Faedo (0-1) allowed just two runs on four hits across five innings but took the loss in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Athletics. He walked two and struck out seven.

Making his second career start, Faedo once again allowed two runs across five innings. However, the righty improved upon the one strikeout he had in that previous outing last Wednesday. Faedo has so far been used as an extra starter during doubleheaders, though the 26-year-old could push for a more regular rotation spot if he continues to pitch well. He's currently slated to start again versus the Rays on Monday, but the Tigers are also waiting on the returns of Matt Manning (shoulder), Tyler Alexander (elbow) and Casey Mize (elbow) in the next few weeks, so Faedo will likely shift back to Triple-A Toledo at some point.

Skubal (2-2) tossed seven scoreless innings to earn the win in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Athletics. He allowed three hits and three walks while striking out five.

Skubal allowed only two runs in his last start but didn't get any run support, so he decided to be even stingier Tuesday, which helped him even his record. It marked the second time this year that the lefty tossed at least six scoreless innings, and his ERA is down to a stellar 2.94. Skubal also has 34 strikeouts against just six walks across 33.2 innings, as his breakout seems to be underway. The 25-year-old's next scheduled outing is set for Sunday against the Orioles.

Kirby will make his second start for the Mariners in Saturday's game against the Mets in New York, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.

After coming up from Double-A Arkansas to replace the struggling Matt Brash as the Mariners' No. 5 starter, Kirby was sensational in his MLB debut last Sunday against the Rays. He struck out seven and allowed four baserunners across six scoreless innings in a no-decision, inducing 15 swings and misses along the way. The 24-year-old's impressive first outing made it a foregone conclusion for the Mariners to keep him in the rotation.

Ryu (forearm) is on track to start Saturday against the Rays, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Ryu was originally expected to miss just two or three starts with left forearm inflammation, but a Saturday return would mean he'd wind up missing just shy of a month. He struggled in his first two outings prior to the injury, giving up 11 runs in 7.1 innings, but will look to get back on track now that the injury is behind him.

Rangers manager Chris Woodward said Tuesday that he expects Gray (knee) to make his next start, Levi Weaver of The Athletic reports.

Gray exited early in his start Monday against the Yankees after 4.1 innings due to left knee soreness, the second time he's dealt with a knee issue this season. It doesn't look as though he'll have to miss any turns in the rotation, though he may wear a knee brace for his next few outings just to be safe. Gray tentatively lines up to make his next start Sunday at home versus the Red Sox.

Bundy cleared COVID-19 protocols Tuesday but has yet to be activated off the injured list, Megan Ryan of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Bundy tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday, but it doesn't look as though he'll miss too much more time. The Twins have yet to announce when they expect him to return to the roster.

The Yankees will promote Gil from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to start Thursday's game against the White Sox in Chicago, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Gil is likely just in line for one start with the Yankees, who are forced to add a temporarily sixth starter to the mix after last Sunday's doubleheader with the Rangers created a stretch of six games in five days. The 23-year-old Gil impressed with a 3.07 ERA and 38 strikeouts over 29.1 innings in six starts with the big club in 2021, but he hasn't come close to replicating that success at Triple-A this season. Through his 17 innings at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Gil has given up 19 runs (18 earned) on 18 hits and 12 walks while striking out 25.

Paddack (elbow) was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

The move was an expected one after it was announced earlier in the day that Paddack was seeking a second opinion on his elbow and could require surgery. The decision on his treatment plan has not yet been made, but he'll miss at least one turn in the rotation and likely several more. Jharel Cotton was recalled to take Paddack's place on the roster.

Faedo was called up as expected ahead of his scheduled start in the second half of Tuesday's doubleheader against Oakland.

Faedo made his major-league debut in the nightcap of a doubleheader against the Pirates on Wednesday, escaping with two runs allowed in five innings despite striking out just one batter and giving up eight hits. He'll face another of the league's lesser lineups in his second career start.

Paddack is getting a second opinion on his inflamed right elbow, with surgery potentially on the table, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Paddack has been a serviceable starter for the Twins this season, posting a 4.03 ERA through five starts and a 1.69 FIP that suggested things could have been much better. Unfortunately, it looks like things might instead get much worse. He's yet to be placed on the injured list or even officially ruled out for his next start, but the fact that surgery is being considered suggests that a long absence could be coming. If Tommy John surgery winds up being the required procedure, Paddack would miss all of this season as well as the majority of the next, though even a lesser elbow surgery could still wipe out a large portion of this season.
