  • Cole Hamels SP | SD

Cubs' Cole Hamels: Yields one run in no-decision

Hamels allowed one run on three hits with five strikeouts and three walks across seven innings in a no-decision against the Brewers on Saturday.

The only run Hamels gave up came on a home run in the fifth, but the Cubs tied the game at one in the bottom of the inning. However, that was also the only run he got in run support, so even though the Cubs did eventually win in extra innings, Hamels did not factor into the decision. Hamels has settled for four straight no-decisions, but he is 3-0 with a 3.08 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 49 strikeouts in 49.2 innings. His next start should come against the Nationals on Friday.

  • Phillies' Vince Velasquez: Expects brief absence

Velasquez (forearm) is optimistic that he'll only miss one start while on the 10-day injured list, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Velasquez reportedly felt something in his arm after throwing a slider in his last start Monday against the Cardinals. Cole Irvin will fill in for him Sunday but could head back to the minors if Velasquez is indeed ready to pitch again soon.

  • Cole Irvin RP | LAD

Phillies' Cole Irvin: Set to debut Sunday

Irvin will be called up Sunday to make his big-league debut against the Royals, Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Vince Velasquez landed on the injured list with a right forearm strain, so Irvin could have the opportunity to stick around for more than just one start should he impress Sunday. Irvin was never a particularly top prospect but saw his stock rise after recording a 2.57 ERA for Triple-A Lehigh Valley last season. His 5.5 percent walk rate in 31 starts and one relief appearance at that level is quite strong, but his modest 19.5 strikeout rate limits his upside.

  • Phillies' Vince Velasquez: Lands on injured list

Velasquez was placed on the injured list with a strained right forearm Saturday.

Velasquez's spot in the rotation was reportedly at risk, but he'll end up heading to the injured list before he could be sent to the bullpen. It's not yet clear how much time he's expected to miss. Reliever Austin Davis will be recalled to take his place on the roster, with Cole Irvin expected to be called up to take his place in the rotation.

  • Chase Anderson RP | TEX

Brewers' Chase Anderson: Rehab start coming Monday

Anderson (finger) is set to make a rehab start with Triple-A San Antonio on Monday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Anderson has not encountered any setbacks since landing on the injured list with a blister and is ready to take the final step in his recovery. Assuming all goes as planned Monday, he will rejoin the Brewers on Tuesday and be activated shortly thereafter. Anderson was working as a starter when he suffered his injury but opened the season in the bullpen, so it remains to be seen what his role will be upon his return.

  • Julio Urias SP | LAD

Dodgers' Julio Urias: Picks up three-inning save

Urias allowed three hits while striking out one over three scoreless innings Friday against the Nationals en route to his second career save.

Manager Dave Roberts said before the game that he wanted to get Urias "multiple innings," per David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports, and he was able to do just that in a 5-0 Dodgers win. The 22-year-old Urias converted a traditional save chance earlier in the week with Kenley Jansen unavailable after pitching three straight days. Even in a bullpen role, Urias has appeal in a wide variety of formats.

  • Kenta Maeda SP | NYY

Dodgers' Kenta Maeda: Stellar in win

Maeda (4-2) gave up just one hit and two walks while striking out six over six scoreless innings in a win over the Nationals on Friday.

It's been a bit of a rollercoaster for Maeda lately, as he's sandwiched scoreless outings between four- and six-run hiccups. The overall numbers are fine, but Maeda's walk rate is way up and his strikeout rate is way down. Maeda's FIP through eight starts is 4.42, up from his 3.30 mark as a starting pitcher last year. Maeda is in line for a road start in Cincinnati next week.

  • Julio Teheran SP | BAL

Braves' Julio Teheran: Allows one run over six

Teheran allowed one run on three hits and two walks while striking out four over six innings in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks on Friday.

With just one run allowed in his last two starts (12 innings), Teheran has brought his ERA for the season down more than a full run to 4.26. He has quality starts in three of his last four outings, and each of those quality starts came on the road, which is a good sign after his early season struggles away from SunTrust Park. Teheran lines up for a home start against the Cardinals next before a road two step the week of May 20.

  • Luis Castillo SP | CHW

    Reds' Luis Castillo: Dominant again

Castillo threw six scoreless innings against the Giants on Friday night to get his fourth win of the season. He struck out 11 while allowing two hits and five walks. He generated 15 swings and misses on his changeup, accounting for nine of his strikeouts, and threw his changeup 40 times in the effort, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

It's those five walks that drove Castillo's pitch count over 100 after six innings, leading to the early exit. He was facing a Giants team that scored four against him in his previous outing, his worst so far this season, albeit without Buster Posey, who is now on the injured list. He next faces a red-hot Cubs lineup back in Great American Ballpark, a challenge that will really test his newfound ace level.

  • Zack Greinke SP | KC

Diamondbacks' Zack Greinke: Stellar in defeat

Greinke allowed one run on five hits while striking out seven in a no-decision against the Braves on Friday.

Arizona's offense and bullpen conspired to spoil a terrific outing by Greinke, who has allowed two or fewer runs in five of his last six starts. Since that Opening Day disaster in Los Angeles, the right-hander has a 2.19 ERA over eight starts. Greinke will look to get back in the win column Tuesday at home against the Pirates.
