Zac Gallen SP | ARI
Diamondbacks' Zac Gallen: Turns in quality start
Gallen (8-5) allowed three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out six over six innings to earn the win Friday over the Pirates.
Gallen's shaky control continues to be a red flag -- he has a 19:14 K:BB over 24 innings across five starts this month. On the bright side, he earned his second quality start in six outings since he returned from a hamstring injury. The right-hander is now at a 3.70 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 86:30 K:BB through 87.2 innings over 17 starts this year. Gallen's next start is projected to come at home versus the Nationals.

Kodai Senga SP | NYM
Mets' Kodai Senga: Getting MRI on Saturday
Senga is scheduled to undergo an MRI on his left calf Saturday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
After missing the first four months of the season while recovering from a shoulder capsule strain as well as tricep inflammation, Senga was cleared make his 2024 debut Friday. He picked up the win against Atlanta while striking out nine and allowing two runs on two hits and one walk, but he exited midway through the sixth inning after tweaking his calf while running to cover first base on a pop-up. Manager Carlos Mendoza said after the game that the team believes the 31-year-old righty suffered only a strain rather than a more serious injury to his calf, though the results of Saturday's MRI are still pending. Senga could be headed back to the IL, even if the MRI reveals nothing overly concerning.

Kyle Hendricks SP | LAA
Cubs' Kyle Hendricks: Tagged with six runs
Hendricks (2-9) allowed six runs on eight hits over five innings Friday, striking out four and taking a loss against the Royals.
Hendricks worked through four scoreless frames before things unraveled in the fifth inning as Kansas City racked up six runs, capped off by Salvador Perez's three-run shot. Hendricks has gone 1-5 with a 6.07 ERA over his last six outings, but that stretch has actually lowered his season ERA to 6.95 across 80.1 innings. He's currently in line to start in Cincinnati next week.

Nick Lodolo SP | CIN
Reds' Nick Lodolo: Strikes out five in no-decision

Marlins' Trevor Rogers: Picks up win

The 27-year-old remains a steady option with quality starts in nine of his last 14 starts, and he's allowed just three home runs in 115 innings this season. Sanchez will take a 3.05 ERA into his next start, tentatively scheduled to come against the Yankees.

Kodai Senga SP | NYM
Mets' Kodai Senga: Exits start with injury
Senga was removed from his start Friday against Atlanta due to a left calf strain.
Senga went to the ground grabbing at his left calf while running to cover first base on a pop-up in the sixth inning. The Mets have yet to provide any information regarding the severity of his injury, though the right-hander was able to walk off the field under his own power. Senga was activated off the injured list earlier Friday after missing the first several months of the year due to issues with his right shoulder and triceps, and he allowed two earned runs on two hits and a walk while striking out nine batters through 5.1 frames in his season debut.

Giants' Alex Cobb: Could return next week
Cobb (hip/shoulder) is scheduled to throw five innings for Triple-A Sacramento on Friday in what is expected to be his final rehab start, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Cobb has yielded five runs with a 20:5 K:BB across 16.1 minor-league innings during his rehab stint.

Keaton Winn SP | SF
Giants' Keaton Winn: Set for season-ending surgery
Winn is scheduled to undergo a season-ending ulnar nerve transposition procedure Monday on his right elbow, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Winn was initially placed on the 15-day injured list June 22 due to a nerve issue in his right elbow. He began his rehab program by throwing bullpen sessions in early July, but he was shut down from throwing Monday after experiencing additional discomfort and has now been recommended for surgery. Winn will shift his focus to getting healthy for spring training, but he'll finish the 2024 campaign with a 3-8 record, 7.16 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 48:20 K:BB across 55.1 innings.
