Bloss is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Athletics in Oakland, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Bloss will be making his first turn through the rotation of the second half after he returned from the 15-day injured list July 11 and covered four innings in a start against the Marlins. The rookie right-hander's stay in the rotation will likely come to an end once Justin Verlander (neck) is activated from the IL, perhaps as soon as next week.

Lively (8-6) took the loss against the Padres on Sunday, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over 5.1 innings while striking out two.

Lively gave up a two-out double to Kyle Higashioka that plated two runs in the second inning, but outside of that, he pitched well and stayed out of trouble in Sunday's loss. It was his seventh straight start in which he gave up multiple runs, but he's also pitched into the sixth inning in six straight starts. The 32-year-old remains a steady piece of the Guardians rotation with a 3.57 ERA through 93.1 innings this season.

King (8-6) earned the win against Cleveland on Sunday, allowing one run on two hits and a walk over seven innings while striking out six.

For the second time this season, King threw at least six no-hit innings in a start. The 29-year-old was electric over the first six frames before running into some minor trouble in the seventh, giving up his only run. King joined Paul Skenes, Ronel Blanco and Max Fried as the only pitchers with multiple no-hit bids of at least six innings this season. King also became the first Padres pitcher with multiple no-hit bids in a season since Blake Snell in 2021. The veteran has a 3.28 ERA and 1.19 WHIP over 118 innings in his first season in San Diego.

Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said Sunday that Scherzer is considered day-to-day after he experienced right arm fatigue during his start in Saturday's 8-4 loss to the Orioles, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Scherzer lasted just two innings Saturday and was dealt the loss after giving up for earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out a batter. Both Scherzer and Bochy suggested immediately after the game that the eight-time All-Star's early exit was precautionary, but the Rangers aren't yet penciling in the right-hander for his next turn through the rotation, which falls Thursday versus the White Sox. Per McFarland, the Rangers have already confirmed their starting pitchers for the first three games of the four-game set with Chicago, but the team may want to wait and see how Scherzer fares during a throwing session before locking him in for Thursday.

German re-signed Sunday with the Pirates on a minor-league contract, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.

German had opted out of his minor-league deal with the Pirates last week, but after canvassing the open market, he's elected to rejoin the organization. His new contract contains an Aug. 9 opt-out clause, so he could choose to pursue free agency once again in three weeks if he's not promoted to the big leagues before then. German has turned in a 5.36 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 48:28 K:BB across 50.1 innings over his 10 starts with Triple-A Indianapolis this season.

Musgrove (elbow) threw 30 pitches in a bullpen session Saturday, the Associated Press reports.

The bullpen was Musgrove's second since he went on the injured list June 1. The right-hander threw almost exclusively fastballs in his first session Wednesday, per MLB.com, and plans to increase his intensity as his throwing sessions progress. Padres manager Mike Shildt said Saturday that Musgrove is "clearly getting closer" to a return, though a target date for his activation hasn't yet been established.

Hall (knee/forearm) will head to Triple-A Nashville on Sunday to resume his rehab assignment, Sophia Minnaert of Bally Sports Wisconsin reports.

While it's unclear if Hall is scheduled to pitch Sunday in Nashville's game against Norfolk, the right-hander at least isn't being shut down from throwing any longer after his rehab assignment was extended when he was hit in the left forearm by a comebacker in his last outing July 9. Though Hall has yet to cover more than three innings in any of his nine outings between his first two separate minor-league rehab assignments, general manager Matt Arnold said last Sunday that the southpaw will get stretched back out to start as he resumes pitching with Nashville. Hall had previously made all four of his appearances with Milwaukee as a starter before landing on the injured list April 21 with a left knee sprain.

Valdez did not factor into the decision in a win over Seattle on Saturday, allowing two runs on three hits and four walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out six.

Valdez managed to keep Seattle off the board until the bottom of the sixth, when Julio Rodriguez took him deep for a two-run shot. The lefty was then relieved by Tayler Scott with two outs in the frame, narrowly missing out on his third straight quality start. Valdez hasn't allowed more than three earned runs in any of his last five outings, though he's now issued multiple free passes in five of his last six. Over that latter stretch he's 3-1 with a 37:17 K:BB.

Kirby did not factor into the decision in a loss to the Astros on Saturday, allowing one run on four hits over six innings while striking out six.

Kirby cruised through the first three frames before hitting Alex Bregman, who would later come around to score on a Jeremy Pena single, with a pitch to lead off the fourth. That would be the only run allowed by the right-hander on the night as Seattle's offense once again failed to provide him with much in terms of run support. Kirby has now logged eight quality starts in a row, though he has just two wins to show for it -- the most recent of which back on June 26. He's held his opponents to one earned run in back-to-back starts and now carries a 2.59 ERA in July to go along with a 26:4 K:BB.

The Tigers placed Olson on the 15-day injured list Sunday with a right shoulder strain.

Olson's move to the IL comes one day after he was removed from his start in the Tigers' 7-3 win over the Blue Jays due to what the team had classified as right shoulder soreness. Follow-up testing evidently revealed that Olson had suffered a strain, and the diagnosis leaves the 24-year-old with an uncertain timeline for a return from the shelf. Olson's injury now creates two openings in the Detroit rotation, as Casey Mize (hamstring) was placed on the IL earlier this month.
