Lynch (2-5) allowed six runs on six hits and two walks over 5.2 innings Monday, striking out four and taking a loss against Toronto.

Lynch retired nine straight batters to start the game before his troubles began in the fourth inning. He was taken deep by Bo Bichette for a two-run shot and would later allow two more home runs, including a sixth-inning homer by Santiago Espinal that would knock him out of the contest. The 25-year-old southpaw has given up 12 runs over his last two outings, causing his ERA to jump from 3.92 to 5.36 through 10 starts. Lynch will look for better results in his projected home matchup with the Orioles this weekend.

Stripling (2-1) allowed one hit over five shutout frames Monday, striking out two and earning a win over the Royals.

The Blue Jays combined to throw a two-hit shutout and it began with five strong innings from Stripling. The only hit he gave up was Michael Taylor's single in the third. In six starts this season, the 32-year-old is 1-1 with a 3.46 ERA and a 20:2 K:BB. Stripling is currently projected to start in Detroit this weekend.

Paxton (elbow) might throw off a mound next week, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

Paxton continues to throw long toss and play catch. "Hopefully, by the end of this week, he continues his progress and hop on the mound probably next week," Boston manager Alex Cora said. The left-handed Paxton is returning from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent in April 2021. He had been throwing bullpen sessions in April but was set back by posterior elbow soreness before resuming a throwing program May 18.

Syndergaard (4-4) took the loss against Boston on Monday, allowing one run on five hits and one walk while striking out three over six innings.

This was a nice bounce-back performance for the right-hander after he allowed five runs in just 2.1 innings against the Yankees in his previous start. However, Syndergaard was outdueled by Red Sox starter Michael Wacha, who tossed his first complete-game shutout in five years. Syndergaard has alternated good and bad starts of late, allowing a single earned run in three of his past five outings but surrendering a total of nine earned runs across three combined frames in the other two appearances. He'll carry a season 3.69 ERA into his next start, which is lined up to come at home against the Mets this weekend.

Wacha (4-1) earned the win over the Angels on Monday with a complete-game shutout in which he allowed three hits and one walk while striking out six.

Wacha was masterful in the performance, at one point retiring 15 straight batters and completing the game without allowing any runners to reach third base. The right-hander gave up only one hit after the first inning en route to his first shutout since the 2017 season. Wacha hasn't allowed an earned run over 14.2 innings across his past two starts, and he now carries a sterling 1.99 ERA on the season. He'll look to keep rolling in his next start, which will likely come in Seattle this weekend.

Javier (3-3) took the loss against Seattle on Monday, pitching 3.2 innings and allowing five runs on six hits and one walk while striking out four.

Javier gave up six hits in the outing, and three went for extra bases. He surrendered a run on a single and a double in the first inning and was tagged for a three-run homer in the second. The Astros tied the score 4-4 with a big second frame, but Javier coughed up the lead in the fourth and was removed with two outs. The right-hander has given up two or fewer runs in nine of his 11 starts this season, but he's yielded 12 runs across 7.1 combined innings in his other two appearances. Javier will carry a 3.22 ERA into his next start, which is expected to come at home against Miami this weekend.

Ray (5-6) earned the win over Houston on Monday, allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits and three walks while striking out three over five innings.

Ray was lit up for four runs -- the first three of which came on solo homers -- over his first two innings, but he was able to keep the Astros off the scoreboard over his final three frames to eke out a win. The southpaw allowed at least one baserunner in every inning in which he pitched and managed a season-low three strikeouts, so he clearly wasn't at the top of his game despite the victory. Ray has given up at least three earned runs in each of his past five starts and has consequently seen his ERA rise to an uninspiring 4.97 on the season. He'll likely make his next start at home against Boston this weekend.

Gray will start the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Guardians, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Gray was initially slated to toe the rubber Monday evening in the series opener, but his outing has since been moved to Tuesday after Monday's matchup was postponed due to rain. The right-hander owns a 4.38 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with a 29:8 K:BB over his last four starts (24.2 innings).

The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Tuesday. Gray will likely start one of the two games, though the Rangers have yet to officially announce their plans.
