across 4.2 innings, which translates to a bloated 19.29 ERA.

  • Brendon Little RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Brendon Little: Tagged with loss in relief

Little (0-1) was tagged with the loss in relief Wednesday against the Rockies. He allowed one unearned run on one hit and one walk while striking out one across one inning.

Little allowed the game-deciding run in the 10th frame via an RBI single from Tyler Freeman into center field. It's been a rocky start to the season for Little, who has given up eight runs (seven earned) with a 4:3 K:BB across 2.1 innings in three appearances.

  • Kevin Gausman SP | TOR

Blue Jays' Kevin Gausman: Fans 10 in no-decision

Gausman didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against Colorado. He tossed six scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out 10.

Gausman enjoyed an impressive 2026 debut after striking out 11 across six innings in a no-decision against the A's on Friday, and he built off that performance to record double-digit strikeouts for the second game in a row. Few pitchers in the majors have looked as dominant as Gausman over the first two outings of the season; however, the star right-hander will have a tougher assignment the next time he steps on the mound, as he's tentatively scheduled to make his next start next week at home against the Dodgers.

  • Blue Jays' Davis Schneider: Knocks in run Wednesday

Schneider went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Rockies.

Schneider has gone 2-for-5 so far in the series, but he's done damage every time he's recorded a hit with a home run and three total RBI. Schneider's playing time has been sporadic so far and he only has seven at-bats across three games to open the season, and that inconsistent role limits his upside in most formats as a bench option in a deep Toronto roster.

  • Josh Bell DH | MIN

Twins' Josh Bell: Connects for first homer

Bell went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run, two walks and three total runs scored in Wednesday's 13-9 loss to the Royals.

Bell has gone 3-for-15 (.200) with four walks and seven strikeouts over his first five games this season. All three of his hits have gone for extra bases (two doubles, one homer). The 33-year-old is getting steady playing time as the Twins' designated hitter, but he's batted no higher than fifth in the order after being viewed as a potential cleanup hitter late in spring training.

  • Joe Ryan SP | MIN

Twins' Joe Ryan: Struggles in loss

Ryan (0-1) allowed five runs on nine hits and struck out three without walking a batter over four innings to take the loss Wednesday versus the Royals.

Ryan didn't give up a ton of hard contact, but the Royals strung together a three-run tally in the second inning and added an additional run in each of the third and fourth frames. The right-hander exited at 77 pitches (49 strikes) in a disappointing follow-up to his 5.1 scoreless innings versus the Orioles on Opening Day. Ryan is keeping the walks down with a 10:2 K:BB over 9.1 innings so far, but he will need to avoid putting traffic on the bases, which can bite him if an opponent can generate some power against the flyball pitcher. Ryan is tentatively lined up to make his next start at home in a tough matchup versus the Tigers early next week, which could be the first outing of a two-start week for the Twins' ace.
