  • Artie Lewicki SP | ARI

Tigers' Artie Lewicki: Could be removed from rotation

Lewicki may be dropped from the Tigers' rotation as he's approaching his innings limit for the season, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

If Lewicki is removed from the rotation, Myles Jaye would likely replace him. In Lewicki's single start for the big club this season, he pitched five innings and gave up five runs on 11 hits and a walk. Additional information regarding the 25-year-old's availability should be available in the near future.

  • Myles Jaye SP | CLE

Tigers' Myles Jaye: Picks up first MLB win Tuesday

Jaye (1-0) recorded his first MLB win Tuesday against the Royals. He pitched 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing a hit and two walks.

Detroit starter Anibal Sanchez threw only five pitches before taking a comebacker to the right leg, which forced him out of the game. That thrust Jaye into action early, and he responded well. The Tigers supplied him plenty of run support, too, as they scored seven times in the second inning and 13 times total. Jaye has now tossed 5.2 scoreless innings to begin his MLB career.

  • Astros' Justin Verlander: Wins in Astros debut

Verlander (11-8) allowed one run on six hits and a walk while striking out seven over six innings in Houston's 3-1 win over Seattle on Tuesday.

The Mariners put up some long at-bats early against Verlander, running his pitch count to 103 before manager A.J. Hinch shook his hand after six innings. The newest Astro had to be sharp as Seattle's Ariel Miranda didn't allow a hit over six innings. It was reminiscent of an early-season game when Houston was the best team in the majors: a starter keeps the game close until the resilient offense picks him up in the later innings. Verlander and his fantasy owners will appreciate that type of support. With a day off and a doubleheader coming up necessitating some tweaks in the rotation, Verlander's next start is not expected until next Tuesday's series opener in Anaheim.

  • Twins' Adalberto Mejia: Shifting rehab to Double-A

Mejia (biceps) will shift his minor-league rehab assignment to Double-A Chattanooga.

Mejia allowed just one run in two prior rehab starts (eight innings) for Triple-A Rochester. However, with the minor-league season ending, he'll join the playoff-bound Lookouts as he looks to make one final rehab appearance before rejoining the Twins. Mejia has been sidelined since Aug. 9 with a biceps strain; his return date will hopefully come into focus after his next rehab outing.

  • Red Sox's Eduardo Rodriguez: Strong start ends in no-decision

Rodriguez struck out eight Blue Jays over six sharp innings Tuesday, but he didn't receive a decision in the eventual 19-inning win.

The young lefty's strong start had already passed into memory by the time this game finally ended 13 innings after he'd departed, but you can be sure that Rodriguez's embattled fantasy owners took notice of his improvement. After all, he'd given up five runs in two straight starts coming in. Walks and homers have remained issues for Rodriguez in his third major-league campaign, as he's failed to evolve much on the mound to this point in his career. However, his strikeout ability and team context keep him in the fantasy conversation.

  • Marcus Stroman SP | NYY

Blue Jays' Marcus Stroman: Will throw side session Wednesday

Stroman (elbow) will throw a side session Wednesday to determine his status for Friday's start against the Tigers, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports.

Stroman exited his last start in the second inning with an elbow contusion, though the 26-year-old remains confident he'll be able to take his next turn in the rotation. He was able to play catch Tuesday with no issues, and if he checks out after Wednesday's side session, he'll be cleared to make his next start on schedule.

  • Rays' Jake Odorizzi: Stifles Twins for eighth win of season

Odorizzi (8-7) tossed 6.2 scoreless innings to earn the win Tuesday against the Twins, allowing one hit and one walk with six strikeouts.

Odorizzi was terrific in this one and took a no-hitter into the seventh inning, only to see it ruined by an infield single with one out. The right-hander struck out the next man he faced but was then lifted somewhat prematurely, with just 90 pitches under his belt. This stellar outing came at the right time for Odorizzi, who had allowed 13 runs across 12.1 innings over his last three starts. He will look to build on this performance Sunday against the Red Sox.

  • Vicente Campos SP | PIT

    Angels' Vicente Campos: DFA'd Tuesday

Campos was designated for assignment Tuesday.

The Angels activated Garrett Richards from the 60-day DL and selected the contract of Deolis Guerra on Tuesday, so Campos was chosen as the roster casualty. The 25-year-old underwent minor elbow surgery in July but has been able to make five relief appearances with Triple-A Salt Lake over the past several weeks.

  • Paul Blackburn RP | NYY

Athletics' Paul Blackburn: Transferred to 60-day DL

Blackburn (wrist) was transferred to the 60-day DL on Tuesday.

Blackburn was expected to miss the remainder of the season after being hit by a comebacker late last month, and this move makes it official. The right-hander turned in a 3.22 ERA over 58.2 innings for Oakland this season, but the peripherals suggest he overachieved to a large extent (2.5 percent K-BB%). Regardless, Blackburn figures to get a chance to compete for a roster spot in spring training.

  • Dylan Cease SP | TOR

White Sox's Dylan Cease: Shut down with shoulder fatigue

Cease was scratched from his playoff start for Low-A Kannapolis on Tuesday due to shoulder fatigue, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports.

This move is supposedly just a precaution, and Cease is expected to participate in the instructional league. If he can indeed report to camp next year without any arm injuries, then 2017 will be seen as a huge success for the hard-throwing righty, who was the second returning prospect in the trade that sent Jose Quintana to the Cubs. Cease has a 3.28 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 126 strikeouts in 93.1 innings across the two Low-A affiliates. Sadly, those 93.1 innings easily establish a new season high for the 21-year-old.
