  • Royals' Jac Caglianone: Makes return from IL

The Royals reinstated Caglianone (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Monday.

Caglianone had been on the shelf since July 26, but he appears to have been fully recovered from his left hamstring strain for quite some time. The rookie wrapped up an uncommonly long rehab assignment at Triple-A Omaha over the weekend, with Caglianone proving his health by slashing .385/.467/.692 with five home runs in 16 games. Caglianone hit for limited power in the big leagues (.133 ISO in 161 plate appearances) prior to landing on the IL, but the Royals are hoping that the extra time in the minors to regain confidence at the plate will set the 22-year-old up for a big finish to the season. He should settle back into an everyday role for the Royals while moving between the corner-outfield spots and designated hitter.

  • Royals' Carter Jensen: Added to big-league roster

The Royals selected Jensen's contract from Triple-A Omaha on Monday.

One of the top catching prospects in all of baseball, Jensen will join the Royals for September after he delivered a .290/.377/.501 slash line with 20 home runs and 10 stolen bases in 111 games between Omaha and Double-A Northwest Arkansas this season. The Royals' immediate plans for Jensen aren't clear, but the team's willingness to frequently use top backstop Salvador Perez at designated hitter or first base could pave the way for Jensen to see semi-regular playing time at catcher or DH. Jensen bats from the left side, so the Royals may look to limit his exposure to southpaws over the final month of the season.

  • Royals' Jonathan India: Hits IL with wrist sprain

The Royals placed India on the 10-day injured list Monday due to a left wrist sprain.

India had been held out of the lineup in both of the Royals' previous two games, but the nature of his absence wasn't known until the team revealed Monday that he was dealing with an injury. The severity of the wrist sprain isn't known, making it difficult to speculate how quickly India might be able to return from the IL. While India is on the shelf, Michael Massey and Adam Frazier should be in line to see the bulk of the starts at second base.

  • Ben Bowden RP | ATH

Athletics' Ben Bowden: Out for remainder of season

The Athletics transferred Bowden (lat) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday.

Bowden landed on the 15-day IL on Aug. 22 after straining his left lat, and his move to the 60-day IL officially ends his season. The 30-year-old reliever posted a 4.22 ERA and 7:5 K:BB over 10.2 frames with the big club.

  • Max Schuemann 2B | ATH

Athletics' Max Schuemann: Back with big club

The Athletics recalled Schuemann from Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday.

Schuemann was sent down to the minors on Aug. 22 after slashing only .200/.303/.288 in 188 plate appearances, but he's back in the big leagues with the Athletics' active roster expanding to 28 men Monday. The 28-year-old will fill a utility role in September.

  • Athletics' Eduarniel Nunez: Sent back to minors

The Athletics optioned Nunez to Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday.

Acquired from the Padres in a July 31 trade, Nunez has been roughed up for eight runs with a 9:7 K:BB in eight relief innings during his time with the Athletics. The 26-year-old has the potential to develop into a late-inning weapon, but he'll head back to the minors for now.

  • Logan Davidson 1B | LAA

Astros' Logan Davidson: Cast off 40-man roster

The Astros designated Davidson for assignment Monday.

Davidson will give up his spot on the 40-man roster to right-hander Luis Garcia (elbow), who was activated from the 60-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Monday versus the Angels. Since being claimed off waivers from the Athletics in July and getting sent to Triple-A Sugar Land, Davidson is hitting .207 with a 34.4 percent strikeout rate in 22 games.

  • Scott McGough RP | ATH

Athletics' Scott McGough: Added to roster

The Athletics selected McGough's contract from Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday.

McGough inked a minor-league contract with the Athletics back in June after being cut loose by the Diamondbacks. He's posted a 3.58 ERA and 37:12 K:BB over 37.2 innings at the Triple-A level in 2025 but has yielded five runs with a 5:6 K:BB in seven frames in the big leagues this season.

  • Astros' Taylor Trammell: Returns from 10-day IL

The Astros activated Trammell (neck) from the 10-day injured list Monday.

Trammell had been out of action for the Astros since Aug. 20, when he sustained a neck strain after a face-first collision with the outfield wall. The 27-year-old was able to complete a three-game rehab assignment with Triple-A Sugar Land over the weekend and now appears set to fill a depth role in the Houston outfield in September. Over 112 plate appearances in the majors this season, Trammell is slashing .208/.313/.354 with three home runs, two stolen bases, 11 RBI and 10 runs.

  • Luis Garcia SP | HOU

Astros' Luis Garcia: Activated ahead of Monday's start

The Astros reinstated Garcia (elbow) from the 60-day injured list ahead of his start Monday against the Angels in Houston.

Garcia, who underwent Tommy John surgery in May 2023 and required a longer than usual recovery, is coming off his best rehab start, as he went six innings and allowed one earned run with five strikeouts for Triple-A Sugar Land this past Tuesday. He's tentatively set up for a two-start week in his return to the big leagues, with a matchup in Texas on tap for Sunday.
