Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Olson (shoulder) will rejoin the major-league club to be evaluated after a successful rehab start Tuesday with Triple-A Toledo, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

The right-hander threw 45 pitches across three scoreless innings Tuesday, which is only a minor increase from the 39 pitches and two innings he tossed during his first rehab outing Sept. 5. Hinch mentioned the possibility of a third rehab start, but the next steps in Olson's rehab won't be determined until he's checked out back with the big club.

Castillo was placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday due to a Grade 2 left hamstring strain, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

The right-hander already received a platelet-rich-plasma injection and hopes to be available after spending the 15-day minimum on the shelf. Even in a best-case scenario, Castillo will only be able to rejoin the Mariners for one or maybe two starts before the end of the regular season. Seattle is currently three games back of the final AL wild-card spot and is tied with two other teams, and the playoff positioning could affect how quickly the organization elects to bring Castillo back.

Manager Carlos Mendoza said Tuesday that Megill will get at least one more turn through the rotation, and the right-hander tentatively lines up to pitch Sunday against the Phillies, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

The 29-year-old could also be pushed back to start Monday versus the Nationals, but regardless of the specifics, he'll receive another turn through the rotation since Paul Blackburn's (hand/back) return from the injured list has been pushed back. Megill has been a solid depth starter for the Mets this year with a 4.48 ERA and 1.32 WHIP in 13 appearances, and he's coming off one of his best starts of the campaign as he held Toronto scoreless over six frames Monday.

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Tuesday that Blackburn (hand/back) isn't feeling much better and won't be activated from the 15-day injured list to pitch against the Phillies this weekend, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

The 30-year-old was scheduled to start Monday against the Blue Jays after missing a couple weeks due to a bruised hand, but he ended up being scratched due to back discomfort. It's unclear when Blackburn will be able to return from the IL at this point, but he'll be sidelined for at least another week.

The Dodgers reinstated Yamamoto (triceps) from the 60-day injured list ahead of his start Tuesday versus the Cubs.

Yamamoto has been held out of action since June 15 due to a right tricep/shoulder injury. However, he's made two rehab starts with Triple-A Oklahoma City, during which he allowed three earned runs across four innings. He only threw 53 pitches during his latest minor-league outing, so there's a good chance his return to a big-league mound is relatively brief Tuesday. Nick Ramirez was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

The White Sox optioned Nastrini to Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday.

The right-hander worked as a bulk reliever Monday against the Guardians and delivered his best outing of the campaign with 3.1 scoreless innings, but he'll still lose his place on the MLB roster. Nastrini hasn't been effective in his nine big-league appearances (eight starts) this season and has a 7.07 ERA, 1.91 WHIP and 26:36 K:BB in 35.2 innings.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Tuesday that Houck (arm) remains tentatively lined up to make his next start Friday against the Yankees, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Cora also provided more specifics on what caused Houck to be pushed back, noting that the pitcher is basically going through a "dead arm" phase during which he had trouble bouncing back from his last outing. It sounds like Houck starting Friday in the Bronx isn't set in stone, so his fantasy managers should have a contingency plan in place, if possible.

The White Sox selected Burke's contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday.

The right-hander is up with Chicago for his first taste of the big leagues after posting a 4.62 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 86:36 K:BB over 64.1 frames in Charlotte's rotation. Burke should immediately be available out of the bullpen for the White Sox, but it's possible he's given a start or two with Nick Nastrini being sent to Triple-A in a corresponding transaction.

The Athletics placed Bido on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with right wrist flexor tendinitis.

Bido had been slated to start Tuesday in Houston but instead is headed to the IL for at least the next two weeks. JP Sears will now be the starting pitcher for the Athletics on Tuesday. Bido has been a bright spot in Oakland's rotation this season, collecting a 3.41 ERA and 63:26 K:BB over 63.1 innings covering nine starts and seven relief appearances.

Ferris has a 3.09 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 21:13 K:BB in 23.1 innings over six starts since getting promoted to Double-A Tulsa on Aug. 2.

The 20-year-old southpaw was much more impressive through 20 starts for High-A Great Lakes, logging a 3.39 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 119 strikeouts in 98.1 innings. He threw 56 innings at Single-A in 2023 before getting traded from the Cubs to the Dodgers in the offseason deal that sent Michael Busch to Chicago. Ferris has built up to 121.2 innings and doesn't turn 21 until January, so this season has been a big success. He should return to Double-A next year and has the upside to keep climbing prospect rankings.
