  • Brayan Rocchio SS | CLE

Guardians' Brayan Rocchio: Moves to shortstop

Rocchio started at shortstop and went 0-for-2 with a walk in Saturday's 4-3 win over Seattle.

Rocchio has been the everyday second baseman for the last month but was needed at shortstop with Gabriel Arias (wrist) day-to-day. As part of the domino effect, Daniel Schneemann covered second base.

  • Willy Adames SS | SF

Giants' Willy Adames: Goes yard in loss

Adames went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 11-1 loss to the Orioles.

Adames homered in the first inning to give San Francisco a 1-0 lead, though it didn't last long. The shortstop has tallied three home runs in his last three games and has been productive of late, slashing .324/.422/.811 with 10 runs scored, nine RBI, six homers and two stolen bases across 45 plate appearances in his last 10 outings. Overall, the 29-year-old has recorded a .230/.317/.423 slash line with 83 runs scored, 71 RBI, 25 home runs and eight stolen bases across 575 plate appearances in 134 games this season.

  • Masyn Winn SS | STL

Cardinals' Masyn Winn: Getting Sunday off

Winn is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.

After sitting out last Sunday's loss to the Rays due to lingering soreness in his left knee, Winn proceeded to start six straight games, going 5-for-25 with a double, a walk, four RBI and three runs. The shortstop doesn't appear to be dealing with any setbacks, so his absence from the lineup for Sunday's matinee looks to be rest-related. Thomas Saggese will cover shortstop in Winn's stead.

  • Bobby Witt SS | KC

Royals' Bobby Witt: Belts decisive homer

Witt went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in a 3-1 victory versus Detroit on Saturday.

Witt's two-run shot in the eighth inning broke a 1-1 tie. The star shortstop extended his hitting streak to 18 games, during which he's slashing .394/.450/.577 with three home runs, 11 RBI, 17 runs and four stolen bases. While's Witt's .860 OPS on the campaign is over 100 points lower than his .977 mark last year, he's been plenty productive with an overall .299/.355/.505 slash line, 20 homers, 76 RBI, 88 runs and 34 thefts.

  • Trea Turner SS | PHI

Phillies' Trea Turner: Comes up clutch Saturday

Turner went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a walk, two RBI and two stolen bases in Saturday's 3-2 extra-inning win over Atlanta.

Turner was a thorn in Atlanta's side all night, capping his performance with a walk-off two-run single in the 10th inning. It was the shortstop's 10th multi-hit effort in 28 August games, leaving him just four hits behind Bo Bichette's league-leading 172 for the year. Turner is slashing .300/.353/.452 with 14 homers, 64 RBI and 92 runs scored across 560 plate appearances and is tied for fifth in the majors with 34 stolen bases after swiping two Saturday.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

    Tigers' Javier Baez: Resting Saturday

Baez isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Kansas City.

After collecting a base hit and scoring a run during Friday's win, Baez will retreat to the dugout Saturday with Riley Greene, Wenceel Perez and Kerry Carpenter in the outfield for the Tigers.

  • Gabriel Arias SS | CLE

Guardians' Gabriel Arias: Not in lineup after Friday's HBP

Arias (wrist) isn't starting against Seattle on Saturday.

Arias was hit on the right wrist by a pitch during Friday's contest and had to leave the game. He took X-rays that came back negative, but the versatile IF/OF will nonetheless begin on the bench Saturday. Brayan Rocchio is starting at shortstop in his stead.

  • Cam Devanney 3B | PIT

    Pirates' Cam Devanney: Joining Pirates

The Pirates recalled Devanney from Triple-A Indianapolis on Saturday, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.

Since joining the Pirates organization via trade from Kansas City on July 16, Devanney has slashed .256/.327/.361 with two homers, 11 RBI and 11 runs scored across 147 plate appearances. Those numbers represent a significant drop off from the .931 OPS he posted with the Royals' Triple-A affiliate, but he'll aim to contribute for the big club nonetheless. The 28-year-old has experience at every infield position and will be making his MLB debut whenever he gets into a game.

  • Chase Meidroth SS | CHW

White Sox's Chase Meidroth: On base three times

Meidroth went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a walk Friday against the Yankees.

Meidroth returned to the top of the lineup to hit leadoff for the second consecutive game against a lefty. He's gotten on base consistently since returning from a thumb injury Aug. 15, maintaining a .354 on-base percentage with seven runs scored across 12 games. Meidroth has also chipped in three RBI and a stolen base, but he won't offer much power.

  • Gabriel Arias SS | CLE

Guardians' Gabriel Arias: Imaging comes back negative

X-rays taken on Arias' wrist injury following Friday's game were negative, MLB.com reports.

Arias was plunked by a 94.7-mph sinker on the wrist during Friday's win over the Mariners and was immediately removed. Brayan Rocchio moved from second base to cover shortstop in Arias' absence.
