Anthony (wrist) has yet to resume baseball activities, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

The next box Anthony needs to check off is showing he's able to have full grip strength when he grips a bat. That seems to suggest he's not close to returning, though the Red Sox indicated Tuesday that Anthony's right wrist sprain is improving. Masataka Yoshida will continue to serve as the team's primary designated hitter while Anthony recuperates.

The Astros optioned VanWey to Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday, Julia Morales of Space City Home Network reports.

Houston selected VanWey's contract Friday, and he'll return to Triple-A after firing two scoreless frames in two appearances. The right-hander has struggled in 15 relief outings for Sugar Land this year with a 5.74 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 19:6 K:BB over 15.2 innings.

Chisholm is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest in Baltimore.

It's a rare day off for Chisholm, who is just 3-for-23 with a 1:11 BB:K over his last six games. Amed Rosario will occupy second base and bat fifth for the Yankees.

The Astros reinstated Imai (arm) from the 15-day injured list to start Tuesday's game against the Mariners, Julia Morales of Space City Home Network reports.

Imai is ready to rejoin Houston's starting rotation after spending a month on the IL due to right arm fatigue. The 28-year-old built up to just 63 pitches across three innings during his second of two rehab outings, so the Astros plan to limit his workload to around 80-to-85 pitches Tuesday, per Chandler Rome of The Athletic.

The Yankees recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday.

Volpe was reinstated from the injured list and optioned to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on May 3 since Jose Caballero was performing well as New York's primary shortstop. Caballero is now headed to the injured list with a finger injury, opening the door for Volpe to potentially take over the starting job after beginning the season on the IL while completing his rehab from October shoulder surgery. The 25-year-old totaled 19 home runs and 18 steals in 153 games during the 2025 regular season, though his .212/.272/.391 slash line left a lot to be desired. Despite Volpe's promotion, Max Schuemann is getting the nod at shortstop Tuesday in Baltimore.

The Yankees plan to place Caballero (finger) on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports.

The 29-year-old sustained the right middle-finger injury Sunday in Milwaukee while diving back into first base, and he'll be unavailable for at least the next week-plus. Caballero was sent for an MRI, but his return timeline isn't known since the imaging results have yet to be reported. Anthony Volpe is being called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to step in as New York's primary shortstop.

Basallo (knee) is batting fifth as the designated hitter Tuesday against the Yankees, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Basallo was scratched from the lineup Monday due to left knee discomfort, but he'll return to action Tuesday after missing just one game. The 21-year-old has carried a hot bat through 10 games in May with four doubles, a triple, six RBI, four runs and a .928 OPS.

Contreras (hand) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Phillies, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Contreras had medical imaging come back negative after being hit by a pitch on the right hand Sunday against the Rays, and he'll be held out of Tuesday's starting nine after Monday's team off day. Per Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic, Contreras is improving and looks to have a good chance to return to action Wednesday. Mickey Gasper is stepping in at first base Tuesday for the Red Sox.

Moran will serve as the Red Sox' opening pitcher in Tuesday's game versus the Phillies, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Slotting Moran in as an opener ahead of bulk reliever Brayan Bello last week against the Tigers worked out well, so the Red Sox will give that arrangement another try. The left-handed Moran has managed a 2.91 ERA in 12 appearances for Boston this season, but he's been wild while walking 14 over 21.2 innings.

Bloss (elbow) struck out four over 2.1 scoreless innings Tuesday in his first rehab start with the Blue Jays' Florida Complex League affiliate, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.

It's the first game action for Bloss since he underwent UCL surgery last May. Acquired from the Astros in the Yusei Kikuchi trade in July 2024, Bloss will continue to be brought along slowly as he ramps things back up. The right-hander could become an option for the Toronto rotation sometime around midseason.
