Urena (forearm) is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list to start Sunday against the White Sox, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Urena hit the 10-day injured list May 29, with the move being retroactive to May 27, making him eligible to be activated Sunday. Initial reports were that Urena would likely only miss one turn through the rotation, and that appears likely to be the case. The right-hander has posted a 4.14 ERA to go along with a 35:22 K:BB through 54.1 innings this season.

Maeda (arm/groin) successfully completed a 20-pitch bullpen session Friday and is slated to throw another bullpen Sunday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

It's still unclear what the full plan is for Maeda as far as a return to the Twins' rotation is concerned. A rehab assignment still figures to be a possibility, though the club could opt to build him up through simulated games instead. In either scenario, Friday's bullpen marks an important step toward returning for the right-hander, and he'll look to make further progress when he takes the mound again Sunday.

Gambrell was traded to Boston on Friday as a player to be named later in the deal that sent Andrew Benintendi to the Royals, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.

Benintendi was moved to the Royals last offseason in a three-team trade that also involved the Mets, but there remained parts of the trade that had not been completed as of Friday. Gambrell will now head to the Red Sox organization after spending 2019 and the beginning of this season in the lower levels of the Royals' farm system.

Quintana (shoulder) has been throwing from 90 feet recently, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Quintana was diagnosed with left shoulder inflammation after he underwent an MRI recently, but he's resumed a throwing program. A timetable for the left-hander's return hasn't yet been established, but Patrick Sandoval will take his place in the starting rotation.

Maeda (arm/groin) will throw a bullpen prior to Friday's game against Kansas City and is expected to throw another bullpen before the Twins decide his next step, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Maeda initially landed on the injured list May 23 with a right adductor strain and later had an arm issue arise May 30. He began throwing again June 2 and is now set to throw off the mound. The plan is for the right-hander to get another bullpen session in within the next few days before the Twins decide whether or not to send him on a rehab assignment. In any case, a mid-to-late-June return to the Twins' rotation seems like the most like scenario at this point.

Quantrill will start Sunday's game against the Orioles if he's not used out of the bullpen during Friday's series opener, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

Quantrill got a spot start Monday, allowing one run on four hits across 3.2 innings in a no-decision against the White Sox. He now appears to be a strong candidate to make another start Sunday, though that decision is dependent on his usage in Friday's tilt.

Gibson (groin) was activated off the injured list as expected ahead of his scheduled start Friday against the Rays.

Gibson wound up missing two weeks with a strained right groin. He was having a strong season prior to the injury, cruising to a 2.24 ERA and 1.01 WHIP through 10 starts, though it took a .234 BABIP to get him there. His 20.1 percent strikeout rate is above his career average (18.2 percent) but remains well below the league-average mark of 24.1 percent. Wes Benjamin was optioned in a corresponding move.

Canning (4-4) was tagged with the loss Thursday against the Mariners after allowing four runs on six hits and two walks while fanning five across 3.1 innings.

This was the fourth time Canning couldn't complete four innings this season, and the right-hander has given up three or more runs in each of his last three starts. That comes after a stretch of three straight starts with two or fewer earned runs. Canning owns a 4.45 ERA, a 1.52 WHIP, a 10.5 K/9 and a 4.8 BB/9 over his last six outings, and his next start is scheduled for next week at home against the Royals.

Gibson (groin) will come off the injured list and start Friday against the Rays, Daniel Guerrero of MLB.com reports.

Gibson came out of a bullpen session Wednesday without a setback and is ready to go Friday. "The plan we had going into it was really good and I saw a quick turnaround," he said. "It's just a really good plan. I've been feeling really good." Before going down with a groin strain, Gibson was 3-0 with a 2.24 ERA while holding opponents to a .193 batting average over 60.1 innings.

Bubic allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits and two walks while striking out six across 4.1 innings in the win over the Twins on Thursday. He did not factor into the decision.

Bubic struggled to settle in Thursday, as he was pulled early with one out in the fifth inning on 87 pitches. This was the left-hander's worst appearance since moving into the starting rotation in mid-May. It wasn't a terrible outing by any means, but it was his shortest start of the season. The 23-year-old has a 2.12 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP with 28 punchouts in 34 innings.
