Tarik Skubal SP | LAD
Tigers' Tarik Skubal: Uneven performance Sunday
Skubal allowed four runs on six hits across 4.2 innings and did not factor into the decision in Sunday's game against the Marlins. He had no walks and struck out four.
One game after logging five scoreless innings to earn his first win of the season, Skubal was less dominant Sunday, and he failed to complete five innings for the fourth time in five starts. The Tigers are being cautious with their lefty in his return from flexor tendon surgery, and he was limited to 77 pitches in this one. Skubal can be a good fantasy pitcher, though his workload restrictions cap his upside at the moment, and that may not change until 2024. He's tentatively set to take the mound again next Sunday against the Rays.

Luis Castillo SP | CHW
Mariners' Luis Castillo: Tosses six shutout frames
Castillo (7-7) yielded two hits and a walk over six scoreless innings Sunday, striking out seven and earning a win over Arizona.
Castillo retired the last eight batters he faced and allowed just one Diamondback to reach scoring position in his dominant outing. He's issued two or fewer walks in seven straight outings, posting a 48:6 K:BB during that stretch. His season ERA is down to an impressive 2.88 with a 149:33 K:BB through 131.1 innings. Castillo's next start is projected to be on the road against the Angels.

Kyle Hendricks SP | LAA
Cubs' Kyle Hendricks: No run support in loss
Hendricks (4-5) allowed three runs on eight hits across seven innings to take the loss Sunday against the Cardinals. He walked one and struck out two.
Hendricks logged a quality start but got no run support in the 3-0 loss. That dropped the righty to below .500, though he's pitched pretty well with a 3.49 ERA. Hendricks has now allowed three earned runs or fewer in 11 of his 13 starts this season. The righty isn't missing a ton of bats, as he has only 48 strikeouts across 77.1 innings, though that's never been a big part of his game. Hendricks will look to keep pitching well in his next scheduled start, which is projected for Friday against a tough Atlanta squad.

Luis Severino SP | ATH
Yankees' Luis Severino: Serves up nine runs in loss
Severino (2-5) allowed nine runs on 10 hits and two walks over 3.1 innings Sunday, striking out five and taking a loss against the Orioles.
Baltimore jumped all over Severino early in Sunday's game, plating seven runs in the first inning and two more in the fourth. It's the fourth time in just 12 starts this season that he's given up at least seven runs. Three of those ugly outings came during July, saddling Severino with a bloated 10.38 ERA for the month. Severino's season mark has jumped to 7.49 through 57.2 frames. His next start is currently projected to come at home against the Astros next weekend.

Dean Kremer SP | MIN
Orioles' Dean Kremer: Fans seven in no-decision
Kremer allowed three runs on seven hits and two walks over four-plus innings in Sunday's win over the Yankees. He struck out seven and did not factor in the decision.
Kremer came out to begin the fifth inning but was pulled after allowing a leadoff single on his 90th pitch of the contest. It was his shortest start since tossing just three frames June 30. Kremer posted a 3.45 across 28.2 innings in five July starts. His season ERA sits at 4.66 alongside a 111:35 K:BB through 119.2 innings. Kremer's next outing is lined up to be at home against the Mets.

Jake Madden SP | COL
Rockies' Jake Madden: Heading to Colorado
Madden and Mason Albright were traded from the Angels to the Rockies on Sunday in exchange for C.J. Cron and Randal Grichuk, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
Madden was selected by the Angels with the 118th overall pick in the 2022 first-year player draft, and he's posted a 5.46 ERA and 1.59 WHIP in 64.1 innings over 14 appearances at Single-A Inland Empire. He has plenty of movement on his fastball and will continue his development with a new organization.

Rich Hill SP | KC
Pirates' Rich Hill: Punches out seven in no-decision
Hill did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks over five innings against the Phillies. He struck out seven.
Hill kept the Phillies off the board until the fourth inning Sunday, when Alec Bohm broke a scoreless tie with a two-run homer. Still, it was a step in the right direction for the 43-year-old southpaw after he'd pitched to a 6.30 ERA over his previous four outings. Overall, Hill is 7-10 through 22 starts (119 innings) this season with a 4.76 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 104:47 K:BB. His next start is currently lined up for next week against the Brewers.
-
Cristopher Sanchez SP | PHI
Phillies' Cristopher Sanchez: Throws five no-hit innings
Sanchez did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing two walks over five hitless innings against the Pirates. He struck out three.
Sanchez also hit three batters before departing the game after five innings without allowing a hit. The 26-year-old left-hander has still yet to earn a win this season despite pitching to a 2.12 ERA over his last six starts. Overall, Sanchez is 0-3 with a 2.66 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 41:8 K:BB across nine starts (47.1 innings) this season. He'll look to get in the win column in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week against Kansas City.

A.J. Smith-Shawver SP | ATL
Braves' AJ Smith-Shawver: Struggles with command in return
Smith-Shawver did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing three runs on four hits and four walks over five innings in an 8-6 win over the Brewers. He struck out three.
Smith-Shawver issued a season-high four walks in his first MLB start since June 23. While the 20-year-old right-hander was largely able to limit the damage, he'd ultimately get stuck with a no-decision. Smith-Shawver has been decent through five major-league starts, pitching to a 4.57 ERA with a 1.25 WHIP and 18:10 K:BB across 21.2 innings. However, he could head back to the minors as Max Fried (forearm) is expected to return to Atlanta's rotation next week.
