  • Tommy Milone SP | SEA

Mariners' Tommy Milone: Officially following opener

Milone will serve as the primary pitcher Monday against the Royals, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Taylor Scott is working as the opener, with Milone set to follow and cover the majority of innings. The southpaw has pitched well as a bulk reliever in his last two trips to the mound, allowing four runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out seven across 11.1 innings.

  • Corey Kluber SP | BOS

Indians' Corey Kluber: Moved to 60-day IL

Kluber (forearm) was shifted to the 60-day injured list Monday.

This is simply procedural; Kluber has already been sidelined for six weeks and is still weeks away from returning, as he has yet to resume throwing. Mike Clevinger (back), who is scheduled to start Monday against the Rangers, was activated from the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move.

  • Mike Clevinger RP | PIT

Indians' Mike Clevinger: Activated ahead of start

Clevinger (back) was activated from the 60-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Monday against the Rangers.

Clevinger is set to rejoin the rotation after spending more than two months on the shelf with a back injury. The right-hander was lights-out prior to getting injured, striking out 22 across 12 scoreless innings in two starts. Corey Kluber (forearm) was shifted to the 60-day injured list while Josh Smith was optioned to Triple-A Columbus in a pair of corresponding roster moves.

  • Tommy Milone SP | SEA

Mariners' Tommy Milone: Likely working behind opener

Milone is expected to work behind an opening pitcher in Monday's game against the Royals, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Seattle hasn't formally clarified its plans for Monday's game, but Milone will be in line to cover the majority of the innings for the team regardless if he's deployed out of the bullpen or as a traditional starter. The lefty has fared well as a bulk reliever in his last two turns, giving up four runs on seven hits and a walk over 11.1 innings.

  • Jesus Luzardo SP | PHI

Athletics' Jesus Luzardo: Taking rehab to Triple-A

Luzardo will make his next rehab start at Triple-A Las Vegas, which is likely to come Saturday, Katie Woo of MiLB.com reports.

Luzardo looked strong in Sunday's outing with High-A Stockton, fanning nine over four innings, so he'll advance to Triple-A. He'll likely require at least a few more appearances prior to being activated from the injured list.

  • Alex Cobb SP | DET

Orioles' Alex Cobb: No complications with surgery

Manager Brandon Hyde confirmed Sunday that Cobb (hip) underwent successful surgery earlier in the weekend, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

The procedure officially spells an end to Cobb's season after he made three unproductive starts for the Orioles. surrendering 15 runs over 12.1 innings in those outings. Baltimore would surely like a mulligan after signing Cobb to a four-year, $57 million contract last March with the expectation that he would serve as the staff ace. Cobb, who is expected to be back to full strength by next spring, has gone 5-17 with a 5.36 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 6.0 K/9 over 31 starts the past two seasons.

  • White Sox's Odrisamer Despaigne: Gives up seven runs in loss

Despaigne (0-2) gave up seven runs on nine hits and four walks while striking out five through 4.1 innings, taking the loss against the Yankees on Sunday.

After two scoreless innings, Despaigne saw the wheels come off during his performance as he was crushed for five runs in the third inning and two more before he could get out of the fifth. After a solid outing in his first start earned him a second chance in the rotation, this start may cause his spot to be in question. The 32-year-old has an 8.71 ERA through two starts. If he stays in the rotation, Despaigne is currently scheduled to pitch again Saturday against the Rangers at Globe Life Park in Arlington.

  • James Paxton SP | BOS

Yankees' James Paxton: Strikes out seven in win

Paxton (4-3) gave up two runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out seven through six innings, taking the win against the White Sox on Sunday.

Paxton gave up a solo home run in the first inning but settled down to secure his fourth win with a quality start. The 30-year-old continues to be dominant with 17 swinging strikes in this start and a 14 percent swinging-strike rate this season. Along with his impressive 11.6 K/9, Paxton lowered his ERA to 3.93 through 11 starts. Paxton will look to carry this momentum into his next start Friday against the Astros at Yankee Stadium.

  • Martin Perez SP | ATL

Twins' Martin Perez: Yields five runs in loss

Perez (7-3) coughed up five runs (four earned) on six hits and a walk in 6.2 innings Sunday, striking out seven and taking the loss against the Royals.

Perez was in trouble early, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk in the second inning alone. He settled in, throwing four straight perfect frames after that before another bumpy stretch in the seventh. He's now given up at least four runs in three of his last four outings, raising his season ERA from 2.95 to 4.09 during that span. He'll look for redemption in Kansas City on Friday.

  • John Means SP | KC

Orioles' John Means: Turns in decent outing

Means yielded two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out two over five innings Sunday against the Red Sox. He didn't factor into the decision.

Means cruised through the first three frames of his start before giving up two runs in the fourth on four base knocks. He had to be removed after five innings due to a high pitch count (103 pitches). The 26-year-old lefty continues to throw the ball well this season, allowing three or fewer runs in each of his last eight outings. Means has posted a 2.67 ERA with 59 strikeouts across 70.2 innings this season.
