Early left Tuesday's contest versus Washington in the fifth inning due to left elbow discomfort, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Early exited after tossing four scoreless frames, and the reason for his departure was initially unknown. It is now understood to be an elbow issue, which is never a particularly easy pill to swallow for fantasy managers. Early will undergo additional imaging Wednesday to get an official diagnosis, per Cotillo, but he could be set for a stint on the injured list.

Early (undisclosed) was removed from Tuesday's contest against the Nationals in the fifth inning, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Early pitched four scoreless innings, surrendering three hits and two walks while striking out five batters before he was replaced on the mound by Danny Coulombe to open the top of the fifth. It's unclear what caused his departure, but the 24-year-old will finish his night having tossed 38 of his 61 total pitches for strikes. More information on Early's status will likely be provided in the near future.

Smith-Shawver (elbow) struck out four and allowed on run on three hits and no walks across three innings Tuesday in a rehab start with Single-A Augusta.

Smith-Shawver kicked off his rehab assignment Tuesday as he enters the home stretch of his recovery from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent last June. The right-hander was able to limit the damage to just one run on a solo shot, and he spotted 29 of his 41 total pitches for strikes. Smith-Shawver will likely make his next rehab start at a higher level in Atlanta's farm system.

The White Sox traded Peoples to the Rangers on Tuesday in exchange for Ben Hartl, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Peoples has performed well at Triple-A Charlotte this season, turning in a 2.39 ERA and 1.10 WHIP through 37.2 innings. The 25-year-old didn't own a 40-man roster spot while with the White Sox, so he'll remain at Triple-A to begin his tenure with the Rangers, but he could be called upon to make his MLB debut later this summer if his performance holds.

The Rockies optioned Sullivan to Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday.

Sullivan will head back to Triple-A after failing to establish himself during his first four MLB starts and accumulating an 8.64 ERA and 1.86 WHIP across 16.2 innings. He'll be replaced in Colorado's rotation by Tanner Gordon (hip), who returned from the injured list to start Tuesday's game against Miami.

Greene (elbow) will make his season debut for the Reds on Saturday versus the Orioles, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.

Manager Terry Francona had said previously that Greene would take the ball either Friday or Saturday, and it's now official that the hard-throwing righty will pitch on Independence Day. Brady Singer will get the start in Friday's series opener. Greene is coming back from arthroscopic surgery to remove bone chips from his right elbow, which he underwent in mid-March. The hurler was excellent in three rehab starts, posting a 13:2 K:BB over 14.1 scoreless innings. Greene logged 82 pitches and 6.1 frames in his final rehab outing, so he should be prepared for close to a full workload Saturday.

The Royals transferred Kolek (personal) from the paternity list to the family medical emergency list Tuesday.

The right-hander was scratched from his start Friday against the White Sox in order to be placed on the paternity list, and this transaction will allow him to spend more time away from the team. It's unclear if Kolek is expected to be back with the Royals for his next turn through the rotation, which lined up for Thursday versus Tampa Bay.

Manager Aarone Boone said Tuesday that Fried (elbow) is scheduled to throw another session of live batting practice Sunday, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Fried faced live batters Tuesday for the first time since landing on the injured list in mid-May, and he apparently came out of the simulated game with no issues. The left-hander will likely throw a bullpen session within the next few days before ramping up his workload during the live session Sunday. Fried isn't likely to rejoin the Yankees' rotation prior to the All-Star break but could be reinstated before the end of July.

Corbin has been moved to the Blue Jays' bullpen, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Corbin had previously been listed as Toronto's starting pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Mets. While he could still pitch that day, if he does it will be out of the bullpen. Corbin holds an 8.69 ERA and 16:10 K:BB over 19.2 innings covering five starts in June.

The Brewers optioned Gasser to the rookie-level ACL Brewers on Tuesday.

The left-hander seemed likely to stick on the big-league roster with the Brewers expected to utilize a six-man rotation through the All-Star break, but he's instead been jettisoned from the 26-man roster. Gasser still seems likely to get another look with Milwaukee soon since there is a doubleheader on deck next week in St. Louis.
