Houck (0-3) allowed 11 runs on nine hits and three walks over 2.1 innings while taking a loss against the Tigers on Monday.

Houck coughed up a two-run shot to Gleyber Torres in the first inning and then turned in a scoreless second frame. The third inning was a nightmare, as the Tigers would plate nine runs, including Trey Sweeney's three-run blast. Shockingly, Houck has allowed 11 earned runs twice this season and his ERA jumped from 6.10 to 8.04 after Monday's awful outing. He's delivered three quality starts in nine appearances this season but has failed to complete six innings in any of the other six starts. Still looking for his first win of 2025, Houck is expected to face Atlanta at home this weekend.

Quantrill (2-4) took the loss Monday against the Cubs, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks over 4.1 innings with one strikeout.

The Miami right-hander was cruising through four scoreless innings before unraveling in the fifth during this 83-pitch effort. In the fifth frame, Quantrill conceded three runs on three hits, including a Dansby Swanson two-run long ball. Across 36 total innings, Quantrill has pitched to an unsightly 7.00 ERA and 1.72 WHIP while failing to earn a quality start in any of his eight outings. He currently lines up to make his next start against the Cubs again but at home next week.

Rea (3-0) earned the win Monday versus the Marlins, conceding two runs on six hits and two walks over 6.2 innings. He struck out four.

The veteran right-hander looked sharp against a weak Miami lineup, tossing 57 strikes out of 98 total pitches. The only blemish on Rea's outing came in the seventh inning when Derek Hill popped a two-run homer to chase the Chicago starter from the game. Rea now owns a 2.48 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 29:9 K:BB across 36.1 innings. His solid performance should continue to keep him in the rotation, with his next turn currently slated to be against the White Sox at home this weekend.

Irvin did not factor into Monday's decision against Atlanta, allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out one over six innings.

Irvin put Washington behind after giving up two runs in the third inning before yielding a solo homer to Marcell Ozuna in the fifth. It was the fourth time this season that Irvin gave up seven hits or more, but he was able to limit the damage to three runs and came away with his fourth quality start of the season. He has a 4.00 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 34:16 K:BB across 54 innings this year, and his next start is slated for this weekend on the road against the Orioles.

Holmes allowed one run on four hits and one walk while striking out four over 6.1 innings in a no-decision against the Nationals on Monday.

Holmes faced the minimum number of batters through the first three innings and his only blemish came in the fourth frame, when he yielded a solo home run to James Wood. Holmes recorded nine groundouts while generating 11 whiffs on 79 pitches (49 strikes) en route to his third quality start of the season. He has a 4.17 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 44:21 K:BB across 45.1 innings, and he's lined up to face the Red Sox on the road this weekend.

Montero will be recalled from Triple-A Toledo and is set to be deployed as a bulk reliever in Tuesday's game against the Red Sox, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Montero will fill the opening in the rotation created by Casey Mize's (hamstring) recent move to the injured list, but the 24-year-old righty won't be tasked with handling a traditional starting role. Instead, the Tigers will use Tyler Holton as their opening pitcher, but he's expected to cover no more than one or two innings before giving way to Montero. Montero is fresh off an impressive eight-inning outing with the Tigers against the Rockies at Coors Field last Thursday, when he surrendered one run on five hits while striking out two and walking three.

Gilbert (elbow) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Tuesday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

This will mark Gilbert's first official bullpen since being placed on the 15-day injured list with an elbow injury at the end of April, though he reportedly threw off a mound Sunday to a standing catcher. The team has yet to reveal a concrete timetable for Gilbert's return. However, the right-hander will likely need to make at least one or two appearances in the minors before being activated.

Kirby (shoulder) is expected to make another minor-league rehab start with Triple-A Tacoma on Friday in Albuquerque, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Kirby completed his second rehab start with Tacoma on Saturday, surrendering three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out five batters over three innings. The right-hander has missed the entirety of the 2025 campaign so far while recovering from right shoulder inflammation and if all goes well Friday, he'd be on track to return to the major-league roster in the middle of next week.

Lively left Monday's start against the Brewers due to right forearm inflammation, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Lively was forced to exit before the fourth inning of Monday's outing after experiencing discomfort when tossing his warmup pitches. The club will presumably monitor his status over the next few days and may elect to send him for further testing to determine whether a stint on the IL is necessary.

Quintana (shoulder) said Monday that he's feeling better and plans to throw a bullpen session Wednesday ahead of Friday's scheduled start versus the Twins, Sophia Minnaert of FanDuel Sports Network Wisconsin reports.

Quintana felt left shoulder soreness following his last outing against the Rays, which resulted in the Brewers pushing the southpaw's next scheduled start back from Wednesday to Friday. While the Brewers believe giving Quintana a couple extra days of rest will be enough for him to overcome the shoulder issue, the club won't officially clear him until he throws a bullpen session Wednesday and recovers well from it Thursday.
