Montgomery continues to provide quality efforts but has yet to earn his first win of the season. The left-hander sports a 3.35 ERA and 36:8 K:BB through eight starts (40.1 innings). His next start is tentatively scheduled for a rematch with Baltimore on Tuesday.

Quantrill did not factor into the decision in Thursday's loss to the Reds. He gave up one run on five hits and zero walks while striking out five over seven innings.

A Tyler Naquin solo homer in the fifth inning accounted for all of the damage against Quantrill, who now sits with a 3.48 ERA through seven starts this season. He once again hung a goose egg in the walk column, so Quantrill seems to be trusting his stuff, but his stuff is not good enough to achieve these kinds of results on a regular basis, especially against better lineups. Quantrill has struck out just 25 batters in 41.1 innings this season and ranks among the bottom 10 qualifiers in strikeout percentage.

The Red Sox confirmed that Wacha (side) has been cleared to start Friday's game against the Mariners, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Boston is expected to wait until after Thursday's series opener before formally reinstating Wacha from the 15-day injured list and dropping another player from the 26-man active roster. Wacha will end up missing the minimum amount of time due to left intercostal irritation, which first cropped up prior to his scheduled start May 8. Before picking up the injury, Wacha had cruised through his first five outings of the campaign, posting a 1.38 ERA and 0.92 WHIP over 26 innings.

Cueto is listed as the White Sox's starting pitcher for Sunday's game against the Yankees in New York.

The White Sox could have turned to Dylan Cease to take the hill for Sunday's game on his normal four days' rest, but Cueto will instead get a two-start week after he turned in an impressive debut Monday's win in Kansas City. Though he was saddled with a no-decision, Cueto shut out the Royals over six innings and struck out seven while allowing only four baserunners. He'll draw a much tougher matchup for the second leg of the two step, as the Yankees offense has produced an MLB-best .331 wOBA this season, which includes a .337 mark at Yankee Stadium.

Manning (shoulder) exited Thursday's rehab start at Triple-A Toledo because he was experiencing lightheadedness, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Manning was removed from his third rehab start during the third inning, but general manager Al Avila said that the right-hander didn't suffer an aggravation of the shoulder injury that initially forced him to the 10-day injured list April 20. Thursday's outing was expected to be Manning's final rehab start, but because he threw only 49 pitches before exiting, the Tigers may want him to make another start in the minors before bringing him back from the IL. Regardless, assuming he's able to quickly overcome the bout with lightheadedness, he should be on track to rejoin Detroit's rotation by the end of the month.

Manning (shoulder) left his rehab start Thursday at Triple-A Toledo midway through the third inning with an apparent injury, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Manning was making what seemed likely to be his final rehab start as he works his way back from shoulder inflammation, but his timeline is now unclear following Thursday's setback. He opened his outing for Toledo with two scoreless innings, only to walk three batters and hit another with a pitch before being pulled from the start. It's unclear if his shaky control was due to more shoulder troubles or an entirely separate injury, but either way, he's unlikely to return from the 10-day injured list during the upcoming week.

Garcia (3-2) allowed five runs (three earned) on five hits and three walks while striking out four across four innings to take the loss Wednesday against Boston.

Garcia was harmed by his defense, which committed two errors behind him. However, he also didn't have his best stuff as he surrendered three extra-base hits -- including a home run to Xander Bogaerts -- across his four frames. Garcia had been excellent prior to this outing, as he had allowed only three earned runs across 18 frames while tallying a 23:5 K:BB in three starts. He still owns a strong 3.35 ERA for the campaign.

Bello allowed two runs on six hits and one walk while striking out 10 over six innings for Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday.

Bello, who was promoted from Double-A Portland earlier in this week, showed the WooSox what all the buzz was about in his debut at the Triple-A level. He whiffed the first batter faced on a 98-mph fastball and dazzled the rest of the way. It was the 11th double-digit strikeout game of the 23-year-old 's minor-league career.

Giolito registered a no-decision during Wednesday's 6-2 loss to Kansas City, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in five innings.

Giolito struggled early, surrendering a combined six baserunners in the first two innings and a solo home run in the third, but the damage only amounted to two runs, and he departed with the score tied. The 27-year-old was making his first start since May 10 due to a brief stint on the COVID-19 injured list and the rust showed, with Giolito tossing only 55 of 92 pitches for strikes with 10 of the swinging variety. He's yet to allow more than three runs in a game through six turns and will take a solid 2.84 ERA into a projected start against Boston early next week.

Greinke didn't factor into the decision during Wednesday's 6-2 victory over the White Sox, allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk with four strikeouts in 5.2 innings.

Greinke scattered his baserunners evenly across the 5.2 frames and let in a run during the second and fifth innings, but he departed before finishing the sixth and would have been victorious had he completed the inning. The 38-year-old has been solid at preventing runs with a 3.48 ERA and no more than three runs surrendered in all starts except one, but he lacks upside with only 18 strikeouts in 44 innings. He projects for a start against Arizona early next week.
