Berrios (12-9) took the loss against Minnesota on Friday, pitching six innings and allowing three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out to 10.

The right-hander was touched up for three runs in the third inning, but he was otherwise dominant against his former team. Berrios racked up double-digit strikeouts for the fourth time this season and induced 17 swings-and-misses while notching his sixth straight quality start. However, Toronto was able to offer only run of support, sending Berrios to his ninth loss of the campaign. He'll carry a solid 3.48 ERA and 197:45 K:BB into his next start, which is lined up to come at home against the Yankees next week.

Ryan (personal) will be placed on the bereavement list Saturday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Ryan left the team Friday to attend to a personal matter, but manager Rocco Baldelli is hoping the right-hander will be able to rejoin the Twins as early as Sunday. Players are required to spend a minimum of three days on the bereavement list, which would still put Ryan in line to start Tuesday's series opener against Detroit if he's back with the team in time for the game.

Wells was removed from Friday's game against the Rangers due to right shoulder discomfort, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

However, the right-hander downplayed the severity of the injury after the game and said he hopes to make one more start prior to the postseason. He'll presumably be monitored in the coming days to determine his availability, but he projects to make his next start at home against the Tigers next weekend.

Wells left Friday's game against the Rangers in the top of the ninth inning with an apparent injury, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports.

Wells entered Friday's game in a save situation but appeared to wince after he gave up a leadoff triple in the ninth. He was immediately removed from the game, but the nature of his injury isn't yet clear. Bielak will start in place of Zack Greinke on Friday against Oakland after Greinke was placed on the 10-day injured list with neck soreness, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Bielak's last major-league outing also came in a spot start Sept. 17 against Arizona. He logged 2.2 scoreless innings during that start before being optioned to Triple-A Sugar Land, although he returned to the Astros just two days later. Bielak figures to have a hard time working deep into Friday's game given that he hasn't eclipsed 3.1 innings all season.
