  • Brent Rooker DH | ATH

Athletics' Brent Rooker: Pair of doubles in win

Rooker went 3-for-5 with two doubles and a run scored in Wednesday's 5-4 victory over Boston.

Rooker didn't drive in any runs in Wednesday's win, but he still made his presence felt with his 11th three-hit game of the year and his fourth contest with multiple doubles. The 30-year-old's .824 OPS marks a step back from last season's .927 breakout, though he's remained a steady power source with 40 doubles, 27 homers and 82 RBI across 147 games.

  • Tyler Wells RP | BAL

Orioles' Tyler Wells: Sharp in no-decision Wednesday

Wells didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 2-1 extra-inning win over the Pirates, allowing one run on one hit and one walk over 6.2 innings. He struck out six.

Making his second start since recovering from June 2024 elbow surgery, Wells was locked in, with the only blemish on his line coming from a Spencer Horwitz solo shot in the fourth inning. The right-hander tossed 60 of 89 pitches for strikes, and through 11.2 innings, he sports a 2.31 ERA, 0.60 WHIP and 10:1 K:BB. Wells will look to continue a strong finish to 2025 in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week against the White Sox.

  • Colt Keith 3B | DET

Tigers' Colt Keith: Goes deep off bench

Keith went 1-for-1 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 11-1 win over the Yankees.

Keith began the game on the bench with New York starting lefty Carlos Rodon before entering as a pinch hitter in the ninth and promptly taking Luke Weaver deep with a runner on for his 13th home run of the season, tying his rookie-season total from 2024. It was Keith's first home run since Aug. 26, and he's batting just .154 in 12 games since then. Despite the slump, he should remain in the lineup most days against righties.

  • Riley Greene LF | DET

Tigers' Riley Greene: Pops 33rd home run

Greene went 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Wednesday's 11-1 win over the Yankees.

Greene hit his first home run of the month and team-leading 33rd of the season in the eighth inning against New York reliever Camilo Doval. The Detroit outfielder has enjoyed some sustained success recently, as he's batting .288 with a .917 OPS, five home runs and 17 RBI across his last 20 games. Greene is in the top 10 in the majors in both home runs and RBI (107).

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Tallies three hits in New York

Torkelson went 3-for-5 with two runs scored in Wednesday's 11-1 win over the Yankees.

Torkelson enjoyed his evening at Yankee Stadium, tallying his first three-hit effort since July and just his third of the season. The slugging first baseman is in a bit of a power drought, as he's now gone 14 games without a home run. Torkelson does still have 28 homers overall, which is second on the team behind Riley Greene and just three away from tying his career high, which Torkelson set back in 2023.

  • Nick Kurtz 1B | ATH

Athletics' Nick Kurtz: Up to 30 homers

Kurtz went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Red Sox.

Kurtz put the A's ahead 2-1 in the second inning with an opposite-field shot off Payton Tolle, his 30th homer of the season and third in his last seven games. The rookie first baseman is batting .302 with a 1.023 OPS -- tops among all rookies -- 77 runs scored and 74 RBI across 426 plate appearances this season.

  • Tigers' Kerry Carpenter: Homers off bench Wednesday

Carpenter went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 11-1 win over the Yankees.

Carpenter began the game on the bench with New York starting lefty Carlos Rodon, but the former entered the game in the seventh inning and made his mark late. The Detroit outfielder has gone deep twice in his last five games, and he's up to 24 home runs for the season. That's a new career high for Carpenter, and he's five RBI from tying his career high in that category, which is 64.

  • Justin Slaten RP | BOS

Red Sox's Justin Slaten: Struggles continue

Slaten allowed two runs on two hits and one walk over a third of an inning in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Athletics.

Slaten entered with Boston up a run and loaded the bases before getting the hook (10 pitches, four strikes). He was replaced by Steven Matz, who allowed a two of those inherited runners to score. Slaten was expected to be a bullpen asset when the Red Sox activated him from the injured list in late August, but the right-hander has been pummeled in six outings. Slaten has allowed seven runs on 12 hits and two walks over 5.1 innings.

  • Jack Flaherty SP | DET

Tigers' Jack Flaherty: Looks sharp in eighth win

Flaherty (8-13) tossed five scoreless innings to earn the win in Wednesday's 11-1 victory over the Yankees. He allowed two hits and a walk, while striking out seven.

Flaherty has been up and down recently, and Wednesday's sharp outing continued the trend. In his last four starts, he's alternated clunkers (eight runs allowed in five innings and four runs allowed in 4.1 innings) with good outings (one run allowed in 5.2 innings and no runs allowed in five innings). Overall, Flaherty is sitting with a 4.69 ERA across 151.2 innings this season, which is a sharp jump from the 3.17 ERA he posted in 162 regular-season innings last year while playing for both the Dodgers and Tigers. He is at least continuing to miss bats at a high rate with a 10.6 K/9 in 2025, down slightly from 10.8 in 2024. The veteran righty will look to string together some good starts, starting with his next scheduled trip to the mound Tuesday against Cleveland.

  • Kyle Harrison SP | MIL

Red Sox's Kyle Harrison: Makes Boston debut

Harrison allowed three hits, hit a batter and struck out two over three scoreless relief innings in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Athletics.

Harrison pitched the final three innings in a piggyback outing that was started by Payton Tolle (two innings). Harrison isn't fully built up after a series of stops and starts over the last couple of weeks that included an ankle injury. He could be a factor later in September, as he unlikely has the same innings limits of rookies Tolle and Connelly Early.
