  • Zach Pop RP | PHI

Mariners' Zach Pop: Selected to MLB roster

The Mariners selected Pop's contract from Triple-A Tacoma on Friday.

After signing a minor-league deal with Seattle in April, Pop began his tenure in the organization in rookie ball but joined the Triple-A club in late May, and at that level he owns a 3.52 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in 7.2 innings. He'll now join the big-league squad to give the Mariners some extra bullpen depth and will likely be limited to low-leverage situations after posting a 5.81 ERA in the majors across the past two seasons. Logan Evans was optioned to Tacoma in a corresponding move.

  • Guardians' Austin Hedges: Activated from IL

The Guardians reinstated Hedges (concussion) from the 7-day injured list Friday.

Hedges landed on the injured list last Friday after getting hit by the backswing of Jazz Chisholm, but he will now rejoin the active roster following a minimum-length stay on the IL. The 32-year-old backstop is slashing just .113/.217/.283 through 61 plate appearances this season and will continue to serve as Bo Naylor's backup.

  • Logan Gilbert SP | SEA

    Mariners' Logan Gilbert: Nearing return

Gilbert (elbow) is throwing a bullpen session Friday, and if all goes well, he will make his next start with the Mariners, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Gilbert made three rehab starts and is currently with the team at T-Mobile Park on Friday. If he doesn't endure a setback during Friday's bullpen session, he would be in line to make his return to the rotation. If that's the case, he'd likely pitch during a three-game home set against Boston that begins Monday.

  • Aaron Civale RP | CHC

White Sox's Aaron Civale: Making Sox debut Sunday

White Sox manager Will Venable said that Civale will start Sunday's game against the Rangers, Kyle Williams of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

The White Sox acquired Civale on Friday, after he requested to be traded from Milwaukee upon being told earlier this week that he would be moved to the bullpen. He'll immediately slot into the starting rotation for his new organization but could be traded again prior to the July 31 deadline, given the White Sox's status as a non-contender in addition to the fact that the right-hander is on an expiring contract. Civale logged a 4.91 ERA over 22 innings with the Brewers and pitched into the sixth inning just once in five starts this season.

  • Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU

Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Still not hitting

Alvarez (hand) hasn't started hitting, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reported Friday.

An MRI on May 30 revealed Alvarez had a fracture in his right hand, and the Astros decided to shut him down from hitting until the injury was fully healed. Given Friday's news, the fracture hasn't healed yet. A timeline for return hasn't been established, but Houston could elect to keep him out until after its nine-game road trip -- which starts Monday -- ends.

  • Chas McCormick LF | CHC

    Astros' Chas McCormick: Starts swinging

McCormick (oblique) hit off a tee Friday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

It's the first update on McCormick since the Astros placed him on the 10-day injured list May 31 due to a strained left oblique. While it's encouraging to see him begin swinging a bat, McCormick likely still has more hurdles to clear before being activated.

  • Nick Sandlin RP | DET

Blue Jays' Nick Sandlin: Rehab moved to Triple-A

Sandlin (lat) allowed four runs on four hits and no walks in one-third of an inning during Thursday's rehab appearance with Triple-A Buffalo.

Sandlin made a pair of rehab outings in the Florida Complex League and has had his assignment shifted to Triple-A. The 28-year-old allowed a pair of homers in Thursday's appearance, but, per Mitch Bannon of The Athletic, the Blue Jays are more focused on how he bounces back from the outing. He'll likely need another appearance or two before being activated from the 15-day injured list.

  • Ryan Burr RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Ryan Burr: Facing batters Saturday

Burr will throw a live batting-practice session Saturday, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.

Burr is making steady progress since being pulled off his rehab assignment at the end of May and appears to be close to resuming an assignment. The 31-year-old has yet to make his 2025 MLB debut but appears to be on track for a late June or early July return.

  • Yimi Garcia RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Yimi Garcia: Completes bullpen

Garcia (shoulder) completed a bullpen session at the Blue Jays' spring training complex in Florida on Thursday,Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.

Garcia began playing catch June 6 and has progressed to throwing off a mound. He's been on the shelf since May 24 due to a right shoulder impingement and is likely still multiple weeks away from returning.

  • Isaac Paredes 3B | HOU

    Astros' Isaac Paredes: Getting MRI

Paredes (hamstring) will undergo an MRI on Friday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Paredes is out of the Astros' lineup for a second consecutive game Friday due to an unspecified left hamstring injury. The third baseman will undergo further testing to provide more clarity surrounding the injury. Keep an eye out for a status update within the next 24 hours.
